Spotted a Gunmetal R34 coming down Pacific Highway in the morning (8:30am) who gave me a wave and thus returned his.

Thanks for the offers I just may take you up on the BOV. I'll be doing some work on the car this weekend to see what needs to be done Thank you so much for the help
-
Yeah they are fine by his "standards".. only said 1994 and up R33 skylines are f0ked. No pods what so ever. Also, anyone got a GTR-BOV I can borrow?
-
I posted this up in the NSW part of the forums but I wanted to get this question out there so I could get more of a detailed answer. I got defect for the standard BOV that vented to Atmo, fair enough. So I do my research and look around and figure the Stealth FX seems quite good.. I install it and set it all up for plump-back.. I even removed the trumpet. Off to the EPA site I go and he tests it and seems fine... He then looks at it a bit closer and starts to twist it and goes.. "Can't be adjustable" What classes "adjustable" yes I can change it in a flick of a wrist, but you can make any bloody BOV vent to the atmo but just taking the plump-back pipe off in 2 seconds.. I can't fight this can I? Do I have a chance if I go to another EPA site? I can buy a plug to fill in the atmo hole, but that still makes it "adjustable" in a way...
-
It's to do with the AFM screwing up because the air got vented out and it didn't know, or something like that... in the end it changes your emessions.
-
Isn't that just saying, anyone who has an AMP or a Sub or a non-stock sound system "could" put it as loud as they wanted and cause noise pollution? Why don't they defect that... sorry I'm just annoyed..
-
yeah they did.. which means another bloody 3 week waiting list to do so...
-
Wish I knew.. would of been nice to know that adjustable BOV are not allowed... including my Pod... Can't say they make it easy to find this infomation out till it's to late.
-
I rather abide to the policemans.. then I don't have to bother with the RTA... http://www.gofastbits.com/images/Stealth%2...ions%20Test.pdf Just an example of the BOV.
-
Well thats what I don't understand.. He said I needed to book it in for an emissions test.. which I thought it was... But guess not.. I don't have a stock BOV But thats why I'm pissed, I talked to GFB and they told me I won't have any problems passing the test as it's fully plump back.. the EPA site tells me "Nah sorry, not allowed an ajustable BOV" He said any 1993 and under model is allowed a Pod, but anything above i'm not allowed an aftermarket pod filter, even if it has a cover...

G'day, Sorry for yet another defect story, but hopeing someone can help me out. Got defect for: a uncovered pod a atmo BOV and a intercooler that needed to be tested. The cop also went behind my car and asked me to rev the engine to see what kind of sound came out. I have a Trust Power Extreme II Exhaust, which is not the loudest, he stood there and I reved to 4-5k and he said, "nah thats fine, not even close" Now, first off I buy a box to cover the pod. Next I buy a GFP Stealth FX BOV and set it all to plump back, I don't even have the whistle on. I take it to the EPA site and they say, that I didn't pass anything.. 1. Aftermarket air-pods are not allowed at all on a R33 Skyline 1996 model.. fair enough... I read through some defect stories and found out why.. So I cleared the Cop defect, but he writes up another one. 2. You're not allowed a "adjustable" BOV... now WTF... I did my research on this... I heard no problems at all.. is this true? 3. Then he defects me for me exhaust with a reading of 97-99DB... ?!!?!?!? arrgghhh..
-
haha classic
-
lmao, atleast it now has less restrictive exhaust, might be able to get to 0-60 in 20seconds now!

Ring Just Jap and ask them to fax you the instructons.. They have some helpful info + pics.

No custom brackets for the piping to lift it above the fan.. there installation instructions told me to cut the fan back.. Stuff that!! If they supplied 2 more of the smaller brackets that are ment to mount the intercooler to the front bar it would do the job. So I just copied that idea and made another 2.
-
Not worth $400 by far. It's a doable job, but can get tricky, but I wouldn't pay a professional any more then $250-$300 at least! I got the same offer from Just Jap.. Anyways, I guess it's just down to if your willing to slice through some of your car.

Hey Mate, Me and a Mate did the same thing, same kit, same car. It's not an easy job. You will need the tools for it. Angle Grinder is the god tool in this situation. (you will need to trim the front bar) 3" whole saw for the hole to put the piping through. Also for a side note, forget trimming your Fan back... all we did was make a bracket and forced the piping to lift up a little higher so we didn't hit the fan. (Place it where you connect the pipe's arm that connects to the engine block) Our biggest problem was that we misscalculated the 3" hole for the pipe.. so yeah.. it's now a bigger hole... If I'm free any day soon I'll see if I can lend you a hand but it won't be till next week

Ok well it starts with me and a mate putting on a FMIC, we had disconnected the battery and start the hours of work to get this bloody FMIC on and in the end we got the job done. We had turned the horns around to make room for the FMIC to fit in and everything seem to be looking great. After which the battery was hooked up and the car started fine, radio, lights, everything fine. I press the horn and nothing.. I hear a click in the fuse box up front every time I press down. I guess a blown fuse? But anyone else got any ideas?
-
Mate, Here is a pic that might help you. Yellow line is the hose you are looking to connect. I believe.. This is not my car. Nor do I have an intercooler...
