An Amicable Discussion On P Platers And The Law.
s2k12 replied to blaizer's topic in Western Australia
Why were you doing 101kph in a 50kph zone? Yeah, you have to start right from the beginning if you're on P's. Also, 6 months is the minimum for hoon law, which is what 51kph over the limit is considered. So I doubt you'd get out of it with only 3 months. Also, not sure if you have to be on phase 2 for 6 months like everyone else, but I believe you do. *insert rant about how drink driving is a lesser penalty and it shouldn't be here* -
I've seen [HOLDEN] before though, guy that owned it also owns a Holden dealership I believe. Edit: Wtf Bart, that's pretty shit.. Wonder what happened to those who already have [GTS ###] plates then....

If you have the car in your name before the law is passed, you can get an exemption, assuming they do it the same as all the other states. -
I still fail to see how that's dangerous, all the accidents there are because people skip the lights. Fault of the people, not the intersection.

You do realise that's pretty much the behaviour they're trying to stop with this law, right? LOL smartass -

*waits patiently for someone to address his points* Healthy debate is good unless it turns into a shitfight. Let's keep it healthy though. Wait a sec, I'm not a mod here, shitfight all you like jks. -

Nobody believed for a second that his intentions were to reduce underage drinking though lol. Yeah, but they can still ride something like an Aprilia RS250 lol. -

I only got my P's a few months ago, it was pretty easy. I mean, yeah, I did around 25,000klms just on L's, so I did atleast double the driving most people do, but even so, I had almost no experience driving a manual and I still passed the practical. Pretty sure I only passed that based on the chat we had after the test about hooning though lol. He asked me if I had a car, said yes, he asked what type, I said 84 300zx (wasn't going to lie seeing as he could look it up if he wanted to anyway lol), he said "so a hoon car" lol. If I didn't talk my way out of that one and point out the difference between car enthusiast and hoon, I'd have failed for sure. I somewhat agree that driver training wont reduce the arrogance of some people, but they should still be able to get themselves out of shit after they lose it. Also, if said course was mandatory, along with a bunch of other training stuff (think about how you get licences on GT4 lol), most of the cocky little wankers wouldn't pass anyway. -

Driver education. -
Yeah, you can get remote mount kits, and some detectors like the STi-R & 9500ci come as remote mount RD's.
-
Yeah, the STi-R has euro mode unlike my old STi XR. Didn't cost any extra, swap didn't take long at all. And yeah, I had it swapped once before because my previous unit died completely. Yet to find a camera, but I'll go to a few places on the list tomorrow and try find something to test it with haha.

I backed into a 2ft pole once in a carpark in the magna when I was on L's lol. Drove straight back into the parking bay after the crunch, looked behind again from the drivers seat (mirrors and head check), still couldn't see wtf I hit haha. Stupid blind spots, had to get out the car to see the pole. The only other time I've hit something was the bin lol, also on L's. Reversed out the driveway like normal, looking back but neglecting to use the passenger side mirror, then bang. Jumped out, picked up rubbish, put the bin back, got back in the car where mum was loling rather hard. Then I lol'd. Neither of them damaged the car, so all good. Well, the pole one left paint on the back of the magna, but that washed off lol.

You forgot the bank & bottle shop
-
Just made the switch then, I'll let ya know how it goes

Jammers are illegal to use, but not to own (in WA atleast). But I'm pretty sure there's no points with that fine, so as long as it's not stupidly excessive then it's worth the risk imo. Edit: Also, yeah, there's a 4sec auto shut-off on his jammers, but I'd hit the skids and flick the switch asap anyway, so probably before it automatically shuts off. Edit 2: Radar jammers have the same laws as laser jammers too I believe.
-
Thanks dude. Yeah, I know the shop, been in there once before when I was looking for a vertical bracket (which I never ended up getting). Might go in tomorrow if I get time, Morley is just down the road. I was also thinking about getting a laser jammer from them when money permits lol.

If that was the case, I wouldn't really feel sorry for the passengers either.. But I don't know for sure either way, so I'm not going to make assumptions.

Not if you already have the turbo registered in your name before the laws come in, that's the only way around it. For those talking about donkey votes.. You do realise they go to whoever is in power at the time, right? -

I'm divided on this one. On one hand, it's good to limit people when they first start, but on the other, I don't actually believe it'll save peoples lives. You do realise that hoon-related incidents are only a very small percentage of overall crashes on the road, right? You just hear about them more often because they're a public nuisance. -
The driver clearly needs to be shot. Although, I can't help but question why the passengers didn't say anything..
-
Odds of getting the same offer with my Beltronics XR STI? As long as I can swap back if I'm not happy with the Whistler unit, I'm up for it.

Anyone Had To Convince Their Parents To Let Them Get Turbo?
s2k12 replied to detonation's topic in WA Wasteland
Hrmm ok then, when I did the online quote the price was the same if I was the owner or an extra driver.. Must have been just the site then. Does the car need to be in their name too then? Or just the insurance? Is the excess any worse? I'd blame the stereotype for that. Edit: Btw, Just Car covers L-platers for free as long as the person sitting with you is the same person who the vehicle is insured to. That said, you wont be covered with someone else if you do it that way. -

Wtf, that's still cheaper than insuring an Aus-spec NA Z31 lol. Also bare in mind that you aren't covered if you're driving it at the time of a crash, only your Dad is. Unless you add yourself as another driver, and the premium goes back up to what it would be for you to insure it anyway. Edit: Err, you might want to tell them you're no longer on L's too lol.
