What the hell, I don't remember quoting that.... Edit: And for some reason I can edit this post, but not that one lol..
-
Yeah probably. Got something with the night driving rule lol.
-
Not really an intersection, but there's a rather large pot hole on alexander drive which I hit today because the puddles were hiding it. Yay for almost ripping the tyre off.
-
Pretty sure it effects all P-platers unless they already have a turbo in their name, if it's going to be like the eastern states. Sucks for me, seeing as my turbo conversion isn't started yet lol. And I'm guessing the performance restrictions went from low priority to "oh shit, quick, introduce them in a matter of weeks" lol.

Hrmm, wonder whether GPS or accelerometer would be more accurate.. And if someone could make one for the iPhone that uses both for accuracy haha.
-
You think that's bad, the bit of hepburn that will eventually go behind our house was supposed to be opened in the early 90's. Still not built, but minor progress has been made, and they're still saying it'll happen haha.
-
Yeah, but the point I was making is that the motorbike laws are still flawed. For example, an RS250 is a pretty fast bike, and there's nothing to say you can't make them even faster. But then you can't ride a larger bike, even if it's slower. Still a better system than letting a new rider onto a hayabusa, but flawed none the less. ROFL

There's not a power ban on motorbikes, only a displacement ban. Also, there has been nothing but media speculation that he was driving like a f**kwit. The media also claimed at one stage that it was a V8, and at another stage that it had a $6,000 supercharger, so they clearly aren't the most reliable source of information. Please don't assume things unless there is proof.

Lol I was close to brake-checking him, but then I thought, I'm sure they'd find a way to make it my fault even though they weren't leaving a safe distance, and "a cat ran out, you didn't see it?" isn't actually a legal reason to brake.... Hahaha.

I even had a cop tailgate me one night on reid hwy between altone & beachboro trying to get me to speed lol. I think being a P-plater with a radar detector didn't help, but 'sif I'd be stupid enough to not notice a marked car behind me lol. He cut another P-plater off to stay behind me too haha, where it merges after the lights. Agree'd lol.
-
Ahh, I was going to reply to this before but lost it in the merge lol. I disagree with alot of what you said. Firstly, it feels like everyone speeds in built up areas. The amount of people tailgating, flashing, beeping, etc. that I've had from people telling me to go faster is shocking. But I don't think I've had another P-plater do it yet. Secondly, pretty sure I'm not the only P-plater that drives better when I have a passenger(s) and/or there is other people around. I don't do skids to show off, quite the opposite infact, I only do them when the roads are dead, for the fun of it. I have a friend who has a Z31 and an excel. The excel get thrashed on almost every corner, the zed only rarely. Because he has respect for the zed, unlike the excel. And lastly, can you please use paragraphs next time, it was a little hard to read as one big lump of text. Edit: A P-plater chick in a celica let me in today, after several fully licenced drivers went as close as possible to not let me in. Pretty sure that me and her aren't the only ones that always let people in either.

Only issues I see with performance bans, is that an old gutless 253 V8 will probably be banned but a 3800 V6 commodore probably wont. And if they extended the ban to 6cyl cars, then the R31 skyline & Z31 300zx & even the old 202 commodores & kingswoods will be on the ban list, while a corolla of similar power will be fine (think late 80's 100kw 4AGE models). My want for restrictions isn't so much because I think it'll save someone, because in all honesty, it probably wont. I just want to kill their ego's a bit lol, because THAT is what kills them. As long as the modification bans are for power mods only, I'll be happy. If the ban is for all mods, including brakes & suspension, well, it'd be a bit hypocritical. Actually, knowing the government, they'll probably ban the lot, leaving me with dangerously shit brakes from the 80's lol.
-
My mum was nervous at first, but after a week or something I pretty much did all the driving everywhere and she loved not having to drive lol.
-
Yeah, that was pretty much why I bought the R31.
-
I still don't see a problem with tonkin & leach.

My Beltronics XR STI has sfa range on it. I want to get a sideways mount and do a few tests in different positions at different angles.

Haha, bald RE92's and f**ked brakes in the wet on that thing while I was on L's was a little scary to say the least. In hindsight it was stupid to drive that on public roads back then, but we didn't really have much choice. Damn I learnt fast though lol. Something like that, but not on public roads, would be an interesting vehicle to learn car control in..
-
Lol nope. I came off after it understeered to try snap it into oversteer (read: less understeer to the point where it was almost neutral) but it didn't happen, so waited for it to grip up by itself, then tapped brakes to help it because I was running out of road lol. This was in the rain btw, turning off Wanneroo road where kingsway maccas is. As for inexperienced.. I'd say I'm inexperienced too. Yet I know how to grab oversteer, it's understeer that I struggle with lol. Edit: I just hope the no modifications rule is for power mods only, because factory NA Z31 brakes & suspension sucks.
-
I have never understood why people think this.. My car has snapped into oversteer a few times now, isn't that hard to pull it back in though. Mums car, has understeered to the point where I was on full-lock left and it was still going straight. That was alot harder to pull back into line lol, but also would have had much worse consequences than oversteer. Understeer is also more common in the magna than oversteer is in the zed. On the subject of performance cars.. A friend of mine has an NA Z31 and an 87-ish excel. The zed gets thrashed very rarely, while the excel gets thrashed every second corner lol. While the zed isn't exactly a performance car, it is in comparison to the excel lol. And I'm the same though, I can't drive mums magna slow lol, it's too painful. But my car, easy. A mates R33 turbo that I drove once? Yeah, I babied that too. I think it's about being able to respect the car, and when you have no respect for it, like in the case of a daily, you go nuts with it. I also think I drive better in manual cars for some reason. More driver feedback perhaps? Oh yeah, that's another thing, I hate that modern cars have no feedback! But yes, as I said before, restrict the f**k out of us just to kill some ego's. I don't think it will do much for the road toll, and it will inconvenience me alot, but as long as some of these new drivers stop thinking they own the road then it'll be worth it. Yes, I know it's not only P-platers, and I would even go as far as to say most of the bad drivers aren't P platers. But the government isn't going to try fix the driving habbits of fully licenced drivers, so this is the next best thing. Also, on a completely unrelated note, red P's suit my car better lol.
-
I'm starting to think they should restrict the f**k out of us. Why? Too many news sites perhaps lol. Either way, a stock NA Z31 isn't exactly a performance car anyway, with a shocking 120kw when new haha. Same goes for the 114kw R31 skyline. Even an NA R33 is a gutless 150kw when new iirc. 150kw feels like alot for the first few months or so, then it just feels slow (the magna I learnt in is a good example of this). I'm quite happy to stay with 120kw until I'm off my P's, although one thing I hate is that this law would presumably mean no modifications at all, which means shitty stock suspension & brakes, and no LPG conversion.
-
"A $6,000 supercharger setup" and "the race-preped vehicle" were 2 phrases I heard on the news and lol'd at. I think the problem is people are just idiots. I had 2k to buy my first car, the R31, which I then swapped for the Z31. The cars have 114kw & 120kw respectively when new, so they're both slower than the main car I learnt in and drive now (mums magna, because my car is always broken lol). I learnt in a 3.5L 150kw magna with bald RE92's. It was f**king suicidal to drive in the wet, and even in the dry it was a bitch. I learnt fast in that thing lol. Not the best idea, but we couldn't afford to do anything about the tyres and mum was too scared to drive it lol. I also did about 25,000klms in the 1 year & 1 day that I was on L's. I think that should be the same for everyone. The other day in the wet, it understeered like a flamin mongrel! As in, I was on full lock left, and it was still going straight. I managed to bring the car back into line based pretty much on my experience of driving it back when it had the bald RE92's on it lol. I also think you learn quicker if you understand how a car works. Sorry if that's a bit nonsensical but I'm tired lol. Edit: Lulz @ swear filter.
-
Maybe I'm just too tired, but.. What to the end where? Lol both ends intersect with Alexander. Edit: And I think lights at that bit are long overdue, it was terrible before that.

Wow that sucks dude! Where was it parked? There may have been a security camera somewhere that got something..
