  1. I have run mostly 98 RON but running 95 RON doesn't seem to make any difference to the economy or running of the car. Pity BP don't give any discounts on fuel. Which means that I have to keep going back to Woolworths liquor to get my discount vouchers so that I can get my 4c off the fuel..... well that's my excuse! Caltex/Woolies Vortex 98 seems alright anyway. But every now and then I am probably gonna run a tank of 95.
  2. I earthed out the boost once, just before going to the drags, only to have a really bad misfire come on. I must admit that I also put in about $20 of 95 octane, and at first thought that it might be shit petrol. But it ended up being spark plugs. I just can't help wondering if using higher boost at lower revs had anything to do with the plugs stuffing up though. I only did one run on high boost at the drags, then pulled the wire out, but the 2nd run was just as bad. Then gave up and went home. My car BTW doesn't have any serious mods, only an exhaust (& turbo timer!!), and to be honest I am not sure of the extent of the mod to that, as I cant get under the thing 'cos of the body kit. I'll get it up on a hoist soon!
  3. After now owning our S2 for six months, I have found that city driving is VERY different to going on a country run. Around the city, driving what I call "Normally" (which includes blowing the odd shithead away from the lights or stopping them cutting me off). I find I can only get about 360kms per tank. If I can go a whole tankful and not put my foot down I can get 420km, on a run at a constant 110kph, we can manage 525km. So I wouldn't mind betting that it's the same with guys. But I didn't buy a performance wagon, just to watch how slowly the gauge goes down. I have a falcon on gas, if I want around town economy. With the Stag I really think that it is the short runs, (traffic lights and constant acceleration) that kill the economy. I am still working on that method of being able to earn money faster than I can spend it..... in this regard the Stagea hasn't helped!!
  4. Hey Carter, Very nice pick-up there, one of the best Autech's that I've seen. Looks ultra good in Silver, (and fairly unusual for a 260RS). Very clean car.... any engine bay pics? Welcome to the fray...... enjoy your new toy! oh the waiting..... worse than being 6 and waiting for Xmas!!
  5. Hey Joe (where you goin with that gun in your hand) Unless I am mistook your car isn't a Prime edition, as Prime editions are all 4wd... yours is a 2wd type B, leather wasn't standard in type b's, so yours must be an optioned one. If you want a spread sheet with all the option/standard equip. PM me your email, and I'll send it on. It's not easy to decipher it all, but it it interesting just the same. AFAIK All Prime edition's came with leather and wood....(plastic) I Lurve my wood (plastic) ok so it's only plastic.... and no I can't afford a car with real wood, so what, nuffin wrong with that.....
  6. I think that you have to try it to know..... if you don't you'll always be wondering. Mine came with Fujisubo, I love the way it sounds, not too loud, (cept when it backfires at gear changes, then it sounds reeellly cool.
  7. I had the exact same problem. I found out I was still running the original plugs. Changed for the coppers, no probs since. Of course it had to happen on the night i went to the drags, just before I got there!!! oh well 15.4 with a misfire still wasnt' bad, but I gave up after 2 runs. Change the plugs........ I'm sure that'll do it.
  8. Hey Mike, d'ya have a bigger version of that photo.... that's an awesome turn out..... For that it'd be worth travelin'.... (maybe... from Perth....not sure!!)
  9. Hi Guys Mine is a 4wd. It's one of the main reasons that I bought a Stagea. If you just want a nice, RWD car, then the field is wide open. If you want a performance 4WD then the choice is lot narrower. As for the safety factor, well I have NEVER driven any other car flat to boards around a 90 deg corner without wheelspin or the rear breaking away. The transmission/4wd interaction is one amazing piece of engineering. Still have to try it on a skid pan one day, just to find out the point that it breaks traction, and how I can control it. Economy is regularly 420km per tank (City) and over 520km (country).
  10. Consul Classic Estate In perhaps the most radical conversion, Seventeen 2 door saloons were converted into estate form by Nairobi coach builders Cassini and Hughes for the Kenyan Police. Only the Estate shown below is known to survive and now resides in England. And this is how Ford originally thought it should look, (clay model)
  11. Well it is a nice colour!! But it is also a respray, and you're right I too saw it ages ago, about last September. Respray and modified manual conversion, nah wouldn't touch it. Although it is cheap....obviously I'm not the only person that wouldn't touch it if it's been for sale for that long!
  12. Actually I think that you are right Mike. The lights definitely turn on with ignition, they stay on when I turn the engine off, but as soon as I open the drivers door they go out, and the interior light comes on. I think that it is pretty neat. My turbo timer is so shit, that it hardly ever comes on when I think that it should. I have it set for 1 min, all the time, but it never works. Sometimes I turn the engine off, THEN the timer kicks and beeps its way down to zero!! WTF! oh well I really dont care about the TT. But it means that I cant test the lights to see if they stay on with engine running and door locked.... I imagine that they would.
  13. Exactly..... Mine neither.... In theory using the 50/50 will limit the torque to the front/rear, and therefore if you encountered wheelspin, it just might actually be slower off the line. If you get wheelspin.... get fatter tyres!! :laughing-smiley-014: The auto trans is that clever that I just let it do it's thing.... in this case computers rule..... (probably 'cos Bill FN Gates had nothing to do with it. Otherwise you have to have the windows open to start the fkin thing!!!).
  14. Yeah the Prime Edition comes with this... which means I have it (wot you don't!!). Is is nice to have. I like it..... 'specially with Xenon's (wot you don't have these either!). ha ha.. If you are suer that you have the sensor then it shouldn't be too hard to fit.......otherwise.... hmmm who knows? The lights do indeed turn off when you open the drivers door. Also the Courtesy light comes on when you unlock the car(and goes off when you lock it), But maybe this happens on the other models too. The Auto lights are a bit late in coming on, at dusk (i find) except under my carport.... then they come on even in full daylight.... as for turbo timers... I have one, which as Sydneykid says is really not needed. So this does keep the lights on... but seeing as the engine is running ... so is the alternator, so it won't flatten your battery. My TT has a mind of it's own with no logic!!! It is set on 1 min. So it doesn't matter if it stays on, (and most times it doesn't).
  15. Yeah but you will be disappointed if you think that they have memory settings like American electric seats 'cos they don't. They are actually slower to adjust than std seats..... just do what I did, make sure that your 2nd wife is the same height..... problem solved.... :laughing-smiley-014:
  16. I have one fitted by Cruisewest, it is great, use it all the time. Fairly accurate, cost $640... well worth it IMO. It is a paddle on the steering wheel. I am sure that I have saved that much money in being able to thumb my nose at police camera's. Only been done once, (motor bike cop with Laser), cause I got pissed off by a slow driver, and overtook on freeway with foot on floor, luckily the cop only got me for 111km/h...... if he'd been a bit quicker...... well let's just say that the std brakes are fine from about 160km/h...., so although cruise control's don't stop you speeding...... they sure help. I like to use mine in the 40km/h school zones, as well as normal 60km/h zones.... it's so funny watching how many people get pissed off, (behind me). Then I can feel smug... cause all I have to do is boot it..... but as confucious say.... real power is having the power but choosing not to use it. (yeah so you've got an SV8...... who cares?... whooosh!) :laughing-smiley-014: For info check out http://www.autron.com.au/newweb/index1280.htm and just for Hugh, they have fitters all over the country..... tell them that they will have to fit an auxiliary brake switch though. here's what it looks like.... (it's a Nissan Xtrail, but it is similar) Oh BTW... Nissan in their wisdom, never fitted a cruise control (not even in the Prime edition ....how stupid!!) ...maybe 'cos most JDM cars never got over 50km/h..... or run for more than a few kms!!!
  17. Oh yeah good idea, buy a cheap car and mod it up and what do you have? A cheap modded car! Now you gotta ask yourself ....... why is an S2 more expensive? Could just be that they are a bit more desirable! A S1 will always be an S1, no matter what you do to it. An S2 will always be newer, and therefore command a higher price. An Autech will always be..... probably out of reach for most of us...... oh of course an Autech S2...... priceless.
  18. I get a similar thing on mine. Seems to go for ages, I think that Iam doing well in the economy, then in no time the guage drops from 1/4 to fuel light in 10 km. nothing to worry about. Hey there is an upside to the Stagea's (lack of) fuel economy around town. I get about 400km around town, 420 if I drive careful. But I get over 500 on a run. So that means that I can go for a 80km drive at 100km every tankful for no extra cost!! Whooo Hooo free crusin' :laughing-smiley-014:
  19. at 111 k/ph mine ran at $75 but no demerits (100 zone) didn't have time to check revs.......... :laughing-smiley-014:
  20. A few photo's from the Leighton beach stop...... we never actually got to the North MOLE..
  21. Welcome to the fray........... you'll lurve it, once you get it home, (and find out what all the buttons do!!).
  22. Oh well, may as well add my asshole (I mean opinion) to the thread. I looked seriously at one of these, I mean I could buy one for half the cost of my stag. The again, you can buy most Mitsubishi's at half the price of a decent car. Just 'cos it has a similar spec doesn't mean it's the same. I would never dare to compare the mitsubishi build quality with that of Nissan. Besides, that the AYC is REALLY expensive when it goes wrong. And I have never liked the idea of a transverse engined 4WD. It kinda makes it seem like an afterthought IMO. As for the front end...... some people reckon it looks shark like. I reckon it looks like a pussy car. I know the Stagea is heavier, but when I saw poor robs front end ripped off the green machine, without the rest of the car being damaged, well that did it for me...... I don't think anything but the stag woudl have survived that, nor Rob. The fact that the shell has a built-in roll cage, and the ATESSA is freakin awsome. I cant get mine to even spin a wheel in the wet, not even on a corner, (wearing 245 x 18's). When we first got it I was hesitant to let my wife drive it as it had 280hp..... now I woudln't let her drive anything else. I know that she is in one of the safest cars made. (Hmmmm is it starting to sound like a Volvo ad)!! As for the sound of the Turbo spool... I still find myself looking in the mirror thinking I have a cop up my arse!! LOL It sounds like a siren. I have owned 3 Mitsi's and in a word they are good cheap cars, but they loose their value fast. The Legnum's aren't in the Stagea's league. Anyway who wants to own bloody car that sounds like a vegetable!! :laughing-smiley-014:
  23. Hey Russell, depends who complied your car. I was lucky. If you can get the globes back, you can get a sparky to refit them. They do make an amazing difference. Not blinding though. You'll know in time if the km's are genuine. I found out mine were when I changed the spark plugs, all the wiring under the covers has date tags on they crumble when touched, (probabaly due to the heat under there). Mine had 78,000 now 83,000. (see the thread "it gonna be a blue 2007")..... very nice car by the way...... not sure about that VULVA badge though. I used to say to my self only a C**T owns a Vulva. :laughing-smiley-014:
  24. Hey his name wasn't Grant was it?...... It wasn't near a US base was it?......notice that he's been quiet the couple a days?? :laughing-smiley-014:
  25. Hey Sean, are you confused, we're only going near the beach not to the beach. You don't have wear flippers, and thongs has an H in it, :laughing-smiley-014:
