  1. Don't remember the floors creaking last year...maybe that's only in the honeymoon suite Ben? 2 weeks 'till we're on the boat...
  2. Yeah it's our base again :-) SAU catchup definately!
  3. Snowman wont know where to steer without a nav :-)
  4. Oi....just 'cos we're good looking AND fast! Seriously though, have tried numerous times dangling the full Targa carrot in front of Handbags, but to no avail. "You only get to have a crack at Rookie once" says he. Well experience says I get to do it twice! Fingers crossed we can set the place alight (so to speak) and show some form on the results page come Thursday night. Kel, are you guys staying at the Penny Royal again?
  5. Might invest in a few tow trucks to sit somewhere near the 6L off camber...after a run like that to an off camber 6 there's going to be moments/carnage a plenty! Damn you Rookie!!!!!!!! That said, little devo runs out of legs very quickly. She's only geared to 230ish in 5th, so would be sitting at 6.5-7k for a very long time there
  6. I'm in. Thought I would post here as I'm no longer a WRX member...back to SAU

    Superlap 2010

Pretty sure i'll be up there
  8. Pretty sure I'll be there with Newton etc... for spectating. Don't want to miss this :-)
  9. Little Emo spun and decided it would be a great idea to go back down the stage a little to turn around, as where he spun was armco on one side, cliff face on the other...stupid stupid decision. Worst part is, he'll be at Targa!
  10. So for those unaware, Lake Mountain saw some interesting times when a high profile Porsche (may have been driven by one K. Weeks) came upon a fellow competitior coming back down the stage on a closed road...Needless to say, Mr Weeks was very animated when he was telling us at the start line on the next stage. Video evidence has now emerged... You only need to watch the first minute!
  11. I know a short, lightweight one who might be able to help you out Snowy. *My conversion to Emo is going well by the way
  12. You have no doubt seen the incar from Jason/John at Buller last year...the one looking out the rear of the car. One of the best incars i have seen...
  13. Obviously 32 GTRs and Evo 4s aren't video worthy!
  14. Elf Not a lot up top, but the midrange gain was awesome
  15. I did wonder how a 'showroom' spec Evo could be so fast... Can't imagine how much 'fun' 410 rwKw would have been although it was amazing how much grip there was on the last run...we found 5 seconds on our fastest run and Sammy and Claire found 6 seconds. Seems to be that the colder it is there, the more grip there is. Liam, was that you in the Silver 33? That first corner is a doosy. On reflection, i'm of the opinion that the wider entry you take into that first corner, the more likely you are to have a moment or spin. So bring on Targa, we're tweaking the car a little more to get the f/r balance better on less fuel and a little front end alignment tweaking to finsh it all off, oh, and a return to 98
  16. We ran them on the Evo 4 at Lake Mountain over the weekend. An amazing tyre over the 9km stage and certainly a good option now that RE55s are stupidly expensive.
  17. Yeah...the bugger is mighty consistent! That's one fast 'showroom' spec evo
  18. So we had an interesting weekend. Seems the dreaded cold tyres/turn 1 curse was out and about over the weekend. We started off with an uneventful 4:45 and spent the rest of the weekend trying to match and better that time. Stage 2 saw us massively sideways, rear end in a ditch, rear bumper torn off and right rear alignment shot to pieces...all on turn 1. Despite this we still managed a sub 5 min stage time and all we lost was the rear bumper and a little shine off the car! A spin at turn 3 later on in the day saw a 4:57 before the rally gods allowed some form of speed and we finished Saturday off with a 4:43 on Stage 6. Adam took the car back to Techsport for a rear alignment that evening while i found some accomodation and the biggest parma i have ever seen. Sunday saw a much more consistent effort with the only thing effecting our times a damaged Porsche(with oil everywhere) and a little bit of drizzle that we backed off for to ensure a finish. The final stage 10 started off well and only got better as we blitzed the 9.3kms, smashing our previos best by 5 seconds to end the weekend with a 4:37.7. Good enough to be the 4th quickest on that stage. Results saw us 6th outright, with a 1st in class, a great lead-in to Targa Rookie in a month. Was fantastic to catch up with everyone and Jess, Burgo's R looks a heap of fun :-)
  19. Should be fun then Lucky im not a nervous nav
  20. Alright, we're 3 days out from Lake Mountain and there's no talk... We've had the car re-tuned, had the suspension tickled with and have a new set of Yokohama shoes. Looking forward to the weekend and the weather looks ok...24ish on Sat and 20 with poss showers on Sunday. Adam is looking forward to running in the wet...not sure if thats good, or bad
  21. I absolutely LOVE the induction noise from those little 2lts. I was flagging at teh end of the front straight in the arvo, and on downshift throttle blips I was in heaven, not to mention between turns 1 and 2 where you were royally up it at one stage. Sounds fantastic @9k rpm
  22. We'll be there. I'll be in the left seat of the Unique Cars Evo 4 [/plug] Looking for a strong showing with the crazy Newton ^^^ Is that the one that was at Buller?
  23. Well folks...here its is. A new event based in Victoria's north east, Targa High Country, will join established events, Targa Tasmania and Targa Wrest Point, in making up the prestigious Targa Triple Crown. To be based in the Mansfield and Mt Buller area, the inaugural event will be held from November 5 to 7 later this year. Details of Targa High Country were announced this week by event promoter Octagon Australia, with plans already well under way for what will be Victoria's only multi-stage tarmac rally. The three-day event is generating strong interest with entries already pushing 100 plus. Targa High Country will include a street stage of nearly five kilometres through the streets of Mansfield on Friday, November 5, followed by a 'TargaFest' in the main street at Mansfield that night. The event will see eight stages each day heading north to Wangaratta, via Whitfield, and Eildon, via Jamieson. Both days will end with a 20 kilometre stage to the summit of Mt Buller, where the event will be based each night. It is envisaged that the full course, along with stage reconnaissance notes, will be released at Targa Tasmania in April. It has long been thought that a multi-stage tarmac rally was an impossible dream in Victoria. "Targa High Country has become a reality because of the passion and hard work of the Mansfield Shire Council, Mt Buller and Mt Stirling Alpine Resort Management Board, the Rural City of Wangaratta, the Murrindindi Shire Council and the Victorian Police," Octagon's Mark Perry says. "We would like to thank them all for sharing the vision with us and we hope to make some further announcements in the weeks ahead." The event entry fee is less than $2000 and offers a competitive distance of 230 kilometres. Targa High Country will operate independently from any other tarmac rallies in the region. RallySport Mag I'm far more excited than I should be at this early point in time
