  1. ive been keen to try a 29r. thing that im worried about is tyre selection. well that and the fact i cant afford one anyway, haha. mines just a regular 26" with 26x2.5 tyres. probably a bit too fat, but they were free and so nice skids so i'll run them till they wear out which by the look of them will be a long time, haha. couple of pics from today... made me almost fall off my bike laughing. Pirie Street, Adelaide Reserved parking ;P Finally got a decent panning shot of a messenger with this Lumix. Kinda hard as im used to AF-C that focuses as you pan, so I had to guess where he would be riding and pre-focus there and hope for the best, lol. great way to finish of a hard days work
  2. oops, double post. spotted this awesome looking Elgrand on the way home. It's an E51 model and not sure what rims it was wearing, but damn it looked nice. This was my attempt at a rolling shot, lol. Day 020: 2010-11-09 by jay019, on Flickr
  3. 20101103-091904 by jay019, on Flickr haha, yeah i did this massive bunnyhop onto a bus and then front flip up to the tenth floor
  4. had to share this one. had lunch in one of my favourite spots in the city, 10 storeys up... Day 019: 2010-11-08 by jay019, on Flickr
  5. agreed. i had shots taken with a d90 and the stock 18-55 that were published in this months Fast Fours (page 70-75 *plugplug*) so yeah, the lens does its job well.
  6. love that poster matt, looks awesome! ah, nice Slim, love the second one, makes the building look like its a massive lighthouse, lol and heres a self portrait i took yesterday, just for lols
  7. my pic of the photos from today... was hoping the Lumix would come to the party and was suprised that it did. got the reading from the building and then re-framed to put the sun behind the chimney. i think im starting to become a fan of contre-jour, i rode around looking for other interesting into the sun type shots, but came up with nothing. oh and farris, LOVE that wave shot! waterproof camera housing, or long lens from the shore? either way, absolutely awesome man!
  8. wow sam, love the hdr self portrait. i take it it was from 1 shot in RAW? and that vid was sweet. was wondering how you got the shots. i imagined you had the camera hanging out the car on a pole or something, haha. id love to give the rolling shots a go in the back of the elgrand. heres a shot i took on my mobile today, of a photo i took back in November 2009. was taken using the stock kit lens that came with the camera (as were all the static shots in the feature) Fast Fours, December 2010 Page 70 (go buy a copy, lol) took a few more shots on the Lumix today, havent had a look at them yet, my legs are still sore as, lol.
  9. the rolling shot from today didnt work out the best. i really need to have it mounted and use a remote shutter. the G11 would be perfect for this if i could work out a strong and stable mounting system. its also todays pic from my 365 project
  10. damn those rolling shots are awesome! i took a few 'rolling' shots of my own today. i'll post one or two up if they came out ok. was during rush hour tho so might be a bit blurry as it was starting to get dark. took some vids too, really want a go-pro for it tho so i can ride properly while filming, haha.
  11. is knowing how long the shutter has been open really important for light painting pics tho, specially when using bulb? in my case it is as the shutter will close at a specific time, but if it was on bulb i would be loving it as it would give me the chance to worry more about being accurate and complete rather than rushing to get everything done in a pre-determined amount of time.
  12. but, back on topic... hmmmm. obsessed by a number much? a quick shot in the Brookman building at UniSA. the squeaky staircase freaked me out, didnt sound too safe, haha. i should get some pics of the woodwork too next time im there. such awesome craftsmanship, something thats lacking a bit in buildings these days. pity about the blowouts on the left hand side. but meh, its a point and shoot, what can you do, lol. if your keen, this is where i keep uploading pics taken during the day (public link, you dont need facebook) http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2071...mp;l=24f11db5f3 will save me spamming this thread all the time, lol.
  13. dont be, so far ive estimated my income will be around the $200-$250 mark each week, lol. i reckon i would be better off staying on the dole, haha.
  14. i prefer the top one. much better exposure, no glare on windscreen and upper body. wheels also has much smoother motion blur. but thats just me. the background in the second one conveys the speed a bit better i think
  15. ah ok, so you reckon it would be ok for removing scribbles over the top of graffiti? cause thats a major PITA to remove just using a clone tool (some times impossible, well with my limited skills, lol) EDIT: OK, just saw a vid and man, nearly fell off my chair! The highest ranking comment says it all really... "Wow. This is probably is the closest thing as a 'make awesome' button would do." damn, i really should get to know all the tools in CS5 seeing as I'm using that, lol.
  16. indeed. awesome job of cloning out the power lines, if you didnt see the before shot you wouldnt even know. whats the content aware thing you were talking about? is that in ps or lr?
  17. New month... new job. So, re-started my career as a bike courier today. Took a few pics when it was a bit slow (ie almost all morning, lol) And damn Matt, awesome shots!
  18. :'(
  19. cheers man, i need to get out and do more, but my car has no rego and im pretty slack, lol. and cant wait to see your graff shots. seen some from south sydney that absolutely rock. and todays effort, lol. self portrait... spent so much time trying to get my timing right that i forgot to make sure the ISO wasnt too high. doh! i really should have got the G11 out for this, but seems the Lumix is always my first choice. ive grown to love it, warts and all, haha.
  20. i thought those tats were pretty nice. not like this... http://ugliesttattoos.files.wordpress.com/...w=500&h=375
  21. hell yeah! so smoooooooth
  22. its not the tool, its how you use it. and damn you used it well, such a moody shot. nice. and matboy, damn i love that flying pelican shot the more i look at it, awesome work man.
  23. first shot would look better if the light trails led to the car instead of going through the car and forward, if you know what i mean. nice concept tho, but watch your white balance.
  24. my pick of the bunch, love it dude!
  25. i think his concern is that it will wear out the shutter faster? cause thats one thing i was (sort of) worried about.
