  1. ah ok, didnt know that. lol. it was a semi impulse purchase. id researched the G11 and liked the features and when we were looking in JB Hifi I asked to use my partners card kinda tongue in cheek not expecting her to say yes, lol. the G11 was the last one they had so I got a decent deal on it. they didnt have any S series cameras in stock, the S series dont have hotshoe for off camera / trigger flashes. they also have a smaller optical zoom than the G11. i can also make my own remote cord for the G11 which i dont think the S series offer. the G12 isnt available there yet and apart from HD video (which i dont need anyway, Lumix does that) I cant see many differences in the specs. but yeah, it isnt available there yet anyway.
  2. yeah probably, lol. but in regards to if it works with 'any' camera, this is for Canon point and shoots only. there is a list on their wiki of supported models but apart from the G11 most are models I couldnt find on teds etc, so probably slightly older models. which could be an advantage as you could pick them up cheaper on ebay etc. and yeah, that office clean up was crazy. i need to do another night driving one tho, as thats still my fav... http://vimeo.com/10483550 all done manually, lol.
  3. zipties. what cant they do? ghetto suspension lockout mod...
  4. here is one script... http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/UBASIC/Scripts:..._Intervalometer and more info about CHDK etc... http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK including a list of cameras. its not the easiest thing to work out, i havent really done much with it yet. been a bit busy. but you can do it with a DSLR too, $50 ebay intervalometer and a nikon D90 made this... http://vimeo.com/11002342 zennon will be able to explain it all a bit better as i suck at explaining things, specially when my understanding of it is sketchy at best, lol
  5. well i did it... convinced my partner to let me use her GE money card and got a canon G11 on 6 months interest free the other night. awesome little camera. small size but so many features. it shoots in RAW, has built in ND filter, full manual control, can macro up to 1cm away from the lens, swivel LCD etc. can even use a 72mm CPL with the extension tubes I bought for it, can use canon speedlights with it including full manual control via menus and when i can afford it I can grab some cactus flash triggers for it too. spewing the mid range canon flash (430EX II) is a good $100 more expensive than the nikon sb600 tho will probably just get a 240EX to start with as you can find them for around $180 delivered. all in all i reckon its an awesome camera, even if i'll be eating 2 minute noodles for the next 6 months while i pay it off oh and one of the main selling points. CHDK the 15 second max exposure limit can be extended to over 5 minutes. plus I can write scripts to control the camera so no need to buy expensive intervalometers for timelapse stuff. only limitation so far is that CHDK only works on 2GB cards reliably, will try on a 4GB card soon, hopefully that works, specially for time lapse.
  6. wouldnt CMYK mainly be for offset printing instead of photographic printing tho? have to admit, when it comes to printing of photos i dont have much of an idea, ive only ever had JPG's printed and half the time they were from GIMP which saves in 8bit only, not sure what difference that made, but they looked fine to me.
  7. I was dead set against the idea when i had the dslr, cause its such a pain in the ass taking it everywhere. but the Lumix is always with me, so I know that when I see something interesting/disturbing/different during the day I'm always ready.
  8. dunno man, they have been there for quite a while already. cctv all over this bee-arch, lol. couple more pics from today... 3d graff? lol
  9. ooh. is that a machine that slowly moves the camera? i started a 'photo each day' type project today (day 1 pic in the october thread). will be interesting to see what kind of photos I take as drift, graffiti and light painting are banned from my project to ensure that I try and shoot something different and new (to me anyway) seeing as i start my job as a bike courier soon there will probably be plenty of pics of the inside of elevators no doubt although, seeing as im already a 'collector' of graffiti photos I reckon im going to be weird and start collecting pics of elevators around the city, lol.
  10. so, decided to start a 365 'photo each day' type project. seeing as i'll soon be back to work as a bike courier I will be on the move constantly and the aim of the project is to keep me looking at the world with fresh eyes. i should probably set up a blog type thing on my website for them to get put, but for now i'll stick with chucking them onto facebook. will be interesting to see how long this lasts, lol. anyway, here is day 1... "so many people can barely afford to eat, yet we are so 'rich' we use money to pave our footpaths out the front of high street shops."
  11. haha, how random! mine is currently kitless as the kit is getting molded. we are hopefully going to graft different fronts onto the sideskirts.
  12. yeah i reckon that would work well. there is no general photography thread is there. haha, the gauntlet has been thrown down. good luck all
  13. ah cool. thought it had to be done in post unless you got a perfect cut out of yourself, lol. nice work. and wow Lepperfish, that 5d does perform well at high ISO's. although for live gig pics i like a bit of grit/grain.
  14. nice work Matt! im loving the second one. seems to have the most even spread of light and not as many hotspots. awesome work dude. although, only thing i'd do different is add some more light to the ground. kinda looks like its floating in space, although that could just be my monitor being dark? love the one above it too. how did you do the white part tho? im trying to work it out, lol. and got a shot of that graff by itself? (cant help myself, love graffiti, haha)
  15. cheers guys and sidd, damn dude, you get some awesome gigs! even the unpaid ones are sweet as man.
  16. if anyone has a few seconds to spare, could you please vote for my entry in the 'crap pics' competition. im trying to win myself a new DSLR (as there is no way I can afford a new one) and yeah, thats the prize of this comp. http://www.wildfireapp.com/website/6/conte...p;order=recency if you do vote, thanks heaps, its much appreciated oh and canon fans, it will bring me over from the 'dark' side, hopefully thats some incentive for you to vote for me
  17. ah damn, forgot this was on again. would have been nice to enter and at least dream about wining a 5D, lol. might have a go at brief 5 seeing as its an open brief. would be extremely funny if a Lumix took the winning photo
  18. it was only the one shirt. i never really liked it, but some people were going to make an anti-penguin.com website so I thought id contribute an image for them, lol. was a pretty bad week, haha.
  19. they look dodgy, but most times i've been there during the day and that makes them feel pretty safe for some weird reason. i consider the tunnels the safest as its not that likely that you'll run into anyone. i guess i dont really think about it much.
  20. Yeah, I had some left over paint in the shed so thought i'd have a go. Ran out of white tho as I only had two 1/4 full cans. But found a few good pieces to light paint, just got to work out how im going to get there as the skyline is playing up. :'(
  21. did some painting tonight. first with paint... then with light... lol. yeah I think I'll leave the graff to the pros.
  22. lol. if it was, it moved pretty damn good for a solid snake. at first i couldnt believe it was real, the bloke who owned it even said it was remote control and i believed him for a second, haha.
  23. this was pretty random. was down at the beach today and there was a couple sitting at the picnic tables with their snake. as soon as they invited the kids to give it a pat my kids wouldnt leave it alone, lol. not something you experience every day. im loving the Lumix. always ready when you need it.
  24. (quoting as it deserves to be on this new page, lol) awesome!!! love the reflections in the water. and i know how hard it is to correct perspective changes by hand. top work! well done man.
  25. yeah pretty much, the led is almost touching the wall most times (well for outlines mainly). i sometimes end up with pretty badly scraped up knuckles as im tracing them out, lol. im looking into a better set of tools soon as these have translucent cases and if i dont hold them right i get double lines and other things happening. ah yeah the slide switches are getting a bit frustrating too, often cant slide them off in time and have to redo things a bit. to get some ambient background colours stand further back with the torch, but hit it at around 45 degree angle or so to minimize blowouts and reflections. in the first two of the last set you can see a bright spot on the bottom of the wall where ive rested the torch on the ground so i have a little light to see what im doing, but as im looking at the LED's while tracing as soon as the lights off sometimes i cant see where the next line starts, haha. and showing you up? i dont know about that, lol. this thing has limitations, but i take that as a challenge rather than a defeat
