  1. yeah man, 30 - 60 seconds exposures and pretty much just trace the outline with an LED trying not to get in the way of the lens and accidently block the light (harder than it sounds at time, specially in tight places) haha, nah no lasers, but if i had the money for a few diff coloured lasers I would love to use them, would open up a few more possibilities.
  2. so, went back out into the cold and dark to vandalize the neighborhood with light once again. some worked some didnt, but had fun regardless. love the feeling of anticipation as you wait to see what comes up on screen. anyway... I'm going to redo this one. So damn dark in there, I keep forgetting where the lines need to go, haha. Was a bit ambitious, very technical and again pretty hard to see. Pretty stoked with this one. Colours came out pretty rad, lines could be cleaner *shakes fist at slide switches, lol* not sure this one was worth the effort. had to jump a fence effectively locking myself in, lol. if security had come id have some explaining to do as theres no escape, haha. cant wait for tomorrow night, haha.
  3. dont you need a registered company name?
  4. cheers man. for such a small camera it never ceases to amaze me. yeah its got some limitations, but if you can look past them its also got more capabilities than you would expect. i'll have a good look at your site when I get home, but from a quick glance I'm loving your night time car shots. inspirational
  5. thought id have a go at a night shot of the 31 with the ol point and shoot 30 second exposure in starry night mode. lit with an LED torch covered with diffuser material, bare torch used on ground and behind car. sucks that im getting so much green ambient light from the street light out front. if ive got the motivation i might go somewhere nice and dark tomorrow and try again
  6. cant we all just live together in peace and harmony? lol. (when i get it) this will actually be the second canon ive owned. the first being an eos5000 film camera. will have to dig out some of the slides i took with it and get them scanned.
  7. aw, dont be like that if i ever get a DSLR again it will be Nikon, i still love them (just not their p&s cameras). is the 'pilot' like a test button maybe? EDIT: ah yep, thats what it is, good guess, haha... http://www.yn560.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3 ... http://digitalphotographer.com.ph/forum/sh...mp;postcount=19
  8. haha, yeah i was thinking you'd have to be taking the piss yeah im liking the g11 because its pretty much a dslr, without the temptation of buying new lenses for it. some cool features packed in there too, like the built in ND filter (3 stops). and considering the features in the g11 i dont think that any entry level DSLR of a similar price can compete really. can even do wireless flash with the g11 and with the lens tube thing i can use a CPL filter (58mm ring) so yeah it tics all my boxes (ooh, lol) main reason im looking at the g11 is the nikon equivalent uses a proprietary RAW format and i wont be able to do conversions in photoshop using camera raw. i could buy and use their capture nx software, but from what ive read its windows only so meh, nikon loses a fan, lol.
  9. ive had more success bouncing flash of ceilings than pointed at subjects. not sure if your being sarcastic or not tho, lol. and that light painting shot is pretty sweet dude. i cant see the details in the wheels on my monitor, but i think in general if you can brighten them a bit that would be good. still better than any ive done so far. might be getting a new camera soon, been checking out the canon g11 and i like what i see. they have just dropped to below $600 at jbhifi too, might see if i can convince the missus to loan me her GE card.
  10. haha, love this thread! i always thought that a mobile phone only photo comp would be an awesome idea. heres a few of mine, just ones that ive posted on facebook, cbf looking through my phone to see if there are any better ones. now that i own a light and small point and shoot that is always in my pocket (well in a case on my belt, lol) i tend to use that for quick snaps so probably wont use the mobile camera that much. enough blabbering, heres some pics... zipties, what can't they do? lol, not a very exciting day at the track spotted this out the corner of my eye, so whipped out the phone um, yeah i got a bit depressed about selling my gear. gotta admit tho, pretty cool pic for a phone camera, haha. never get a child to do a mans job. install unix! wasnt sure if i could pull this off. the key is to take the pic a few seconds before the rider even hits the jump. by the time the phone has worked out its meant to be taking a pic he will be in the prime location my cheeky little ones. love these guys so much <3 (awwwwww ) might come back and post a few more if i find any on my mobile i think are worthy.
  11. thanks for the feedback guys yeah selling the camera did suck a bit, but knowing you made the responsible choice for your family makes up for it. and i know this wasnt taken in october, (sorry its only a few days off ) but heres a photo of my R31 taken with the Lumix. pretty decent for a p&s, just wish i could chuck a CPL on it to reduce reflections
  12. yeah man, im an old man 34 with 2 kids (4yo boy and 3yo girl) so yeah, they come first. will keep posting pics up, gotta so many ideas i want to try and having a visual record of my progression would be nice.
  13. yeah, I was spewing at first (like almost a breakdown, lol) but once I got used to the idea i realised it was in the best interests of the family and thats more important than my personl desires. and nah, no more drift for me. im not even going to try using the p&s for drift as i know it will be unsatisfying. theres plenty of others out there doing it, just wish they would actually get stuff published to justify the 'media' they all use in their names. and cheers man, its actually really cool to finally be able to mix my love of graff with my love of photography in a creative way, as opposed to just taking pics of graff (although i still love that, the feeling you get when you see a new burner is hard to describe, lol)
  14. Havent posted in here for ages. Had to sell my DSLR gear to pay some debts but couldnt handle not having a camera so I bought a Panasonic Lumix FH1. Its cheap and the lens has some nasty softness near the edges, but it will have to do. Best thing about it is its light and easy to carry around which has actually increased the amount of pics I have been taking. Anyway, I'll link as thumbnails as there are a few from this month, so click on them if you wanna see the larger versions. Graffiti Shots: (most of these i wouldnt have taken with a DSLR as its a pain to carry around, specially in tunnels and stuff) http://photos.jay019.com/graffiti/ Light Painting: (a couple from late last month, meh) http://photos.jay019.com/random/ The new family bus: http://photos.jay019.com/e50_elgrand/ And thats about it so far. Will be mostly concentrating on light painting pics as they are pretty fun. Wish I had a bit more control over exposure, but ah well, least I have some kind of outlet, lol.
  15. Heres another timelapse, but i think the interval between shots was a little too long. http://vimeo.com/11002342 And a couple of pics from Drift Super Cup from that weekend... Cant put too many pics up just yet, but heres a few for now. http://photos.jay019.com/DSC_2010/ I'll add more to my site later, still got a few articles and stuff to sort out.
  16. ok, not quite a photo, but a video of 391 photos combined, lol. pretty half assed attempt by a tired person driving home from drift practice, but its something ive wanted to do for a while so i thought stuff it, i'll smash something out quickly. here it is. http://vimeo.com/10483550
  17. er wut? im from Adelaide, South Australia anyway. dont have many photos to post up this month, but heres a video i made from 391 photos... http://vimeo.com/10483550 (dont know how to embed it)
  18. i reckon the framing and composition could do with a little work. like one of those pics there is almost not space between the cars and the bottom of the photo. just tilt the camera down a tad and it would have been sweet. saying that tho, im no expert, thats just my opinion.
  19. if you want to get involved you just do it. there are no 'motorsports photography' courses that i know of. get some pics published and then apply for cams in september, easy as.
  20. more pics coming out in next months mags. please excuse the phone camera pics tho, lol. HPI Magazine Fast Fours (yeah i know its late, im pretty lucky its being run at all) also have a shoot coming up for Fast Fours soon. and possibly a couple more if I play my cards right. and somehow got roped into doing some video work this thursday. will be interesting trying not to click a shutter when critical moments happen, lol.
  21. Nikon GIMP - awesome free & open source image editing/processing program (think photoshop without hefty pricetag and a few less features) Automator - For watermarking using... Bash script i wrote that calls... Image Magick (command line tool) - resizes, overlays watermark and thumbnails. Photomatix - HDR images. But am starting to experiment with qtpfsui a free & open source HDR program. Inkscape - awesome free & open source vector image creation program (think illustrator without hefty pricetag and a few less features)
  22. um yeah, helps if you link to pics on the web and not your local server bah, quoting as you cant edit posts after a few seconds. lol
  23. couple from march. still no shots taken away from drifts yet, lol. a quick and dirty hand held HDR
  24. and some pics from my mates private property the next day plus a few of me having a go, lol. http://photos.jay019.com/jdmx_20100307/
