  1. ah nice one kory. how did you light that? couple of speedlights, gels? ive got two speedlights now and only just starting to learn how to use them properly. will be a bit of a curve for me, im used to straight up motorsports where flash is actually a no no, lol.
  2. She may be old (and beige), but i love her all the same. She now has all straight doors and guards. Also has a beige bumper too. Once i have done a few touch ups and a bit of a tidy i'll shoot a few more pics of her.
  3. cheers dude. i do other stuff aswell, like car photoshoots and lightpainting. i really should have started a general thread instead of just a drift photos thread. but if your keen you can check them out on my website at photos.jay019.com
  4. Couple I did tonight just messing about. Bit messy, need practice and a darker location *shakes fist at streetlight* http://photos.jay019.com/random/
  5. im considering getting a cheap second hand film camera for star trails. would be much easier in the end than all the work you have to go through to make it work with a digital camera. main issue is the dew on lens. but if you can find a way to control the ambient temp around the camera it would be fine.
  6. How so? I wasnt drinking. Anyway, another first for me in 2010. My first light orbs and a spiral for good luck
  7. cheers dude. in a couple of shots I was pretty much the clipping point, lol
  8. JDM.X.PARK Went out to check out the new track owned by James Mardle over new years. What can I say, the place is awesome. Views you cant get anywhere else and so many lines to explore. I'll let the photos do the talking... photos.jay019.com/jdmx_20100101/
  9. Time in my camera is off, but this was taken on the 1st... My first drift photo for the year, maybe even one of the first drift photos taken this year by anyone? A couple of random photos taken while um 'in the new year spirit' i'll say, lol. And this is a merge of 6 photos of the moon. I tried creating letters/numbers by moving the camera. Harder than I expected, lol.
  10. So, jumped on a plane and jetted over to Hobart for a squizz at the Oz Drift GP. I had never been lucky enough to see Baskerville Raceway before but I am so glad I went into debt to get myself over there. The track is sick! Cambered corners, elevation changes and so many cool shooting locations all make for an awesome track for drift. Was great to see a few mainlanders quickly getting used to the track and treating it as if it was their local. But to see the locals showing how its done was a sight to behold. Ben Purtell's massive drift around the big corner at the top of the track for the extreme entry competition was a highlight of the weekend for me. Another highlight was getting a shot of Nigel Petrie with massive angle on the end of the main straight. Must say a massive thanks to a fellow photographer David Clifford for picking me up from the airport and giving me lifts out to the track after the other offer I had turned out to be... lol. Anyway, I got there and I took some pics: And the winners: Street Class - Brendan Mansfield Pro Class - Leigh Pidwell Full results are on the Oz Drift GP website at http://www.ozdriftgp.com.au/ More photos will end up on my website at http://photos.jay019.com/OzDriftGP_2009/
  11. G1 Round 3 2009 (Part 2) More will end up on my site at http://photos.jay019.com/G1_2009_R3/
  12. G1 Round 3 2009. Possibly my worst day shooting at mallala. lol. heat, insects and dehydration = grrrr. haha. Was a good event although didnt have the same feel as earlier rounds. Massive congratulations to Jake Jones stepping up and taking out the win! Well done to everyone else who turned up and drove despite the heat.
  13. Private Track Day - 28th October 2009 I started organising a track day and things were not working out how I planned so when Team Truck Factory asked to take it over I thought that it was a good idea. I've been to one of their days before and it was well organised so I knew the day would be in good hands. Thankfully the day went down with only a few minor incidents but damn was it hot! Mallala must also have one of the worst breeding grounds for those tiny little flys that like to get in your eyes, ears and nose. lol. I ended up leaving early cause I had enough of being out in the sun, but got a few pics before I left. http://photos.jay019.com/ptd_2009-10-28/
  14. Drift School Finally a school that people cant wait to get to. Mallala hosts the Drift School a couple of times a year and it is always a success. It caters for drivers from the most beginner level who wish to learn car control and basic drifting skills up to advanced / competition drivers wishing to hone their skills in a non competative environment. With the states best drifters doing the teaching you are bound to learn something no matter what your skill. I love watching drivers confidence grow during the day ensuring that the afternoon open practice session often leaves me wondering how so many people can learn so much in the space of a single day. If you have ever wanted to try drifting I highly recommend giving the Drift School a go. More will be added to my site over the next few days so keep an eye on it. I got at least one decent shot of each car out there, I'll add one or two shots of each person to this thread when I have time. http://photos.jay019.com/DS_2009-10-24/
  15. Drift Practice - 17th October 2009 First drift practice since daylight savings started which meant an extra hour shooting. Had a try at a couple new angles and some will definately get a revisit in future. Forgot to change the white balance once the lights turned on so a lot of orangey photos, but oh well, you get that sometimes. lol. Anyway, heres what I got. Will add more pics to my site so check there for more. http://photos.jay019.com/driftprac_2009-10-17/
  16. Bit late, but these were taken in November...
  17. Did you HDR those pics? The colors (specially on the top one) just absolutely pop! Love graff pics.
  18. thing is though mate, microsoft is banned in my house. even my router and gps are free from microsoft software. lol. and if i could buy an all in one monitor/case solution in parts you dont think i would do that? got any links to where i can buy an apple monitor case and the componants to suit?
  19. i never thought i would ever use a mac, but then i got into photography and wanted a large screen computer with balls. didnt want to pay a windows tax and while linux and gimp is good, mac and photoshop are better. having said that though, i never got around to buying photoshop and still use gimp but on a 24" imac. lol. works well for me though, much better than trying to edit pics on a 14" laptop that slows to a crawl once you open about 7 images. haha. its been a while since ive had a proper play with any new OS but while there are some things i think could be done better on a mac overall i dont mind it at all. works well and hasnt failed on me once. and having a unix base is always cool as i still find myself using the terminal and doing things with shell scripts via automator. so yeah, i'm pretty happy with it.
  20. ok, sorry im pretty stupid and not understanding. im using virtualbox on my mac (and on my linux laptop when away from the desk) as virtualbox costs nothing to install and that way i can run windows in a window so it wont bring my whole computer down when it inevitably dies in the ass.
  21. hey wow, i think i do remember seeing you at DA. I had the penguin hat on and the yellow vest with the penguin on it. i was also the only one who had a plastic bag over their camera for the short time it rained. lol. me and s15pwnd from ns were going to PM you for a night photo session on sunday night but were way too buggered by the time we got back to the hotel.
  22. which one of those is virtualbox by sun microsystems?
  23. Not at all. It was also loading a heap of other drivers that I didnt have hardware that matched. Think i'll just stick to Linux and MacOS.
  24. And heres a shot im proud of from a private day on monday. My first decent result at 1/25th of a second...
  25. And just a few from a private track day on Monday. Even includes a shot at 1/25th of a second. (The green car)
