  1. i dont take many 'selfies' im no model, thats for sure, haha.
  2. ah, thats cause its HDR. its pretty sloppy, lol. im far from pro, hoping one of the pros will start posting up cityscapes for me to learn from
  3. which ones? not sure what you mean
  4. been busy with school lately, so not shooting as much. but heres a few from the past couple of days... (sorry about facebook quality)
  5. i use it a bit for graff shots. like joining up multiple pics of long walls and removing trees and stuff. most times when doing the joinups i just use the automated tools, but it doesnt always go to plan... i also use it to fix stuff like flash glare... and to fix pieces attacked by the comsec wankers...
  6. i havent used it to fake bokeh, but one of the things that gives it away is the unfocused ground right under the in focus cars. wouldnt happen with an in camera shot. maybe try to fade out the selection on the plane where the focus would naturally fall. also, did you feather the edge of the selection or do anything to 'refine' the edges? not a bad attempt, much better than some I have seen thats for sure. but yeah, still has a few of those tell tale signs that are easy to spot. the bottom two arent too bad, but the top one its a bit easier to spot. awesome lighting and perfect white balance tho (something i worry too much about, lol) and composition is spot on.
  7. definitely software. you can see the edge of the selection in the first pic (looks like a halo around the cars that is slightly brighter than the rest of the background)
  8. see, didnt take long at all, haha
  9. ^ exactly. just takes practice is all. just gotta practice your swings, its all in the hips
  10. love the flame shot up top there Matt kory, love the shot of the dude with his helmet on, the rainbow of bright colors on the visors just does it for me, what can i say, lol. dan, awesome portrait, lighting looks spot on! love the framing on the two (targa?) action shots. just need to work on the panning a bit, but looks promising
  11. oh look, the corpse twitched
  12. love the rim lighting! was thinking it would look nice if it was a little more complete, but the flash would have to have been higher im guessing? only other thing id try and do different is move the horizon up or down, but probably because im so stuck in my ways in regards to composition, lol
  13. watched this burner get painted last night. 10 seconds, ISO 80, f5.6 (i think), Fluro white balance, lit with LED torch.

    Go Pro

not sure, ive never changed speed of footage before. pretty sure you could do it in editing tho. only thing i know about it is the 60fps is best for clearer slow motion footage.

    Go Pro

i mostly use my gopro for stills these days (point and shoot fisheye camera ftw!) but I recorded a little bit with it. i used the imovie app on my mac, not the best app, but does the job for simple edits...
  16. ah fair enough. looks like a rad spot. i just used a monopod bolted to the rear rack with some hose clamp things i bought a while ago. needs some work, but does the job. aweomse seascapes!
  17. damn, too late to edit. oh well... set up a rig for my scooter today had a go at removing the pole and shadow. got the the tyre and gave up, i dont have the skills for that, haha. its a monopod mounted to the rear rack. can still extend out further, but have to find somewhere with plenty of space and little traffic to try it out
  18. i was cheating tho, my camera is a range finder so I can look through the viewfinder. it was a heap of fun tho so i'll probably give it a try again and see what I can come up with. A DSLR would go black as its taking the pic which would make it heaps harder. love the atmosphere in that shot i agree, point of view is awesome and the framing is spot on! only thing i would have done different is stand on the other side of the pylon. or maybe even standing closer to the camera, like on the rocks in the foreground, walking toward the bridge. man, wish we had stuff like that down here to discover. did you change the aperture or shutter speed between shots?
  19. thats a sick pan kory! even inspired me to click the link to check the rest of the article speaking of pans, walking home to the train station tonight id thought i would have a go at stupid long pans. this one is 1 second. theres more on my flickr (linked from this pic) if anyone is interested.
  20. good to see you experimenting, love seeing what you can come up with. have you tried playing with strobe gels? you can get a free ROSCO sample pack from... http://www.rosco.com/australia/sbreqs/index.cfm I was using them to match color temps just before I sold the DSLR and strobes. not always spot on, but with some experimentation you can get so close that its hard to tell which light is from one source and which is from another.
  21. Nice dude! Only thing I would suggest (and im surprised it wasnt mentioned yet) is to diffuse the light source you are using to avoid the stripey effect your getting, where you can see each individual LED as a single line in the group (unless you dont mind that effect, in which case dont listen to me, lol) Other than that matching the different light color temps is something you could work on. You have the warmer tungsten lighting in the interior of the car and then the colder LED lighting on the outside. You could probably adjust the color temps in PP if you shoot raw or take one shot for the warmer light (tungsten white balance) and one shot for the colder light (fluro or thereabouts white balance) and then blend them together in post. Again, if the different color temps dont bother you then no need to listen to me, lol) The framing is awesome and love the red from the tail-lights, very nice. Matt, that second shot is messing with my head man, im trying to work out how the car got so blue considering the lighting in the rest of the scene. its like a motion light painted shot or something? *brain expoldes, lol*
  22. dude! congrats man. your in for some awesome times. just get used to very little sleep
  23. er, its an inanimate object, lol. love those interior shots, so damn good. that burnout shot looks rad too. and nice work nick, post more pics man.
  24. my old bike is getting around...
  25. just tried using the battery in the scooter to power my spotlight. worked well for a few minutes, lol. need to sort out some kind of dual battery setup. although, this thing runs on the smell of an oily rag so i could just use it as a generator
