  1. congrats bass junky. You have yourself a very beautiful wife there! Take good care of her! All the best for the future and enjoy married life!
  2. I'm getting the same thing done to mine shortly and I'm just going to let the workshop choose the best one. I have no idea but it would be nice to know what is ok to use.....
  3. nice pics, I like how in some of them there youv'e gone from R32 to R33 to R34 like some sort of mechanical montage..... nice work !
  4. I havn't been to a cruise yet but this would be a good excuse to go to my first....... I'll try and keep an eye out in the southside area if it comes north of logan but unless it's being driven around in peak our traffic I ain't going to see it.......
  5. I'd put it down to just being a demo. check the requirements of the demo and compare to your laptop. For me it does freeze a bit at that point you described but it does get past it. Freezes for maybe a second if that though for me.
  6. Erm, it depends on what has been done to the 33GTR. Are you after speed and power? Or are you after specifically a 33? Sounds to me you're not all sure, take your time do a bit of reading on the forums and do some research on the cars you are looking at in person. Don't just jump right in waving your money around and expect a nice car to suddenly appear. Look around and in the process get an idea as to what mods etc. you want on the car.
  7. Wahey, that was me in the 32 GTR. I think first time I've been spotted. Nice car! I just finished work for the day so I was half asleep but saying that it's hard not to notice a bright yellow R34 filling up my side mirror! I hope you didn't hear my embarassing clunking noises as I drove away? Can't afford new bushes for everything just yet! I must have passed another 3 skylines just up the road after I saw yours, a black R34, a maroon R33 and another R33. Didn't get the plates or even time to wave though.......
  8. Yeah, I found out my GTR has a bent cross member and having adjustable castor rods solved the problem of the car constantly but ever so slightly pulling to the left. Might need another alignment though as it's now slightly pulling to the right. I'll be taking it back to my mechanic soon anyways. Well done on your restoration! It's looking fan bloody tastic!
  9. I guess it depends on your driving record more than I thought. I've got an 89 R32 GTR, I'm 24 and I pay $1200 a year, fully comp with an agreed value of $23,000. Only 2 speeding fines no license losses. Edit: forgot to add I'm with justcar.
  10. "The driver recorded a blood alcohol level of 0.108 per cent, and has been charged with driving." Just read that article about the dood who crashed his car into the house with a blood alcohol level of 0.108. As the article states, he was charged with driving? Typo I know but maybe it's a crime now to drive your car......
  11. I have an R32 GTR I use as a daily driver too. I've only had it little over a few months and a few gremlins have come along. I needed to get the clutch rebuilt and currently it's getting the ECU remapped. So far spent over 2 grand on these things so my advice is when buying a car as old as an R32, keep if you can about an extra quarter or fifth of it's value in your bank account. Keep it the way it is for a few months after you buy it and pay for any repairs that are needed. Service it regularly and it should be ok. Lucky for me my engine was rebuilt shortly before I bought mine, so far the engine has been running well except for the ECU needing to be remapped. As for daily driving I do'nt need to drive far for work so it's not running up many km's. So far it's a money pit but I prefer to drive a money pit that is my choice and the car I like rather than some slow ass hatchback for the same price. go the GTR, you only live once!
  12. I'm currently getting my R32 GTR's ECU chipped and retuned because it was running far too rich. It had a mine's ECU in it and it probably was in it when it was shipped over from japan. The spark plugs started to foul up after I drive it for some time. Especially once the engine becomes warm the stuttering and misfiring became worse. When I drove it to the mechanic it got to the point where I really didn't want to push it above 3 grand cause it was spluttering and misfiring like mad. I figure due to auto choke it doesn't misfire when it's cold. I think replacing the spark plugs is a short term fix and the best thing to do to get peace of mind is take it to a decent mechanic who can suss these things out. I first took it to a mechanic who spent alot of time looking at AFM's, intercooler piping etc. He was adamant it was one of the AFM's but he didn't even check the coil packs and spark plugs. oh and also my cat converter was clogged due to all the unburnt fuel causing the engine to not run optimally as it was forcing against all the built up crud. Either way, it could be any of the things I've listed above or a combination. Either way it'll just frustrate you as it did me, until you grab your shovel for you money pit and take it into a mechanic..... unless you can retune an ECU by yourself! If you can let me know! good luck
  13. when you experience the "wobble" that you're getting does it feel like a forward/backward motion or a side to side motion? One of my mates has a magna with a loose engine mount and when he sits in drive at the lights it shudders to all hell but that's cause it's really loose. Could be a loose gearbox or engine mount etc. but then again could be something else. Either way sounds like you'll end up at the mechanic soon enough with it on a hoist cause it'll keep doing it and you'll get sick of it soon enough. good luck finding out what's wrong

    Theft Tip

if you accidentally leave the steering wheel in the car for instance and the thief takes it then you're left with no steering wheel. I guess taking it around with you all the time would be inconvenient. You could perhaps try and accessorise and strap a piece of string/rope around it and make it into a necklace. Failing that, and doing the obvious (immobliser/alarm installed properly etc.). I can't remember where I read it from but quite some time ago I remember someone suggesting a simple and effective method involving razorblades and bluetack under your door handles........ Just remember they're there when you go to open your car! ouchy!
  15. I ended up getting my osgiken twin clutch rebuilt and the flywheel machined for a total of $1300 including labour. It feels alot better and gear changes now are a breeze. No slipping in any of the gears so yeah I'm pretty happy with it for now, just hope it lasts me awhile.
  16. i'm in the southside area too, I'll keep a look out for it. However by now it could be anywhere. Skylines are always an easy target for car thieves, there are lots of them out there so if they come across one with a car alarm and immobiliser it won't be too long until they come across one that doesn't. I guess you can never be too safe but yeah. Good luck with the insurance, I hope you get renumerated quickly and properly. Especially this close to christmas.
  17. I feel for you dood. I had a car stolen a while back and it was never recovered. I learnt my lesson and now have insurance and a top notch alarm imobilser system for my current car. You can never be too safe. Lucky you have found your car again. I suggest your next few pay cheques be spent on a decent alarm and immobliser. It's good peace of mind even if you are parking it in a secure complex. LoL at the 3 people in a skyline thing. I'll be sure to travel with only one other person to avoid being pulled over by police!
  18. Hi Guys, I have looked over the threads here and there is a good deal of information regarding what clutches people have etc. I've had my R32GTR for almost 3 months and after going uphill in 4th gear realised my clutch is slipping. I have a twin plate OSGiken clutch. I've gotten some quotes from a mechanic: Rebuild: which includes rebuilding the current twin plate OSGiken clutch and machining the flywheel = $approx $1300 including labour. New single plate clutches, different types they told me, one was a brass button one, the other was an organic single plate one, the brass button one was $100 dearer but with labour came to about the same price as the rebuild because I would most likely need a new flywheel with the new clutch. I would like to keep the twin plate if it means better gripping and gear changing down the line when I hopefully conjure up some money and get some mods done to increase the hp. My engine is pretty stock except for 2 airpods. However I was also thinking whether or not a rebuild and remachining would be as long lasting as a new single clutch, if the single can handle approximately 350kw (which is about as far as my money in the future will probably take me) it might be the better option now if it would last longer. Currently I'm leaning more towards the rebuild, mainly cause I get to keep the twin (as a new twin would cost more than the rebuilt one) and it works out to be the same if not cheaper than the single options. Just not sure if it would last as long as a new clutch would. I'm not a huge car racer or dragger if that helps. Just want something decent. Willing to pay the money mind I don't want something for nothing, I just want something that's worth it and both options seem to have their good points. Any input would be helpful to make up my mind. Cheers
  19. free time on a dyno is always good! I got my GTR back today from the mechanics and they replaced the booster unit for the clutch and I would have to say it's better but not fixed. They showed me the old one and it indeed had a crack in it and I have noticed with the new booster when I put the clutch in my revs stay stable. As for the the idling problem though my mechanic told me that it's all due to the ECU. He thinks it's from another car setup for the same engine but with different mods if you get my drift. The guy who had it before me either got something done to the ECU or it fount it's way on my engine from another engine when it was rebuilt a year ago (before I bought it). Anyhoo my mechanic has recommended I get a Power FC, especially if I want to pursue any modifications in the future. I was wanting to get one down the track anyway but yeah, I don't really have the funds at the moment. I'm going to take my car to another mechanic though just to get a 2nd opinion if my problems are indeed because of the ECU. I know the guy or garage that rebuilt the motor so at least I can contact them and they would have the best idea as to what the problem is and if it is the ECU hopefully have some idea as to what has been done to it. I'll let you know freeman if I get it sorted out but as for now it's just running richer than it should. The spark plugs start to foul up and that's when it doesn't ignite properly and it just splutters. So he told me to just flog it and it will clear out the spark plugs! oh well, at least it gives me an excuse to boot it out of corners now good luck getting to the bottom of your idling problems
  20. I currently am having my R32 GTR looked at because of similar symptoms you are describing. I've had the AFM's checked = ok. Hydrocarbons put through any air pipes and intercooler pipes etc. to check for leaks = ok. spark plugs and coils = ok. Today I was told by the mechanic that because I have a vacuum assisted clutch when you put the clutch in it draws on air (I'm not entirely sure of the details here). But suffice to say it makes a sucking air noise when you use the clutch (twin osgiken plate incase it makes a difference) and lately I have noticed my engine can rev higher or lower a couple of hundred rpms when the clutch is in, up or down it's random sometimes it's fine. I'm getting a new vacuum booster thingy (forgot the actual name) that should hopefully fix the problem of the clutch drawing random amounts of air. It's possible that it's also randomly leaking air so the engine is'nt receiving the proper air fuel mixture. My symptoms are that the engine will idle a bit rough on warm up but when it's warm and you're idling it will randomly idle lower and start to cut out. So far it' hasn't stalled and if I accelerate it will go away and happen only when idling. When it cuts out and splutters it blows a bit of black smoke. It also sometimes happens when I"m driving and that feels horrible cause you lose power. I hope all this helps you. I'll keep you posted if this clutch vacuum booster thingy is in fact the problem causing what I have cause it's something I didn't think about when the problem started happening to me. It would be easier if the problem happened all the time, but cause it comes and goes it's hard to figure out. good luck
  21. Couldn't agree more. I didn't mind NFSU2 on pc but I managed to get a cracked version of NFSC and I aggonisingly plugged along in the game till the point where I did a drift........ Deleted. Car didn't handle at all it was as though they change the handling characteristics for different race types. What I could also not understand was the ability to tell your "friend" to run someone off the road so you could win a race! Talk about the damage costs and bad sportsmanship?
  22. I spotted 83 GTR as well I think on tuesday afternoon. We infact spotted eachother on miles platting road near the logan road intersection and had a little chat. His car is pretty much the same as my GTR apart from the wheels.
  23. Yep, that "teeter totter" is the best term to describe it. Now I can tell people how it sounds instead of trying to compare it to something. I'll leave the factory BOV's on. Thanks for all your info and help guys.
  24. I have noticed when I boost it and start to back off around 5 grand it will let off a series of sounds, anywhere from 3 to about 5 or 6 of them (hard to count cause it happens fast). Havn't really experimented by backing off quickly or slower to see if it makes a difference. Are there any other symptoms of compressor surge? it doesn't do it when I boost and change gear, only when I back off and stay in gear. Also how bad is compressor surge to the life of the turbos? if I avoid boosting and backing off in the same gear will the turbos etc. be ok? Cheers
