  2. Hi All, R33 S2 I've had my ABS light on for a few years now and whilst did try and diagnose the issue I suspect its a faulty abs pump. It's never bothered me but this year they have picked it up on my rego check!! Does anyone know of an easy way to disable the light without me waiting for a replacement abs pump?? cheers
  3. selling my car! http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Nissan-Skyline-1996/SSE-AD-2296714/?Cr=1&sdmvc=1 negotiable on price
  4. Thanks Angus!!!! Appreciate the advice and help! Will be coming to you for my ute! I've added an image of the Dyno sheet after ESP did the turbo. Its doing 225rkw on 11psi. just a note that I'm the 2nd aus owner of this car and I bought it when it had just over 100k so I put the 200k on it. All the work that has been done has receipts from Trojan / ESP, etc I'm not in any rush but by the same token if I sold it quickly id be happy
  5. Thanks for the comments guys. Not interested in replacing the dash, etc. The car is what it is! I know its got a lot of k's but its been looked after and drives well.
  6. here are some pics from the last time I spent some time doing a proper clean. Car still runs well with no problems (only one I can think of is abs light!!!) so I would hate for it to go to a home where it gets thrashed!
  7. thanks for the feedback guys I'll see what the trade in offers are like - its a shame about the km's as it looks like it will impact the price big time. I've got my heart set on a ute now! Yep all services done. I've always made sure that when something wore out (shocks, clutch, turbo, etc) that I tried to do things right. GCG turbo is 12 months old (over 2 grand), clutch is 18 months old (2 grand) coilovers about 24 months (2 grand) etc, etc Happy to hear any more comments - ill have a look at what else is out there and what they are going for see if I can price it accordingly. It drives great but I do understand about the kms! Thanks!
  8. verms no idea what it is worth these days - hence why im asking
  9. I figured that - hence why I'm considering trading it in if its not worth selling privately.
  10. haha yep!!! I was wondering whether to leave that off. even when I had the hi-flow done the guys didn't believe it had that many k's and went how it does! The k's are mostly mine as its my daily driver - always serviced every 5000 and has had its timing belts, etc.
  11. Hi Guys, So of late I've started thinking of selling the skyline as I'm looking for a ute. Wondering what sort of money I could be chasing? Car has been serviced religiously and mods have all been done professionally done. It runs perfectly and the only reason for the sale is I want a ute Car is: R33 S2 skyline Silver body in perfect condition 30x xxx kms 5 spoke 18inch mags GCG Hi Flow Turbo TRUST turbo back exhaust Coilovers Heavy Duty clutch Running safely on 11psi and dyno'd at 226rkw (turbo can handle a lot more) Any thoughts on what I should be asking for would be appreciated. I'll work on finding some pictures!
  12. So the more i think about this the more i think its to do with the BRANT alarm. Has anyone had this issue with the alarm? I suspect relays on it? Just dont want to go pulling it apart without some advice!
  13. thanks for the replies guys! I'm not sure how i can rule out the immobilser and suspect maybe the immobiliser has relays that could be heating up. Definetly not fuel... Tried the igntion trick and the accelerator and both have no affect! thanks for the advice. Coolant temp sensor? How can i check this I have no idea about it!!? thanks!
  14. thanks for the reply. No noise from the starter motor at all!! I know the first time this happened to me the NRMA got me started by hooking up power directly to the starter motor. Hence why suspect its the ignition not passing the signal to the starter
  15. Hi, Recently my R33 has been having trouble with hot starts. Ie, will start fine in the morning but if i drive for a while and then stop it wont start straight away. I have to either push start the car or wait till the car cools down before it turns over again. The car has an alarm and it looks like everything is disarmed except when i turn the key no signal is getting sent to the starter to kick it over! Anyone has any ideas what to look into? Does the r33 have a starter relay? or likely to be alarm? Any suggestions appreciated!!! cheers
  16. Thanks for the replies guys - appreciate it. Car is NSW registered. I have no intention of driving a car with illegal mods, this is my daily driver car so I really need to make sure it stays on the road. I was just curious as i thought I had done everything legally - ie I purchased the specific bracket for the pod so it was secure, etc, etc. I guess i was wrong but then again I had been talking to Canberra mechanics. Not Queanbeyan. Never knew about the adjustable coilovers!!!!!! I've already ordered a box for my Pod - happy to put that on ASAP. I'm not worried about my ride height as im quite sure this is much higher than needed - its obvious. I guess I'll talk to someone about getting the coilovers engineered - Not really keen on doing this as I only put them in as my original shocks were stuffed. Definetly not complaining about the mechanics that did the check - and will not be adding them to the discussion. I just thought it was weird cos in my mind I was doign everything right!! Lesson learnt! Thanks again
  17. Hi, got pulled over by qbn cops for a standard RBT (they had a setup). After the check, the cop asked whether my car was supercharged! I said no, It is a factory turbo at which point he asked me to drive further along to another cop. This is where it got interested. They insisted on going over the car (which is a relatively stock R33). They said the following (I'd be interested in whether this is correct?) Pod Needs to be boxed, i received a fine for this (I was of the understanding it just had to be mounted with a metal bracket which I have dont professionally. I also advised that the car had been running with that for 4 years and passed rego inspections (nsw) each year. Coilovers. Apparently coilovers are illegal?? you are not aloud to have adjustable front suspension? I'm thinking WTF considering these were bought as 'street' coilovers and professionaly installed. I ended up getting a warning for these. Turbo Timer, Apparently any turbo timer that continues to stay on after the key is out is illegal? (ok surely this is a joke?). I advised him that he turbo timer had been professionally installed and the car turns off if the handbrake is realeased while the turbo timer is on. At this point they decided to give me a warning for this. Ride height, I got a warning for the road height even though it is running at stock height!!!! was told because of the exahust (Trust power extreme 2) that it would be too low. All in all I guess I should feel lucky that i only got the one fine and the rest were warnings. That said, I really felt like they didnt know what they were doing and were just trying to get me for something. Strange considering I was especially polite to them! So my main question, Is the pod illegal if it is not boxed? Is there any point asking for leniancy based on the fact that it has passed rego so often? Any advice would be appreciated.
  18. Hi, I know this is a very long shot. A friend of mine had her number plates and some petrol stolen. Last thing she needs. Was done while she was at home at Curtin. They were on a cream Hyundai Accent. Thought i'd ask ppl to keep and eye out for ACT plates YBR 78G - If you come accross them please report them to the police. Am holding back on what I really want to do to these f*ckers. thanks
  19. ahh ok.. so this would be the case even though it is intermittent? ie. sometimes i can drive it and nothing happens - even hitting high boost sometimes it will happen at 3500 (before hitting high boost) and sometimes it hasppens at high boost. I would have thought if it was ECU it would be at a consistent spot? cheers
  20. thanks for the replies. As said this came from shop which are a very reputable mob. I don't ever touch any of the car myself and this includes upping or lowering the boost!! They had it on the dyno and managed the boost, etc through there equipment. They agreed with me that I want it to be as reliable as possible as it is my daily driver. This was done so that it wouldn't lean out etc. Don't get me wrong, they seemed quite surprised with the power result of the car (as was I!!!). I wasn't too fussed about power output, just wanted to make sure it was reliable but am really happy with the power it did make! I spoke to the guys again and they said it would definetly be a faulty coil pack. they were happy with the car with everything else and said given it is so intermittent (sometimes happens at 3500rpm, sometimes 5000rpm and sometimes it doesn't). Rather than get them to change coilpacks and plugs (quoted at nearly $900!!!) I thought I'd see if I could do some of this myself as funds at the moment are running low! If it gets any more difficult than plugs or coilpacks then it will go back to the shop!! thanks
  21. ok. I've popped the top of and got to the coil packs / plugs. Changing plugs will be my next step - though wondering if there is any way to determine whether one of the coil packs is stuffed? I thought runnign the car in the dark might have shown sparks if there was a crack. i may have been wrong but I definetly didn't see anything. any help appreciated!
  22. Im in Canberra.
  23. Hi guys, thanks for the replies. I'll look at plugs in the short term future.... well buying isn't a problem just that I dont't want to be changing them myself. All advice appreciated.
  24. thanks for the replies again. the boost controller is just the manual boost T, the cheap $30 ones. not sure i get how the boost is working, well specifically why the minimum would be 1 bar? my standard turbo was set to 10psi. now with the hiflow the shop set it electronically to 11 (ok well on the dyno sheet that is where it is making the power). that said, my gauge can be pushed to 14. Fuel pump is stock also.... my plan was to only upgrade things when and if the break. Hence the turbo. Thanks again!
  25. thanks for the replies guys. In terms of the tuning im not exactly sure. Basically my stock turbo let go so i got a GCG hi flow. The tuning was on the dyno to get it perform as best as it could without comprimising reliability. It is my daily driver so I need to make sure it is reliable. like i said I was surprised surprised to see the dyno sheet (225kw) and how amazing it runs. most times the car is spot on and feels great. only occassionly when i drive it very hard (which i dont normally do, did it to see how the turbo felt) does it do it. I have a feeling it is the plugs or coil packs.... not that id know. If it is - considering that hte problem hardly ever happens could i be causing any problems be driving it like that? thanks for your the replies!!
