i think u mean that the 4 door skylines are family cars if that. dont forget skylines hav also been about performance, unlike the commos and falcon who hav had performace forced on them. i agree there are levels of sports cars but not to the point were a skyline is a family car and a 200sx is a sports car. some people would say that porsche and ferrari make REAL sports cars(compared to japs), some would not

still the falcon ISNOT a sports car and neither is the GT nor a hsv, granted they are nice family cars and hav the looks and power, r34 gTTs do a low 14 so it could keep up with the falcon, they weight just a bit more then a r33 i think (1450kgs??)

saw a new VY HSV clubsport outside my work wif p plates on it today. apple green colour wif big 19s looked pretty nice for an Aus car actually. i personally hav nothing against them and like the look and raw power

nah he has different plates and lives round tullamarine, got a gtr kit on it, dabigdolf i thought that thepower to weight ratio bs was only when it came out of factory as they cant prove if its over the limit accuratly wifout a dyno. so wat happens if u get caught again?

im also in that similar dilemma, got the $ for series 2 line wif few mods and getting my Ps in a month and a half, but i got an aight car now so ill learn a bit on that for the first couple of months on my ps and c how i go i guess

yeh but would u say it is enforced FULLY? if it was the govt would b even richer. if the cops wanted to they could b real pricks and give p platers a 105$ fine for simply driving a car deemed too powerful. and believe me i know alot of people who own r33s 180s, SS's, supra TT RZ and when i ask em if they ever been hassled by the cops bout the power to weight rule i hav to explain to them wat it is. most of em havent even been defected or even pulled over more then once or twice and they r on their Ps.

id hav to disagree as my mates who just got their Ps hav vr ss's and VT ss. ive seen p platers driving the new xr6(non turbo). none of my mates hav been hassled. on my block there r like 4 v8s on Ps alone.

here in meblourne we hav the power to weight rule limiting a p plater from driving any car wif 125KW @ the wheels. the r33 is above this by bout 3 or 4 KW. but still i c p platers driving wrxs, r33s, 180s, 200s, even a yellow lambo at auto saloon.... im turning 18 in 2 months, i will either by a r33 S2, 200sx or 180 afta i get about 3 or more months expierence wif my current car. the rule doesnt bother me as it is bs and is not enforced(most of the time anyway). if it does get enforced i will probably move interstate. in theory aiight it seems like a good rule but fast cars will only b fast when they r PUSHED, i currently hav a 2L celica and for a NA it does go aiight, it dont matta wat car u driving but the ego u hav. u c many accidents wif cars being wrapped around poles but when u think bout it was the driver driving sensibly? i think the death toll will unfortunatly b less then it is, the govt is beating a dead horse by lowering speed limits etc. people will die on the roads, anywhere in the world. in other countries u can go 300Km on the freeway so i think the rules r strict enough here

how much do garret gt35/40 turbos cost becoz i hear they r excellent for their price

i 100% agree wif Edge, as im turning 18 in 2 months and hav bout 20G to spend, insurance wif just cars for a r33 gtst was 3500, which to me aint worth it, maybe for the first year of driving but thats it. if u hav a good alarm setup and r careful on the road i can almost garuntee that if u do hav an accident it wont b ur fault. put 4000 in the bank every yr just incase u hav an accident. thats my plan, ill get 3rd party F&T. i mean if u hav full comp and u dont hav an accident congrats, but u just got raped 4G. everyone is different though and if u want more peace of mind then full comp is gonna get it.

wat the aus govt does to car comsumers is disgusting, forcing ppl to buy either family cars, goofy young ppl cars, or the occasional aus delivered performance car like wrx which IMO is rather ordinary now, the comsumer is king period, just because the aust govt cant keep unemployment down is no reason to pass the cost down to hard workers wanting to buy an imported car. as i was saying im goin down to NZ either this yr or the next and if i like it i may consider moving down there depending on the circumstances, btw i hear they are no way near as strict as us on mods etc, anyone fill us in??

i dont think any insurance comp offers full market value for 3rd party as ur only paying $700 F&T where the car could b of $XXXXXX value, alot of ppl would do insurance jobs if this was the case. howeva i may b wrong

yeh NZ is home to imports as they hav no import tax, also they can import wateva car they want(unlike us where we cant import cars that hav been aus delievered)... lucky bastards. do they hav strict mod laws like us??? coz im gona go there these summer holidays or next yr maybe. btw is that you in the avatar next to the ferrari? how does the beast feel/look in real life?

i heard ferrari do custom make their cars to suit the buyer ie RHD etc. the enzos cost close to 1.8 million i think and i hear they rnt drivable on australian road......any one got any facts?

bak on the subject of power to weight rule in victoria, to me(and most skyline p platers) i dont even consider it a factor in chosing wat car to buy, if they threaten to take my licence ill move interstate , less revenue raising and i can drive a ferrari enzo if i chose to(or can afford it) lol

i did find a flat 14 sec TT soarer to b a bit hard to believe, they r more flat 15 as far as ive heard. as for the ss utes, omg for a ute wif barely no weight in the bak end they still weight almost as much as a 4 door commo....

350z is an animal of a sexy car, 210KW from a NA V6, like to c holden/ford match that(and then match the price lol). id imagine a twin turbo version would b deadly or would a single turbo conversion hav more effect like a supra?
