hi all, recently purchased a V35 skyline coupe which I'm hoping to collect friday. Checked the wheels and tyres that were on the car and surprised to see that the owner was running 245/40 18 all round. Now I know this isn't healthy for the car in the long run, so with the least amount of cash ...what is the best way to get proper specs....do I go with 225/40 18 on the fronts and leave the rears...or 265/40 18 rears...or what other size tyres (looking for a more common size which is usually cheaper) can i get without having to replace all 4 cheers

nah....dude at tempe said he wouldn't sell them separately is coz its low volume stock and he doesn't want to end up with odd width rims that no ones else buys. Pretty sure that there's plenty of forum members running staggered wheels and I've never heard of these being illegal, but you may be right.
-
oh...and if they make them in 19 X 9.5....then I'd prefer those to 8.5's
-
ok...so here's the deal. I'm planning on getting a set of Tenzo R Dc-5's in staggered fitment 19 X 8.5 +22 19 X 10 + 19 only trouble is, the only place that I could find in Australia that has stock of these wheels are tempetyres. I called them up, but they are not willing to sell them in staggered sizes so I will need to get a full set of 19 x 8.5 (4 pieces ) and 19 X 10 (also 4 ..apparently these were specific for the GTR). I'm not sure of the colours available, but I'm just putting it out there if anyone is interested in buying these with me and we can then swap 2 fronts and 2 rears to make 2 sets of staggered wheels. Leaning towards maybe a timeattack white....but I'm open to any preference coz I can always get them powdercoated. Also, another thing is .....most pictures of these wheels on the internet shows that the rims are straight faced and not concaved. The guys at wheelworx told me that with low offset, the wheels are actually a nice concave....so I was thinking get the 19 X 8.5 +22 first....and if its not to satisfaction....then sell them off and split the loss. PM me if your interested.

Chrome Door Protector Removal
fcruz3r replied to fcruz3r's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
that's exactly what I meant. so its just stuck to the door with like a double sided adhesive tape?? yea they are rather unsightly but i guess it does help if you arnt the type to look carefully before opening the door. -
hi all, just wondering how to remove the chrome door protector that runs all way along the side of the door (on coupes). I've noticed this on 2 silver coupe and think its probably an accessory that they install in japan. How can this be removed without damage to the paint? cheers

so how low can you go on a coupe before it becomes a real pain to drive. was driving one today lowered on what look like king springs, didn't look that low (bout 2 finger gap tyre to fender), but going over what was a little chamfered driveway (was like a raised zebra crossing)...felt a huge thud at the rears which i thought had caught the axle...look under to find a skid plate on the rears....how weird...dont know of that many cars with skid plates on the rears.

phew thanks guys.

hi all, I'm looking at purchasing a V35 coupe from a private seller. Had a look at the Rego Papers and under the "Body" section, it said "SEDAN"?? are coupe's simply classified as sedans? I cant find my old rego papers for my previous 2 door cars so I can't recall.

How To Adjust Rear Camber?
fcruz3r replied to xscape237's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
so basically +/- 1 degree on the stock camber bolt is possible. That's what I thought. Shouldnt need more adjustment even on a really low car. -
How To Adjust Rear Camber?
fcruz3r replied to xscape237's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
when you say "not enough adjustment" for a lowered vehicle, how many degrees / minutes can the stock camber bolt change camber?? +/- Most cars I know of dont really have excessive camber changes even when slammed...usually aftermarket options are a last resort to actually dial more negative camber than what the factory bolt will allow. -
Restoring Side Skirts To Factory Colour
fcruz3r replied to Easy Tiger's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
go to supercheap auto and buy a bottle of "mothers" back to black. it will mask oxidisation and remove any polish/wax residue. look for a little red bottle. -
Fs: Titanium Muffler For Cheap
fcruz3r replied to spikey's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
cool thanks.... looks exactly like the one in the OP some china stuff are actually not too bad quality. i found that in some of the stainless steel exhausts that the fiber packing gets burnt out pretty quick and you do end up with a slight rasp to the note. having said that....i've had HKS mufflers that droned so much it gave me a headache -
just get some run flat tires if you're afraid of damaging wheels.

mind sharing that ebay link?? -
why on earth would u spend money on a tpms??? 20bucks at repco buys a pressure gauge. Just check every 2nd day or so
-
does the V35 give a bulb out warning if you change the T10 license, blinkers & fogs to LED??
-
in some cars you can get away with aggressive offsets by having a slight toe-in and negative camber (not that the negative camber helps but usually helps when u have a positive toe)... not sure about the alignment specs for the V35 though. Also go for lighter wheels to reduce unsprung weight as this plays a bigger factor to cause a "tramlining feel" than the actual offsets.
-
ah ok....that totally makes sense now. I didn't realise that the coupe's came with staggered sizes from the factory. I was comparing this with my beemer where I had the same problem but managed to run staggered because the overall diameter were almost equal (factory tyres were same profile front and rear).
-
maths looks complicated. But I plugged the tyre measurements in 1010tires.com for comparison and this is what it came up with Tire 1 - 235/35R19 >Search Tires Tire 2 - 275/30R19 >Search Tires Section Width: - - Section Width: 9.25 in 235 mm Section Width: 10.82 in 275 mm Rim Diameter: - - Rim Diameter: 19 in 482.6 mm Rim Diameter: 19 in 482.6 mm Rim Width Range: Rim Width Range: 8 - 9.5 in Rim Width Range: 9.5 - 11 in Overall Diameter: - - Overall Diameter: 25.47 in 646.93 mm Overall Diameter: 25.49 in 647.44 mm Sidewall Height: - - Sidewall Height: 3.23 in 82.042 mm Sidewall Height: 3.24 in 82.296 mm Radius: - - Radius: 12.73 in 323.34 mm Radius: 12.74 in 323.59 mm Circumference: - - Circumference: 80.01 in 2032.2 mm Circumference: 80.07 in 2033.7 mm Revs per Mile: - Revs per Mile: 816.6 Revs per Mile: 816.0 So to me that looks close enough on the difference on circumference, unless I'm totally missing the point again?
-
so whats the tolerance like? i mean in terms of % difference in diameter would a 235/35 19 and 275/30 19 work???
-
hi mate, can u pm me a price for the tenzo Dc-5 version 1 (in timeattack white or bronze) with the following fitment 19x8.5 5x114.3 20offset 19x10 5x114.3 19offset
-
so you can't run staggered wheels on a V35??? bummer....that was my whole plan for the car!!!

Looking At Purchasing A V35
fcruz3r replied to Danny105's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
thats exactly what I want to do...that way i can watch fast n furious DVD's when driving just for the inspiration...LOL j/k -
is urs a manual or auto??? ...sorry I'm just contemplating buying one but I have heard some horror stories about the transmission in these and that the syncro's are exceptionally prone to fail in the earlier 2003-04 models coz they came with 2 plates instead of 3....but that was my own internet research and I dont know how common this is (ppl only report problems on the net...so anything u hear is always negative)
