Looking At Purchasing A V35
fcruz3r replied to Danny105's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
ok....just an update on my search for a v35 (not that anyone's interested) I test drove another auto coupe again today and the only thing I can say is that I was totally wrong about the acceleration. I now think that the other 2 which I test drove at the dealers were either repaird damage...or severly lacking in compression this car i drove was a rocket. It propelled this huge 1500kg+ lump from 0 to illegal faster than ...well faster than i could realise I was above the 70km/h speed limit. cornering was superb....ride comfort was like driving my favourite sofa (minus the pack of chips)....just hope my finance gets approved coz Esanda doesnt want to touch it...and banks want credit card interest rates for it any advice on the best place to get a loan would be appreciated ( I need about 13k ..if that matters) oh ..and i know I've asked this same Q from different angles (yes i am a retard) ....but is it possible to get an aftermarket DVD Changer to replace the Jap spec one and have this play DVD/CDrws on the screen?? and the digital display on this car showed 8.8l/100km and had just the stem of the leaf in green?? ..is this normal? can u trick the system into showing this? -
Thanks man. Looks like he's only got 5 &6 at the moment. Think I'll give this car a pass and look some more.

unless u car is lowered or sports a bodykit of some sort...i'd stay away from matt black....try hypersilver as they seem to "pop" more...or bronze btw ...chrome will make ur car look fully sik.

Looking At Purchasing A V35

I've had the grounding kit on 3 cars now and I can't say it makes a difference in any...so I doubt that it'll be any different. the "JDM" smell I was referring to seems to be unique to all japan spec cars that have sat in the yards for a couple of months...If you look into a jap auto yard...all cars smell the same. Not to say it stinks...just peculiar. and you're right about the auto's being laggy...it was as I suspected. Guess its just different coming from a smaller inline 6 BMW where its quick off the mark but has a gutless top end. -
Looking At Purchasing A V35

well I havent bought the car yet. Just test drove to find the best one for my budget. Strange how both the auto versions that I've tested so far had the exact same laggy feel. Thanks for the headsup on compression tests...I will definately put that in the conditions of purchase btw...any hints on how to get rid of that "JDM" smell from inside the cars??? had the exact same thing in my stagea and left it out in the summer sun a couple of times to try "dry" it out ...but the smell stayed from the day i bought it till i sold the car. -
Looking At Purchasing A V35

so I test drove 2 auto versions (both 2003 models). Sorry about all the questions but I have 3 nagging issues 1. Was there significant upgrades done to the interior in the 04 model? 2. OK, it satnav is an expensive conversion, what about changing this to play non-japan spec DVD's? 3. most crucial of all is ....on both cars i test drove...I guess I was expecting to feel a lot more of the 282hp 350nm torque....what I got was a laggy low end and constant gear changes when driving around the 50 - 70km/h (i.e: it was almost undecided and was like hunting gears)....but of course put my foot down (an I mean literally floor the gas pedal) and then the car takes about 2-3 seconds to think....then wakes up and surges forward. Is this normal?? are the gear changes and lag in power delivery to protect the g/box?? oh and a quick poll... given 2 choices 2003 - black all leather interior 48500km 2004 - cloth trim with 54000km both cars are in practically the same condition and price is competitive...which is a better bargain?? ...unfortunately redbook doesnt show price difference between the varying models available. -
Looking At Purchasing A V35

so without the tv mods, all the screen is good for is displaying the Nissan logo when starting the car?? how much does it cost to mod this to display local satnav + play generic DVD's??? Is this a DIY??? -
The only ones there that I think may be illegal are 1. eyelids - apparently distorts / blocks the lights 2. Exhaust - grey area...they will check emissions/sound 3. xenon - if not OEM...then definately illegal. 4. airpod - illegal. Apparently it alters emissons.

mods, please help me move this to the general WA section. thks

Hi all, I'm currently in negotiations to buy a V35 line, owner of the car says that he bought it in Sydney and had it shipped to Perth and now has WA rego. What documents should I request for to make/verify that this car 1. Legit 2. Easier to sell in future 3. Easier to get finance approval 4. get a bit of background history of the car 5. hasnt been in a major accident/insurance claim in Sydney?? << does a REVS check span across state borders? also appreciate if you could tell me what other important things I've missed out. Thanks all.

So Im Looking At Buying A V35 Coupe
fcruz3r replied to fcruz3r's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Hi Hicks, Thanks for the input man. I'm definately biased on getting the v35 now. Was previously contemplating My05 Wrx sti or the V35, but I think I'm a tad too old for a boy racer car. I'm not really looking into importing the car myself...rather getting one off carsales or even swapping my BMW for one plus a cash adjustment to the seller. There's a couple in the pipeline but its down to the changover price and also the condition of the car...coz i always keep my car in impeccable condition and I expect the same. -
if u want cheap + reasonably good tyres...get the Federal's 595 or Archilles ATR they are cheaper than the nankangs with better grip and less road noise. Dont know about wear rate though coz i've never kept a set of wheels long enough to wear the tyres out.

So Im Looking At Buying A V35 Coupe
fcruz3r replied to fcruz3r's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
we get raped on insurance here in WA I've read on the forums here of some ppl rebuilding the gearboxes on these cars....is that common or does that only apply to the cvt transmission?? do u have any regrets or personal gripes after owning the car?? I know on my stagea it was great when i first bought the car...but after a while I found that it would take too much $$$ to make any decent power and even then the weight was going to always be an issue. thks for all the gr8 input so far guys. -
Hi All, My days of driving a german import are fading on me and I was looking at getting back into a skyline...but to keep the missus happy...I'm looking at the V35 coupe for easier financing etc anyway I'd really like your honest opinion on a couple of things 1. What are the obvious signs / common problems with the semi-auto V35 coupes 2. What kind of gas milage are you getting in your cars ....obviously i dont expect it to sip like a hyundai getz...but I dont own a petrol kiosk either. 3. Bodykit ...where do i get the nismo reps here in oz? 4. what did you pay for insurance...ballpark .....?? << oh and this applies to the not so young only ...i:e: youngest driver > 30yrs thats all I can think of atmo....plz feel free to chime in your personal experience. am really excited on this.

Anyone know a reliable place NOR to get my rear fenders rolled to clear larger rims?
-
seems like beltronics is a popular choice here. I have the valentine v1 with euro mode. multinova detection varies from anywhere between 500m and 250m but has saved me plenty. Best thing about it is that it picks up signals from all angles even the rear. It's hit n miss with laser though, unless you get laser bouncing off another car, by the time they hit the trigger it already too late. Laser travels at the speed of light, so if the detector goes off and you dont get pulled over ,chances are it was a signal bouncing off another car which they had targetted.

rims look good as is mate. If you paint them, they'll look cheap coz 3 piece wheels usually have the centre piece one colour and the studs in polished or chrome. you will prolly have to leave the outer ring with the studs and have just the spokes painted.
