japan yahoo auctions is your best bet if your looking at coilovers but with a tight budget. my rs4 is sitting on stock shocks with tein s-techs..lowers the car by about 1.5inches and is a decent ride...less body roll and slightly firmer than the stock setup...but not harsh at all.

i agree there's no load on the turbo, but somehow i guess even on idle the air has to pass through the intercooler...and therefore i suspect that the small r34 smic just does not have the capacity to cool down the airflow.. its not like massive power loss...but just that i dont think the cooler works on boost pressures above stock....those that have used the stock s1 coolers and "upgraded" to the r34 unit will definately know what im talkin about.

might be off topic here ...but was there much drama's fitting the kit in? ..i upped my stocko cooler to a r34smic unit ..but to be honest..i dont think this was a worthwhile upgrade as i cant feel any increase in power...and after some stop start traffic..the car still has the same sluggish performance from heatsoak...so im thinking of getting a china cooler kit.

Mate...hope you can take criticism ...but how did that car win the Wrx Club 2006 award? ....look pretty bog standard to me..apart from the rims?? I've personally seen way modded cars than that. Dont take it the wrong way aight...it looks like a very clean car.

r34 intercooler and shroud will fit on the s1, you will need to reuse the top right hand intercooler mount as the r34 ones wont fit and putting the plastic undercarriage guard back is a real bitch coz the r34 intercooler sits like 1.75 inches below the stock s1 cooler.

i read somewhere that the turbo actually continues spooling after the engine is turned off and therefore with the engine off and the oil pump obviously not running....the turbo spools without any oil and may cause premature wear on the bearings, the turbo timer is to keep the oil pump running and feeding the turbo whilst giving time for the turbo to slowly stop ....but hey...i probably read that off the back of a turbo timer packaging (aka marketing gimmick)

EBC ...yes definately worth the price...although some are using the $22 manual boost controller without any problems..so its all a matter of whether u rather spend the extra money elsewhere... TT ...u can get a generic one which works just fine.

now i know my reasoning may sound really rice... but i fail to see why all the big brand names like apexi and hks with such a reputation to uphold will venture down the turbo timer manufacturing path just to capitalise off others ignorance with no real benefits to using the product. I have a TT in my car (a generic brand one tho) ....normally i set it to 0 mins...but on some spirited driving days i'll leave it to run for 2 minutes before shutting down

Does anyone know where i can get a shift kit / valve body upgrade done in WA? thinking of doing a fluid flush & change on my AT ...so prolly makes sense to upgrade the valve body at the same time. p/s: would this upgrade cause any premature wear/damage on the AT?

apart from the vents on the side...looks bog standard to the untrained eye....guess thats just me ....if it doesnt improve hp, ride or handling...then its way down on my priority list

i may be wrong here...so dont flame me ....but i've read in some other forum that the stock r34 cooler will flow enough to make 200rwkw...so if thats ur target...its a direct bolt on and u can get one for around $220max.

looks like i wont be in time to fit the new cat and r34 cooler...but other than that the car is fine parents are here from o/seas and will be taking them to sitella's for a mid day lunch n wine testing this sunday I'll definately be there at hillary's meet point and join the cruise to murdoch ...but i'll have to detour back to south guildford on the way to whitemans
