  1. my guess is the coilovers pillowball mount that doesnt allow the spring to rotate when turning and producing a clunk clunk sound on slow turns. put stock suspension back on the front...if the sound goes away...then it's the coilovers that wasnt installed properly.
  2. mate, he's buying bf goodrich...so i dont think he's too concerned $$ wise otherwise there's heaps of other wider options in the budget tyre range. some ppl just like the stretched look, 245 is pushing it to the extremes and i dont think that many tyre shops around will know how to mount these properly.
  3. paul had like a tinted film over his previous h/lights and they bubbled up under the heat high temp clear coat may be the way to go. In fact it probably came with a protective coat from the factory which wears out over time....explains why it starts to cloud only after a couple of years.
  4. i use plastx all the time. only thing is once ur lights start to cloud u need to clean it with plastx at least once every 3-4 months otherwise it will start to oxidise again, its not a permanent fix.
  5. get her in a V35 coupe and see how she likes the drive. I might be the odd one..but of all the silvia's ...the S15 is the one I like the least. Personal favourite in that line is the S14 S2 ...looks bloody tough when dumped + flush 18" wheels. if she's into the rotaries...then the rx8 is the slightly more reliable option...but doesn't have 1/2 the grunt of the rx7 S2000's have also aged well...but do hold an image of being a ghey car...much like the subaru outback is a dikes car.
  6. on a 19*8.5 +45, I'm gonna stick my neck out and say that you will need spacers especially if you have brembo brakes, but more for the aesthetic i'm currently on 18" with 9.0 +30 fronts and they could use a 10mm spacer to sit flush (but I am running -1 camber)
  7. that's really funny coz i was waiting in line for a RBT along johnson st, Sth Guildford...an officer from the patrol car behind walks up and the following conversation happened Me in car with driver side window down and the officer peers through and looks at the passenger side window Officer: excuse me, can I get you to wind your passenger side window up please Me: Officer, it is up?? Officer: <wide eyed> ...ok....you've got legal tint I drove off happy....but had a .02 reading.
  8. very interesting post. are they any reliability issues with cutting off the outer set of sprockets on the drive shaft?
  9. nice car.....shame about the chrome boot lip...bit tacky
  10. didn't even say which state he's in... i vote mods to lock this thread.
  11. do u have a manual or an auto trans?? it's strange coz i've got average tyres..but in the wet I only loose traction if going 3/4 to wot peddal off the lights...which in any case shouldn't be done anyway. occasionally it does break traction if rain spreads oil on roads or on turnings where the road is awkardly cambered/uneven
  12. before insulting you with an offer you might consider ridiculous....how much were u really after for the S/C kit???
  13. yea, i should have my old amber ones in my shed as well, if Paul doesn't find his ...hit me on pm and I'll try find them for u.
  14. yea i bought a battery charger for about $70 at repco that u can leave plugged to the battery as it automatically shuts off on full charge.
  15. was jus takin the piss at ya but in all seriousness, had a mate drag running his mitsu mirage that had a pvc storm pipe elbow stick out of a cut out portion on his bumper to funnel cold air to the open pod filter ...looked ugly as but did the trick
  16. bang 4 ur buck would be upgraded sway bars first.
  17. this goes down the invention list along side solar powered flashlights
  18. king springs come in low and superlow, I think the standard low is 1inch front and 3/4inch rear and the superlow goes 2inch front and 1 1/2 rears <<guesstimate only
  19. are you referring to just the standard replacement disks made by brembo (for normal caliper)?? If so, you can get them from the US and it's still cheaper after postage. Don't know if there's significant improvement over stock rotors.
  20. Steve, don't go back to the idiots that installed it wrong because 1. they had no clue what they were doing in the 1st place 2. they may get aggro that it'll have to be done under warranty and do a 1/2 @ss job at it take it to a good suspension shop ....i've used malaga suspension and wilkinshaw suspension at Bayswater before and they are pretty good. the rear suspension setup on the v35 is similar to the bmw 3 series so I think they can sort you out. incorrectly installed suspension can be dangerous mate so take it easy till u get it fixed gl mate
  21. i hear u mate...and wish u all d best in the court case. btw how'd ur car go at the pits? maybe if it clears that, then u have a stronger case in court
  22. i guess end of the day the cops have a duty which entrust them with making a judgement call and in all fairness theres been no reported cases of them abusing the hoon laws i have been in a couple of cruises and seen (or done <<not admitting to anything ) a lot of members exceed the speed limit ...but the minute a ticket is issued we scream injustice. give d coppers a break...they are trying to make it safer for all of us
  23. hey Richard, I guess it can be argued that accidents can be caused even if well in the speed limit. I've noticed numerous occasions where cars and utes fishtail it when taking bends at lights even if they were within speed limits. and because its such a grey area...accessive acceleration or hooning laws have been broaden to cover all aspects.
  24. thats interesting burnh ....didnt realise the 250gt was actually just a 4 speed...that would explain the fuel consumption. also i do agree that ppl buy cars with fuel consumption being a deciding factor....i'm still kicking myself for buying the missus a holden craptiva but u got to compare apples with apples....so the 350gt consumption is in line with a holden commodore or ford with the same capacity.
  25. what a bummer ...hope u reported the stupid tw4t
