  1. Like the police uniform of the BMW club?
  2. Who am I going to follow from the Northern beaches? Let me know where you want me and what time and i'll be there with white cane in hand. A friend has my street directory and i'm blind without it. Maybe a burger King meet if that is easiest. Mark
  3. I was able to get my HU out without any trouble at all. I tried the other day to get it back in but with the metal mount things I can't see how its possible to get it back in through the dash. I'm going to the track day tommorow so if no one can help me before then i'll take my screw driver along and ask someone to help me. (its a double din japanese pioneer). Thanks for any help. Mark
  4. I'll be up for it this Sunday if I get the details before then. I guess I can meet you (bigvis) in forestville. Firstly I need to figure out how to put my headunit back in because its swimming in the hole in the dash without the metal mounts. It doesn't seem possible to get the HU back in with the mounts attached - God only knows how I removed it in the first place. :bonk: Mark
  5. Are we able to have a sneak preview of the choices of stickers available before the 19th? I've never been to a track day but am keen to come along and watch. Is it safe to park my car there and does it cost to watch? Mark
  6. Hi Y0880, Since the last photo was useful I edited one of the ones I took of the rear seat with parcel shelf removed . You will notice there is yellow where the teeth Akeenan mentioned are - from memory it looks like a tiny single fin from a surf board. This goes into the parcel shelf where I have circled with yellow - if you look hard you'll notice that the slot on mine has been ripped. The two red circles are where the two white clip type things are. After removing the back seat I got my fingers under the parcel shelf near the middle and pulled it up which worked... maybe there is a better way? good luck with it, hope it helps you and other people. Mark
  7. I'm interested. Can I follow you Bigvis? Mark
  8. I've got some pics I took when I took out my parcel shelf in my gtst - same as a gtr? I got cranky trying to get the parcel shelf out and snaped both ends. There are 2 white clips you can see in the above photo that you need to deal with to remove the shelf. Be careful on each edge of the parcel shelf (I think you have to push down at the edges to do it properly - I just pulled and ripped it out). Mark
  9. I made some rear speaker mounts out of MDF using a old hacksaw blade to cut the shape and I used a self taping screw to make my holes. A picture of what I did is here: MDF speaker mount I made and underneath view (inside boot) . Let me know if you see any faults or if I could have done it slightly better. I'm ready for the boot where I want to mount my amp on a 10mm piece of MDF. I've also got a 10" soundstream sub a ordinary looking box. All speaker wireing looks like it runs down the driver side of the car and the battery in a skyline is in the boot on the passenger side. Where would be the best place to mount the amp? close to the battery on the passenger side or close to where the wiring is on the driver side? I want the install to look good. Should I attempt flush mounting the amp and doing so will that create overheating problems? To give an idea this is my boot my boot with the spare tyre etc. removed. I want the tyre etc. to retain the standard look, i'm thinking of making a back wall out of the MDF behind the metal bar in the boot... is this the way to go? Thanks for the help again. Mark
  10. I'm out, I have to work as well. Mark
  11. Thats what I was thinking but I don't know much about cars. Should it be making that noise or is it a sign that it's on its way out? Mark
  12. I dont think it has anything to do with the speakers because the noise isn't coming out of any speaker. The noise is there when the headunit is off. All i've done to the rear speakers is take one of them out. Knowing nothing about cars, could it be anything to do with fuel since is only occurs when I put my foot down on the accelerator. I've had whines cause by car stereo before in my old car and i'm quite positive the speakers have nothing to do with it. The whine through the speakers came through the speakers and its intensity was dictated by how much I reved the engine. This noise doesn't fluctuate, it has a constant pitch and sound level. any ideas? Mark
  13. I'll come if I can get the day off work. Anyone on the northern beaches want to lead me down to the gong again? I might follow bigvis down there unless it turns out the blind is leading the blind (not unlike following MRTRBO on the last gong trip Another burger King or whatever meet? Mark
  14. exams went well and you driving again legaly?
  15. I was fiddling around taking out the stock speakers today and have left no driver side rear speaker but still have the passenger side one in. Tonight when the speakers + back seat + pacel shelf were out, every time I touched the accelerator I could hear a whine noise not unlike that which happens in some car stereo systems. The noise continued for ~3 secs after I take my foot off the accelerator and starts again as soon as my foot touches it again. I haven't noticed this before so have I screwed up taking the stock stereo gear out, or maybe its because nothing is muffling the sound now? The sound seems to be coming from the driver side rear near where the removed speaker was. I haven't had a good listen because i'm dead tired after being draged to Harry Potter tonight... it moves as slow as a wet week. Mark
  16. A car audio friend told me to get 3mm for the doors and 10mm for the boot - which I did. I tried replacing the rear speakers first and that took me way too long so I haven't got around to the front ones. At least i've taken the door trim off before unlike parcel shelf. Mark
  17. I must admit, I stuffed up the original parcel shelf while giving it a yank. Both left and right extremes where it looks like there was a slot cut in the board are no long. They have now been destroyed. How can I make a new one without any tools or money? Might have an old rust hacksaw blade though... Mark
  18. Xrsist, your reply came too late. I gave up on being delicate and gave it a yank which solved my problem. My next problem is that my new 6" speakers dont conform to the factory mounts. I might be able to get away with using 3 screws with the factory mount. Will this be ok or will I have to make a custom mount for it? I wonder if I can make a custom mount with a pair of sissors or knife because I dont have a saw. Mark
  19. I've got the back seats out of my R33 but I can't figure out how to get the parcel shelf out. From the boot I can see two large white clip things (the ones if you squeeze them they SHOULD fit through a hole). I also see some smaller grey ones. There are two bolts i guess holding the rear speakers as well. What method should I use to replace my factory rear speakers? I'm damned if I can make any progress on those white clips. It seems you need the fingers of a pigme to get at anything in the boot. Help needed. Mark
  20. I've got an R33 which still has the stock speakers which I want to replace with my old sony xplode splits. (in the front door) The sonys dont fit where the stock speakers are so I'll have to remove that plastic housing thing. After the stock speaker + housing is removed, how should I secure my sonys in the front door? Should I got down to the local hardware store and buy some MDF, cut a hole in it for the speaker, then using ?something? secure the MDF to the door. I've got no idea, i'm no good when it comes to practical things. suggestions, pics, etc. welcome. Thanks, Mark
  21. Thanks Knat for your compliment of my car. Unfortunately all I've done to it cosmeticaly is to replace the side indicators with the clear nismo ones and added a chrome cup to the boost guage. The previous owner did the rest. Once uni exams are complete i'll get the car tinted for both looks and sun protection - I turned completely red on the cruise to the gong (and so I hear did Brendan). s2 eyelids might be another addition as a prototype is being molded from my car. Mark
  22. Did it work? Mark
  23. What can you use to get out small scratches in a double din head unit to make it look like new again? Mark
  24. I'm being very picky, 'there' in "...-REAL- Skylines and there owners" is the wrong useage. There are some nice pics of Nicks car floating around these forums - from the car show, and the gong cruise on the 27th. Maybe ask him for some pics? Mark
  25. I've just emailed 6 pics of mine off to you benm. Timmy G - these are some of the pics I was talking about, I decided to reduce them in size and put them up. You can always come and take a look at my car if you are wanting a silver s2... take it for a spin. North Shore Prestige is in Manly isn't it? I went there and they tried to sell me a soarer.
