they brace the BMC against the strut tower directly in front of it. as a result, the firewall doesnt flex when you stomp on the brakes (which it does quite a bit as standard). less flex = a less spongy pedal, and better brake feel because the energy in your foot goes through the brake system rather than be used in bending firewall -

the actual wheel diameter can change up to 18/19 etc, we are talking about the wheel and tyre combined. the TOTAL diameter of tyre monuted on wheel has to be the same for your speedo to be right -
you wont have to save as hard for the whole lot at once as well
