  1. Pretty sure the car would run on a highflowed turbo but it wouldn't be running very happily. You would need at least a piggy back unit like a Safc to try alter the fuel map to correct for the extra airflow. Even just a highflow is going to be freaking out a stock ECU quite a bit.
  2. YAY I fixed it. I connected a spare injector to an external power source and noticed they make a clicking noise. When that same injector was running off the loom plug, I noticed no such noise. I cut the plug off, did a quick bodgy wiring job, started the car and bam, 6 cylinder goodness! So it was the loom plug. Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions. I will now go and tidy the wiring up so its not dodgy (where did I put my gaffa tape....) I am so glad I have FINALLY worked out this damn problem.
  3. It wasn't a problem that just appeared one day. It came gradually over several months. It would be fine 95% of the time then sometimes be on 5 cylinders for no reason. Then over the months that got worse and worse until its 5 100% of the time. I have tried swapping plugs yes, its not a spark problem. One idea I had was that it might be the plug going to the injector. I tried connecting the plug to a spare injector while the engine was running to see if the spare injector did anything. It did not. Now thats either because there is indeed no signal getting through, or (what I suspect) it would be impossible to tell if it was doing anything just by holding it while its plugged in.
  4. Ok guys I am officially stumped. I have had my car off the road for awhile now, trying to DIY fix a problem with it. Its only firing 5 cylinders, the front cylinder (#1? Or is that #6?) doesn't do anything. I have tried new spark plugs. I have checked to see if there is spark (there is) I have tried spare fuel injectors. I have done a compression test and found all 6 cylinders to be consistant. When starting the car and revving it a little you SOMETIMES get a couple seconds of 6 cylinder goodness then its back to 5. I just don't know what the go is. At this point I am thinking about just giving up and taking it to a mechanic, but I would like to be able to fix it myself as it's the only way I will learn
  5. Hey guys, One of my injectors is stuffed. If anyone has just upgraded their injectors and has their stockies lying around, I need one! PM me if your interested, I have tried a couple of wreckers but they have not been too helpfull.
  6. Car overheating? No Oil in your coolant? No Coolant in your oil? No Perhaps its rebuild time....... So much for selling the car lol
  7. Ok...so all being consistant but low would be what? Head gasket? Would it explain why 1 cylinder wouldn't work but the other 5 would?
  8. Hmmm, that is a little troubling if it does apply to the RB25. Not sure if that would cause a dropped cylinder but?
  9. Hey guys. So my front cylinder is not doing anything. It started out months ago, driving along it would occasionaly drop out and I would be on 5 cylinders breifly. Over the next few months it became more and more freequent until now its never working and I have only a 5 cylinder car. I have tried a new coil pack, I have tried a new spark plug. Yesterday I did a compression test on all 6 cylinders and got fairly consistant results across all 6. It was between 115psi and 125psi across all cylinders. Seems a tad low to me but the fact that cylinder one is not any different tells me it should still be working. My idea is that it could be the coil loom itself (trying to get hold of a spare) or the injector perhaps? Anyone care to offer suggestions as to what else it could be? 5 Cylinders means the car runs horribly slow
  10. Yes. I was unaware the 1.5's used the 2's engine. Lesson learned I guess. You click on the S2 coils on the Justjap website and it says "Engine Compatibility: - Nissan R33 RB25DET (1/95-5/98) Which I would have seen, except that I didn't even bother clicking on the S2 coils as I dismissed them thinking I needed S1
  11. As far as I know its the stock motor. Doesn't matter too much how it got in there I guess, at least now I know I need S2 coils.
  12. "Series one coil packs have 4 little bolts holding them to the bracket, Series 2 only have 3" Gah. My old coils have 3 bolts, the new ones have 4. Sigh. My car IS a series 1 though. What did nissan do, just throw random S2 bits onto the 95's for the hell of it? Gonna have to call Justjap tomorrow i guess and try get the S2's sent out. Screw putting the car back together, Ill just have to take the bike tomorrow. Thanks for your help guys. I feared they had sent me Series 2 coils by mistake, in the end it turns out I NEEDED series 2. Bloody Nissan.
  13. Hey, thanks for the quick reply. My car is a 1995 and is listed as a series 1 so I just bought series 1 coils. My car may be a series 1.5, I was unaware they had Series 2 coils? I just looked at them further, the earth and positive are reversed so they are definetly the wrong coils for my car. The receipt from justjap says series 1. If my car indeed does require S2 coils, being a late 1995 series 1 (and thus possibly a 1.5) then the mistake is mine for assuming I needed series 1 coils.
  14. Hi Guys, I have been having problems with my stock coils for ages so I finally bouught some JJR coils from justjap for a series 1 R33 GTS-T Pulled this old coils out this arvo after some dramas with stripped screws and other such un-fun doings, put the new coils in the brackets and went to put them back in only to find my wiring loom won't connect up. Comparing a new coil to an older one, the design seems ever so SLIGHTLY different. Different enough though to have halted my progress and frustrate me to no end. I am wondering if A: The coils actually require a new, matching loom (Justjap website said direct replacement though) or B: They accidently sent me Series 2 coils. I don't know how different S2 coils are to S1 coils. Any suggestions? Its too late to call them now and ask and I was kinda needing the car tomorrow for work. I really do NOT want to have gone to all this trouble just to have to put the old coils back in
  15. I did wonder if it could have been related to heaps of car related deaths yesterday and the day before, maybe it was a bad time to be a P plater and on the road. We all have crap days at work but that still doesn't give you an excuse to take it out on the next young bloke you see. I just noticed earlier my phone has a voice record function. From now on I will be using that if I get pulled over. Maybe the knowledge of them being recorded might ensure they remain above board and professional in their conduct.
  16. Im sorry mate but I think your going to loose to that fantastic 'Ferrari 911' I mean that thing just looks stunning, a true masterpiece. Here I was thinking Porsche did the best 911's, but then I find out Ferrari themselvs made a 911. On a serious note: WTF at the Ferrari 911.
  17. Just a correction on the original post. The Ferrar F1 style paddle shift you mentioned is not Dual clutch transmission. I believe only the new California has DCT, a 7 speed one at that. The F1 in all the ferrari's to date have just been evoloutions of the system first introduced in the 355. Its a Sequential gearbox with an automatic clutch. Not a dual clutch transmission like you see in alot of new cars. Infact, the Gran Sport you drove was not DCT either as that uses the same system borrowed from Ferrari. Lamborghini don't yet use DCT either. I believe the Ferrari/Masser/Lambo system is simply a sequential gearbox with a hydraulic computer controller clutch. They are impressive none the less, but DCT allows for quicker shift times than Ferrari could squeeze out of their system. I think the new California is meant to have quicker shifts than even a new Scuderia, simply owering to the use of DCT.
  18. I know he was just a jerk or having a bad night or whatever, ever other cop I have dealt with has been far nicer. But can anyone answer my questions regarding whether they are legally required to record the convo and inform you of the purpose for being pulled over etc?
  19. Hey guys, As the title implies, I was stopped by a police officer last night and it wasn't a very pleasant experience to say the least. I have a few questions regarding what the correct procedure is for cops after pulling someone over, what they have to say etc. I have been driving my car for over 2 years now, almost every day. I rarely get pulled over, have been driving a total of over 3 years, never gotten a speeding fine, or wreckless driving or anything like that. The other week driving back from the coast I got pulled over by a highway patrol cop and fined for not having an engineering certificate for my exhaust and pod filter. While I believe being fined for such things is a load of money raising BS, the cop who fined me was a nice bloke and I left knowing that the bloke was just doing his job, he doesn't make the rules, just enforces them. He was nice enough to just fine and not defect so I was cool with it. Whenever I get pulled over by police (which is rare) I am always polite and so on and have always been of the idea that if you aren't a d*ckhead to the police they will treat you fairly and respectfully. Thats why after last nights run in I was, well, shocked. Here is what happened: I was driving home from penrith around 10pm, doing the speed limit, and I know everyone says this, but i was literally doing nothing wrong and minding my own buisness. Next thing the car behind me throws on the flashing lights (I wasn't even aware it was a cop) I pulled over expecting just an RBT. I get out my licence and wind the window down waiting for him to come to the door From the moment the cop spoke, I picked up that he was unhappy, the way he spoke was...well rude and demanding Cop "Wheres your licence?" Me "Here it is" *I hand it to him Cop "Where are you going?" Me "Im headed home" Cop "Oh yeah wheres that exactly?" Me "The Blue mountains" Cop "You mean #####?" (He states my town) Me "yes" Cop "Where have you been tonight?" Me "I was just out driving through penrith" (I was indeed, just out for a drive that night.) Cop "Where exactly in penrith?" Me "Well I just came past cranebrook area..." Cop "This your car?" Me "Yes" And this is where he just snapped. Aparently my nervous tone I used to say "Yes" with was mistaken for 'attitude' Cop "WHATS WITH THE ATTITUDE MATE?" At this point I was thinking well ive somehow blown any chance at getting on this guys good side Me (Totally perplexed and taken by suprise) "Uhh i...what?" Cop "HOW COME WHENEVER I PULL YOU BLOKES OVER YOU ALL HAVE TO GIVE ME A BLOODY ATTITUDE" Me (Thinking WTF) "Im sorry mate... Sorry." (I wasn't, but figured apologising for the claimed attitude was my best course of action) Cop "How many points do you have left?" Me "All of them" Cop then walks around my car, comes back Cop "Do you want a $200 fine and 2 points for an obscured front P plate?" (Its been in the same spot for 2 1/2 years and NO ONE has ever questioned me on it as its...well perfectly visible) Me "Not really no" Cop then asks for an engineering certificate for my exhaust Me "I don't have one...." Cop "Yeah i know. What other modifications have you done?" Me (Thinking ok if I say none he is going to go through the engine bay regardless so I might as well confess to the pod filter) "Just a pop filter" Cop "Do you have an engineering certificate for that?" Me "no" Cop "What do you do for a job?" Me (thinking WTF kind of question is that?) "I am in IT. Comptuers" Cop "So how would you like to loose hundreds of dollars tonight? I could get out the book on this car and have you sent to pits for a dozen defects" (Just for the record, my car is on stock rims, is not lowered, has an exhaust, pod filter and a front mount which has never been seen cause its so damn stealth) Me "well i wouldn't obviously" Cop "Lets start again shall we? Count to 10" He holds up the breatheliser thingy I passed, obviously Cop then changes somewhat Cop "Well your lucky I have better things to do tonight and don't feel like the paper work, heres your licence now go home" Me "....thanks" Now look, in the end I didn't get a fine so overall I wil just chalk this down to a pissed off cop and get over it. But I have a few questions: 1: When they first come to your window, aren't they meant to say "This is being recorded and the reason I have pulled you over is the following" This guy did none of that, yet every cop that has stopped me before has done so. 2: When they start asking you where you are going, where you have been, EXACTLY where you have been etc, are you allowed to just say "Thats none of your buisnesss" ? I know thats never going to win them over but I kenw from the start this guy had a rod up his ass and I really did feel like his questioning was...well, none of his damn concern. 3: From reading my account, can anyone think of something I could have said to the guy to let him know i thought ha was being an ass, without further infuriating him? Like "I don't apreciate being spoken to in that manner" or something? 4: Is it possible that my car has been 'flagged' or something? Like maybe when he was behind me he ran my plate and something came up that caused him to pull me over and assume I was going to give him an attitude? I see now why some people carry a tape recorder in their car, I WISH i had had one because the cops attitude compared to my answers to his questions was just so un warrented it left me speechless. I have never dealt with a cop like that before, in the past I have always found them polite and professional. This guy was just an ass.
  20. Im selling my PFC, removed it last week from my R33. Worked great. Im selling it because I never got around to getting it tuned and am trying to save money rather than spend more on my car. Its listed on ebay here: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...E:IT&ih=019 Please bid!
  21. Hahaha nah mate Was just me and 2 friends hanging out admiring our cars. I know your suposed to follow police directions if they ask you to leave an area, but surely they need a decent reason before just asking people to move off from a public location when they are found to be obeying all laws?
  22. Just because some of you haven't been unfairly harrassed doesn't mean its a non issue. I happened to be parked at a lookout with a friend of mine (he had his 34 there) Both cars were off, we were just hanging out with another friend. A highway patrol car turns up and 2 coppas got out. They asked both of us to start our cars, rev them etc (to check if the exhaust is too loud) They then went through the engine bays of both cars questioning various things trying to find a defect. Eventually they concluded that the cars were fine. Instead of just leaving, they told us to leave the area. It was a public lookout with picnic tables and all, we weren't being fined or charged with anything and yet they told us to clear off. To me, that is harrassment. We were nothing but polite to them and did everything they asked, so why did we get told to leave? The cops aren't perfect no matter what some of you seem to blindly think.
  23. The front looked terrible. Fake ferrari's are so lame. It shows the person only wants a ferrari for its 'look-at-me' appeal, and not for its drivers car fun. The MR2 to F355 that was done a few years back, now that was a well done copy.
