I would recommend redline 10w40 and run it for 10-15k just change the filter every 5000 max. Works out a lot cheaper than putting cheap stuff in every 5k. This is only for street driving. On the track use the same oil just change it after racing. Not sure what you mean by Australian conditions, inside an engine is the same wherever you are.

Dunlop Direzza 03G Hard Or Medium?
ike replied to ike's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Simonster thanks for all the great tips and advice I will put it to good use. Thanks Beer Baron, My car can go a lot faster than I can drive it at this stage. So am just out to try and improve my er lack of skills... I had thought about the mediums but did not want to wear them out driving to and from the track. Going there in June but have a few runs planned in August and September also . Probably hard is best. Its the full 5K track and its gonna be a great day. -

Dunlop Direzza 03G Hard Or Medium?
ike replied to ike's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Thanks for your advice Simonster. I did not think you would run them that low initially for fear of rolling them of the rim but they have a rigid side wall I guess. What sort of camber do you run? I will get an infrared gun for sure. Thanks once again. -
Greetings I have had a scout though the threads but can't find what I am looking for. I live around 250k from Suzuka and will be going around once a month this year with some other locals from our workshop. I want to run Direzza 03G H (hard) compound rather than R compound (medium) as track is far away and want them to last a bit Questions are as I have to drive to the track and back on them (have street rims with Direzza 101's for street use.) whats the best track pressure and transit pressure for these tyres. We do 30min x 3 sessions. I was running 36-38 psi on Star specs (I only buy Dunlops best bang for my Yen) Any help most appreciated.

Try this site . http://www.icijapan.com/old_site/ICIenglish%28en%29.htm You can either sign up for E learning or buy the books. If you really want to speak street Japanese this is the way to go. It is directed at natural English speakers only. I have tried private tuition it is good but slow and expensive. The online E learning has the best interface for self learning. I have the books SUN 1,2 and 3 they explain every thing in a way you will understand and they have Cd's included also to get the pronunciation right. Pimsleur is okay if you just want to get by but it is not street Japanese and you miss so much just listening to tapes. This is designed for the English speaking western brain. You may be able to get the books second hand on amazon If you can get online everyday then the E Learning is excellent. Albeit a tad expensive I have tried learning Kanji the Japanese method ( write each kanji out over and over ) this is okay if you are a school kid starting from an early age. There are also books where you learn Kanji by relating them to a picture someone dreamed up, this style is easy to forget. I have learned Hirigana Katakana (easy) Kanji (harder) using Heisigs methods. There are no pictures just word and silly little story associations (. For an imaginative mind this is foolproof and really fast and permanent. http://kanji.koohii.com/ いつまでも頑張りますね (always do your best) Best of luck

They are a Japanese company, here is there web address http://www.jspecworks.com/ You need to be fluent in Nihongo to deal with them. But there service is the best. Good luck

I imported my car into Japan by a mob called J-Spec Probably a bit unusual you might think when I imported it to Australia in the first place ( Stock Standard grade 5) Upgraded the car, could not sell it in Australia now I use it heaps here at the local track . Best thing I ever did . To replicate this car here would cost a bundle ( more than Australia) All Japanese parts anyway apart from Motec computer.

I agree with you Peter Eddie . Dynos will measure peak power for sure but in no way accurately measure max power and torque throughout the rev range unless fully loaded from zero boost Even then its not the road and done in either 4 or 5th gear slowly building up revs. That power is aw power also not rear wheel as per most of the dyno charts on this site. I am sure you know what a good tune feels like on the road. Please excuse nismoid he can be quite arrogant, outspoken and condescending at times . GTAuto garage wins my vote everytime and they will not sacrifice your engine for the sake of a pretty dyno chart. heh heh

Hi I have been coming to Japan now for around 27 years with my job (marine engineer) My company used to get all there ships built here and I had to do commissioning etc for a few months on each ship This was a really good experience and started my fascination with Japan . Then we had them built elsewhere and the quality has gone to the dogs. One aspect of Japan is the dedication people have which unfortunately is not very abundant in Australia or many parts of the world. This along with there politeness and respect for eachother will keep me here from now on. I have been all over and can count on one hand my kinda places to live and Japan is no,1 in my book. I spend 6 months of the year now in 5 week breaks (have to work) in Toyama with my lady. I also have classes 4 times a week over here learning the lingo ,theres only 2 of us in the class and no english allowed ..good way to learn. We rent a nice house but are thinking of buying a farm house close by with a large shed for me to put our cars. A bloke has to have a shed fkn oath. I have been thinking of selling my r33 gtr and buying a new r35gtr in Japan but its a hard decision. There are many r33 's for sale over here but hardly any like mine ...sure some have more power or just good handling. I know a guy in Australia with a r33 gtr that looks unreal on the outside has a standard engine ...and a holinger seq 6 speed transmission.....go figure?? But mine is a total package . ( I liken it to a r33 ztune ha ha). I have seen a few with similar specs going for 4.5m yen . So I will do the unthinkable and return the car to its birth place. ( There are many circuits to thrash your toys over here.) my woman loves it and wants it here also. hai domo arigato gozaimasu . I must obey!. I was digressing there a bit but for me I will be happy to stay here till I kark it. heading of to Tokyo today for 4 days ...Missus has a conference so i will go exploring ganbatte hai onegai shaimasu. Anyone thinking of coming here for a holiday should do it . It can be daunting at first but once you get in the groove its well worth the experience. Just remember to silence you mobiles .. Mobile etiquette is still new in Australia .
