    Allstar Tuning

    Lucky for you mate . He is a sleazebag in my book. Any way there are quite a few other better honest tuners out there that do the right thing. Heres what he did to me 1/ Did not mention his dyno was non existent 2/ I Brought it in at 8am said it would be ready in the afternoon . 3/ Rang me in afternoon saying its not ready and needs cold cranking setup in morning so needs it overnight This is complete crap as a new out of box power FC for an r33 gtr is fine (found this out later) 4/ He was driving it to someone elses dyno gods knows where and probably driving it home everynight. (+300km odometer) 5/ Did this for 2 more days until I pulled the plug on it. 6/ Returned the car to me with original boost setting actually slightly lower. I told him to tune it @1 bar He obviously already tuned it to that and either wound it down again or saved a dat file for the simple reason I wanted the car back and he wanted it again for another night so got shitty Talk about rub your nose in it . 7/ At the time he said to bring it back to finish it off and me being a bit naive at times nodded and a day later realised he was playing me like a fiddle . 8/ The Map sensor and piping were incorrectly fitted that could have resulted in overboost. Sloppy workmanship. 9/ I am a fairly laid back person until someone fks me over and he sure did that. 10/ My car is mint (Auction grade 4.5A) very low K's 11 / Will go over entire car checking serial numbers etc against my records to see if anything has been swapped . 12/ Will never leave my sight again So mate Theres my Fkn experience with ALLSTAR TUNING So Why????????????? did I cop that. He got to drive a nice car and pick up over 600 coins in the process This isn't over. I have since found a much better tuner who did it in a few hours as I reset the PFC back to datum.

  3. Look mate I am at work (work away) no pictures at present they are the latest hardened slide pulleys with three allen head lock screws. They are for an r33 RB26DETT inlet and exhaust
  4. I do have the hks adjustables gears and yes you are probably right but it comes down to money in my case. I am not chasing every single kilowatt but wouldn,t mind seeing some comparos though Cheers
  5. How would I know there optimal position Gav But I reckon HKS would after all they made them after a lot of experimentation and research. But it would be interesting to see - how about if you pay for it . Can do without your condescending presumptuous mouth though if you read it properly I said hks's optimal position. Have you actually practiced any of the stuff you preach or is it all just stuff you have read Get a life . regards Mike

    He may a good tuner but he sure as hell is not a straight shooter . I have since had it retuned in 4 hours what he could not do in 3 days. Not a good experience played me like a fiddle.
  7. Have since canned the slide pulleys and will see how they go with the normal pulleys - Found out the dowel (knock pin) has been indexed to the optimum position so any gains will be in the tune.

  9. Hey seeyagtr When does close loop initiate when cruising ? and revert to maps when the throttle is varied or what? I am heading out into Bass strait at the moment so my signal fading. Back on Monday. cheers
  10. Have some brand new HKS adjustable slide cam pulleys still in box unopened that I no longer plan to use. Just bought some HKS cams and found out the knock pins (dowels) on them have been indexed for the optimum anyway. I want A$320 + postage My loss is your gain

  12. Hi Paulr33 No there isn't any problems at all it runs sweet he just reckons he has to do this cold cranking thing when its cold. Are you telling me that out of the box its ok. But whats the go with the AFR's they will change if I wind up the boost myself ?? Just lost confidence in this guy. Gave him 600 for what. All I wanted was to up the boost and a good safe tune for longevity Does it have to be retuned for higher boost. Yeah I read all your threads theyre good cheers Ike
  13. Just had my baby tuned by a SAU highly recommended tuner. For a start he lied to me about his dyno which wasn't working and drove somewhere else (300k's over 3 days) to use someone elses dyno. Then I demanded it back he reckons he still needs it overnight to finish it off to set up cold start cranking thingy in the morning where he says he only has a few second window to do it . This sounds a bit sus to me Could someone enlighten me on what this means or is he just taking me for a ride. He also installed my PFC + HC and boost control kit which was sloppy ie boost line draped over hot plenum and the MAP sensor was at a 45deg angle ,the book says it must be vertical or risk overboost.. Was going to install myself but couldn,t trace the lines to actuators under plenum and I thought, f’k the expense he may as well install as well and then tune it . Needless to say it will not return to his F'kn workshop. If I knew his rolling road was f'kd I would not have gone there . Think he just used it for a daily driver to impress his mates. He handed it over with 8psi boost ( normal is 9psi I think on an r33 gtr) thinking I‘ll bring it back to get it wound up. He will have tuned it for 15psi boost and saved the dat file to upload it next time I go not Anyway I will chalk that one up to experience as we all get ripped off by experts now and again.. Have been getting in to the theory of tuning cars the modern way and using the PFC HC. I am a marine engineer and work on and repair and operate all sorts of gear ( 65000kw diesels to 2kw diesels ,refrigeration, electrics plus all the other crap on ships ) I know my diesels but am quite green with tuning on cars . The PFC threads is really good for me a great resource. Some explanation on the cold cranking set up would go down well I can easily wind up the boost to 14psi in steps and check all the parameters are safe on the monitor and trace maps but am reluctant to tamper with settings yet unless its knockin to much which it is not. . Will AFR’s change with boost ? ie I guess it will when running open loop on the maps. But when does it change from open loop to closed loop . Cannot read the Japanese manual that came with it but have been translating bits and pieces into Japlish with google translator from PDFs. Very colourful speech. Was thinking of installing a logable wide band before the catback on the collector some where rather than rely on the 2 narrowbands. Just have to be careful due to heat as they get quite hot. Have an old laptop as well so just need a dongle and datalogit software. Then I will have a go.myself because I’m sick of being taken by sly pricks who do it behind your back. Hi y'all My tuner reckons he needs my car overnight so he can set up the "cold cranking ???" on the PFC first thing in the morning when its stone cold and only a tiny window to do it in according to him. Found out he was using a dyno somewhere else but didn,t tell me his one was not working He clocked up 300k in my car and has set boost @8psi (9psi standard) because he wants it back to finish it. Not f'kn likely once bitten twice shy. He had the car for three days before I demanded it back Very sloppy pfc + boost kit install ie vac line draped across hot plenum and Map sensor at a 45 degree angle to the vertical Book warns you it must be vertical or overboost may occur. Easily fixed though. Its a really nice car I think he was using it as his daily driver A low act Anyway water under the bridge. Could someone tell me what the cold cranking set up is I can easily wind back up the boost with the hand controller and monitor knock levels Map traces etc. Have been getting right into this tuning lark thanks to all the excellent info in the threads just the theory so far until I get my head around it all . before I do it for real. So is this guy taking me for a ride or is what He comes highly recommended from my research for a good tuner on this web site. Ha Would like some input please Cheers Mike No Names

  16. Hi all Does anyone know if the sway bars on the vspec are the same spec as a normal gtr and any other differences in suspension between the 2 apart from the 10mm lower ride height. I am going to buy some Whiteline sway bars and rear sub frame alignment kit off Sydneykid. Hard to find any info. cheers Ike
  17. Thanks for the info on the cams from what else I have gleaned around the place I am going with the HKS step 1 256 IO cams with the hks slide pulleys .HKS call this cam step1 by the way . Will post dyno results soon regards Ike
  18. Hi everybody Have a stock r33 vspec with a very healthy engine. Have a full weldina NE1(titanium) exhaust system( fitted by previous Japanese owner) - PFC - KN filter Have purchased gtss turbos and was wondering which will be the best cams to fit . Some track days mainly mountain roads so I want better response. At the moment it is a toss up between hks 256/8.7 in out or hks 264/8.7 in out or 256 in 264 out . With HKS adjustable cam gears. Heard a few people say this will give a stable idle So I am sure this has all been done before by someone in SAU Would really appreciate any input from u guys in the know. all the best Ike

Unfortunately I am at work (work away) so cannot post a pic they have Bridgestone Expedias at the moment and will need new tyres. I would like $1500 for them OVNO Will be home in 3 weeks - PM me if interested Regards Ike

  21. Hello all Would anyone have simple fitting instructions for the apexi power fc optional boost solenoid and sensor in the engine bay of a g33 gtr. Have checked out all the posts but cannot find anything on the subject all help would be mucho appreciated
