people come on... leave this poor guy alone so he can peacefully go off and spend BANGN's money on buying himself something else! ***EDITED PM OP FOR THE INFO*** thats just a kick in the guts... * get someone to drop off parts to you rather than picking them up yourself * not have the money ready there for that person * say thanks for the parts but not pay * then have the nerve to ask people on the same forum to help you out buying something else!!! I was going to help this guy out getting a good deal but now after reading this I wouldn't give him SQUAT

Gazza is right with the 10% speedo calibration... they only have to make their speedos accurate within a 10% margin. You never know, you might have a speedo that is dead on but with 10% margin for error up their sleeve it's doubtfull. The lasers and multanovas do not have any margin of error. Each unit (in a perfect world) is tested with a tuning fork and calibrated. There will be actually variences due to the angle the laser is fired from (eg two lanes of traffic, cars side by side... car closer will be slightly different to the car further away)... the good thing there is that cops kow this and they will usually (as they have in this case) removed a little for angular margin of error. Unfortunately with multanova's, as they are a basically an automatic letter in the mail after a quick photo review, there isn't anyone who will down grade your speed. What this means is that you could be thinking you are doing the right thing on the freeway, putting along at 100km/h on your speedo and then get flashed actuall doing 110km/h... on a long weekend thats going to cost you $150 and 4 points thanks very much Mr Car Manufacturer. Flip side is you could be over on your speedo and actually under the speed limit... fingers crossed all of our speedos are this way inclined.

hahahaha... i have broken traction twice... both times in the wet!!! its a little hard to brake traction even with around 250Kw... the 4 wheel drive system and traction controll is just too damn good. Once the warranty runs out I will get the ecu flash tuned and get it over 300Kw... then it will squeel!!! unfortunately the warranty only runs out near the end of 09' so there wont be any more power up's until then.

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/up...59916_thumb.jpg Just a question... why go to the trouble of putting nice gauges all the way over on the other side of the dash when the only time you would read them is when you were drifting around a right hand bend, at which point i would be watching the road rather than my gauges? I can't even read the numbers without blowing up the image. I'm by no means having a dig at you for it, as I believe everyone should modify their car in what ever way makes them feel good... I just have never understood it??? I will say that I am happier to see that you didn't just get the hole saw and cut straight into the dash like some... very handy work there with the glass mate, well done.

do you think the SAUWA support n recovery vehicle would be suitable for the power cruise? by then the audio system should be complete and if you want to see the list of mods so far then visit http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.ph...age=1&pp=25

I have to agree with you... I wouldn;t want to buy something that didn;t live upto what it was portrayed to do in advertising. I actually use a BEL XR myself and the fitted version in the wifes car... both have been the best units I have used in over 10 years of selling detectors. I must admit that their main focus was never intended to be the leaders in performance as both units focus on stealth technology. Having said this, I haven't seen a different current model detector outperform them. It is possible that in some cases that old top end models might give better range in some instances, but this could be mainly due to the lack of filtering the old units have when compared to new models. With more and more electronic devices out there every year, the air waves are polluted with more and more signals that will set off radar detectors unless they have tip top filtering. Units now need to have the best filtering possible in order to keep users saine and not get total sick from false alerts. Regarding the amount of returns we have for the BEL XR... its about 2-2.5% return rate which is very acceptable in mass produced electronics. I am not saying that you have definately got a working unit and you are over reacting... you may have a fault but I wont know until I test your detector. Please send it it so that work can be carried out. Cheers Scott

I dont know where you'll get this one from or how you will get it to fit... but DANG... GET IT!

Props Mike... Big Props

No touching... where is the fun in that!?!? Well all I can say is that you kind of summed it up in the first paragraph... your old unit was a 12+y/o detector and you are trying to compare it to current technology... I mean we all sit here and compare the new GTR to the R32 and R33 of the past but do we really expect them to be all that similar? No, and that is because they are in a different ball park. Old detectors and old police radar are very different to current detectors and current police radars. There is a failure rate for every electronics device built so we do expect some units to come back faulty... this is probably the reason why the person you bought your unit off replaced the 1st unit you had. By all mean please send me your unit and I can test it out against brand new units as see how it stacks up. Neltronics PO Box 1469 Subiaco WA 6008 Please include your full name, contact details and a full fault description with the unit when you post it... I deal with all of Australia, New Zealand and Asia so I see a fair few units and without full details I will not know what to look for. Thanks Scott

WA does not use RDD (radar-detector-detector) technology as there is no law banning the use, therefore no reason to outlay in excess of $3000USD per unit. Other states do use these RDD's and are most commonly VG3 Spectre III units that can pick up everything except 2 Beltronics models. big col... you mustn't have had any experience with a good brand to say that you cant even get enough warning to slow down doing 10km/h over the limit with no traffic around??? I have had 300m+++ with traffic on multanova and have detected cop cars well out of sight (at a guess 4-5km's+++). Perhaps you are talking about detecting laser which doesn't work on the same principals as radar so it is dificult to detect even at the best of times. All I will say is to leave your opinions on "ALL" detectors until you have used "ALL" detectors... if you have had a bad experience with (as you put it) your "crappy old detector" then let us know what you were using so others have a guide to base your comments off... and if your brothers turns out to be a Beltronics (rather than a Bel-air???), and was bought locally then tell him to drop it in to me to get it checked out... I will be very keen to see any Beltronics unit that I sell only give 10m warning with no traffic.

YAY!!! 1st to congratulate Mike on arrival of his son. Congratulations to your family and look forward to the "wetting of the head"!!!

Hey Luke, Yeah... just call the office 1st to make sure I am there. Get me drunk again and we will see what I can muster up!!!

Need I say more!!! Plus the fact that a Vector LR came out around 9-10 years ago with a 1 year warranty. Pulp, what unit do you have?
-
OK.. here's the story... "LO CAL" (or "MARKERS" or "PLL LCK") is a fault code describing some kind of error has occured during a calibration test. BELTRONICS are keeping their software to themselves to avoid Chinese manufacturers from reverse engineering their products and whacking on the software... smart hey! To repair this issue we would hopefully have a replacement board here in stock... we simply open up your faulty unit... put in the refurbished board... set up the menu and bands and away you go. The faulty board is then shipped to BELTRONICS to be refurbished and reflashed with new software. The software repair is $95. In WA cops use: Multanova (not multinova!!!) which is a Ka band radar signal... low output so hard to detect Patrol cars which use a K band radar signal... strong power so easy to detect... BUT... remember not every car is equiped and if they are, they might not be turned on Sgt Plod himself uses a hand held laser signal... very strong, very fast, very accurate, VERY NARROW so damn hard to detect unless its fired right at your detector at which point they probably have you anyway. That concludes todays lesson kiddies... now you can all go home, except Ossie... come here for a touching!

I't wont be that noisey!!! There is always the stereo to drown out the drone... trust me there won't be outlandish mods happening to this thing.
-
hahahaha... yeah, but only after it gets it's kevlar armor coating and bullet prrof lexin windows... I'm going to drill holes in the sides for shooting out of just for you Dan They say 4" dump, high flow cat, big unrestrictive exhaust, injectors, typhoon airbox and cold air intake, retune... thats it... she will boogie!

Yeah it's the top notch turbo ghia so it has all the fruit Yeah I have already spoken to a performance shop in Midland that have a name for building hypo FPV's and Typhoons, etc... they say with $3.5-4k this thing will do 12sec 1/4's!!! Don't tell the wife that though!!!
-
Yeah... i will be washing it every week like the gtr used to get... plus I just spen $80 on a new wash mitt, drying towel and polishing towel... microfibre FTW! Am I ment to take that seriously... I'm worried about the wife driving it let alone anyone else! I worry about those rims like they're my 2nd child!
-
Hey people... Just picked up the new ride last night and quickly took a shite picture with the phone before the light had completely gone. It's no gtr, but at least I'm back into the turbo 4x4 arena! Maybe it can be the SAUWA S&R vehicle!!! Will post up some better quality pics after a wash and with some decent light. Pardon the height... Brad will be attending to that issue shortly.

Played both and I like the setup of RFOM better. Independant servers - no lag if a room is setup in another country Lobby setup is much better More people in RFOM, and probably more competative plus I dont have COD4! must hang to see if there are more people interested thought... 2 doesn;t really make much of a online team!

hehehehehehe yeah... lets just change topics in here anyone know what price a kilo of coleslaw is at woolworths/coles/action/farmer jacks first one with correct answers can drag an MR2!!!

for everyones sake... lets get this thread closed. the question was ... what to expect the answer is ... a big fine and demerit points at some point in time as a minimum it was on the mitchell freeway where i have never seen a set of traffic lights so it was infact a multanova (see details here) road racing is stupid and irresposible yet people still do it, and almost everyone has at some point in time. i agree with djr81 as i have aged and learnt but there are so many youngsters in these forums that are still wearing their superman suits and so are (in their minds) impervious to all things bar kryptonite... until they hit a car/tree/wall/person at speed. nothing anyone says in here will change a speeders mind not to plant the right foot... we make the decisions to drive the way we want to and so long as we are all willing to accept the good and the bad of our actions then just let things be. personally i would much rather see everyone on the track when they need a release as i would regret the day i read a new thread in here "SAUWA member ******* fatal accident" drive safe everyone p.s. CLOSE THE F**KING THREAD ALREADY!!!

Hey people. As the topic states I have thought maybe to start a SAU clan? I bought my PS3 about 2 weeks ago and it's damn addictive! I'd be up for a SAU arrange deathmatch, capture the flag or something... anyone else keen? Cheers Scott
