most insurance companies I know of, do not cover anything that happens on a circuit (drag strip or track, etc)... but if you can drive your car in a straight line though maybe it's not the place for you. it would have to be a very wild launch and gear change to slap the wall.

If it is still the same young chick from about 6 years ago... blonde??? Thats Amanda Lombardi... her family owns the place. Great girl... had a few good chats with her while driving her back and forth from the workshop... did a bit of work on her car and last time I checked, a not so good looking green old mazda astina isn't a "prestigious" car!

As Paul said I was down there for the 1st round (am session), and I can only praise Norbet from MaxAction for a well organised, enjoyable event. As MaxAuto Action is a proper CAMS event you must have a CAMS 2NS (or higher) licence (just a few forms, easy to get on the day), and also this means that all safety aspects are considered, the event runs smooth as, and you can compete against some pretty good cars & drivers. This was the 1st motokhana I had entered with the GTR, and the more I talked and watched other competitors the more I learnt about good tyre pressures, gearing, the right line to follow, etc. You don't have to have a 1000hp as I didn't even get out of 2nd gear... its more about acceleration, braking and handling of tight courses, so good tyres, suspension and breaks is more important than outright power. The morning session had about 8-10 1st timers including myself and the am session (I am told) is generally a slower group as the pm boys really turn it up. If learning different tracks is not your thing then just enter the MaxTrackAttack, I am probably heading down for the 1st session which is 11th Feb (next weekend), I have been told that there will be a large group of Porches (around 100+) will be down there after a club charity cruise so a bit of shine as well as a day of fun... hope to see some SAUWA members down there. Scotty below are some pics of the day... I have some in-car-footage as well but i am not sure how to post it... if anyone can clue me in, I will upload it.

as keets said, go to nissan and take as much infor as you can... my bro works at northside nissan and i got him to cut a brand new GTR style key for me... he looked up the key details and it told him the specifics on this handheld cutting tool. Its then an original cut not a copy of a worn key if you went to "mr mint" or similar. Ask for Adam McGuinness and tell him Scott sent you

Well as the topic suggests... It's an old school Apexi AVC-D boost controller. There are 5 knobs (bottom to top) 3000rpm, 5000rpm, 7000rpm, SPD, SCM... I am guessing that the rpm sections are for setting seperate boost levels at these rev ranges, and the SCM I think is for scramble (quick hi boost setting), but I'm buggered what SPD is for (Speed maybe but shouldn't it work off rpm?) you press the knob and it pops out so you can turn it (increase/decrease boost). Just trying to find out if anyone has got a manual (in english!!!) or knows how to use/setup one properly? Thanks Scotty p.s. sorry the pics are shite!

it good to be loved by so many!!! the nana is not brick worthy!!!

name callin hurts my feelings... calm down big guy, no need to flex your muscles around here. the car isn't for sale in here anyway otherwise it would be in the "for sale" area not in the "talkin shit" area... and judging by the thread title I don't think this thread was started in the hope of selling it in this forum... have a coke and a smile... please and for the record that dash mounted screen displays quite a few different things and the GTR's I have seen have a oil pressure gauge in the cluster, and all cars I have seen have a temp gauge also in the cluster It's not my call to make, but I would recomend to be friendly on here or don't post Dan, if this thread isn't for posting our opinions on and it is a thread for selling this car, shouldn't it be moved to the "for sale" area? I dun wanna bitch but this thread to me look likes its for posting opinions... I am sure if some one is reading this tread and is genuinely interested (and has the green to be serious)... they will contact the seller. rant over peace

From what I thought the consult was there to read data from all the different sensors and display them so that mechanics could try and diagnose problem areas. I wouldn't think a different ecu would make any difference as it basically is doing the same... reading data from the sensors... the difference is that it then outputs signals to control the engine. Wouldn't the consult just be "looking" at the sensors data and therefore not effecting what the ecu see's?
-
Hi Guys and Girls, I have been looking at interfacing the Nissan Consult software with a in-dash touchscreen... mainly to use as a gauge cluster but to also check on things for routine maintenance. With this I will be able to display quite a few gauges at once and if I was to but all these gauges and fit them... not only would it cost a fair bit, it would also clutter my dash... this is hopefully going to be a cheaper and much neater/cooler looking option. If anyone has played with/has this set up, any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Scotty

Gotta agree there... the law is the be all and end all, and don't they know it. They can be a/holes, and there is nothing worse than a rookie cop on a power trip... (moons ago I was yellowed after going over the pits only 2 weeks previous and I had not changed a thing since). I think you got it in one Shaun... it would be nice to see the age of everyone on here and I bet the biggest complaints would be coming from the younger drivers that seem to attract more attention and therefore rack up the most yellows and infringements. Nothing against young import drivers... I was one when I just got my licence, but hopefully with age most of us mature as drivers and keep the hooning to the track and our licences intact. The saying "if your doing the right thing you have nothing to worry about" reins supreme... you might not like or agree with some of the laws, but if you do the right thing, they shouldn't effect you.
-
Well shoud the penalty for murder be varied depending how expensive the gun was that used? If it's a $500 Gemini or a Ferrari Enzo... break the hoon law repeatedly and face the consiquences. I am sure you could probably do a burnout and drive on your merry way... but put this dickhead behind the wheel and he is likely to make a mess of someone or something. You can't walk into court defending yourself against the hoon law and say "well I have completed driver traing courses, and hold a CAMS licence and I was in total control of the burnout... no one was in danger your honour, oh and my cars worth more than your house"... the judge would laugh at you! The law is unbiased to what car you drive or your driving capabilities... if you use any car to do burnouts, recklessly speed, do bin runs, etc... the simple fact is you and that car don't mix well... therefore the police will seperate you from it.
-
He probably needs that much horsepower to heave all the gauges and controllers around. It's a very nice car, but I agree with popeye132... I would rather build up my GTR than buy his.
-
Well on planet Earth it's common sense for the government to take someones car if they are going to repeatedly break the hoon law... and while they are at it, send them to the lock-up for some time to reflect. The "trying to run over a police officer" is a seperate matter that doesn't fall into the hoon law, so it should be delt with seperately with it's own penalties... I am sure this will be the case. It coincidently is common sense on planet Earth that if you try and run over a cop and you get away, you will be found later, which he was! Both incidences are serious matters, the paper has obviously chosen to focus on one of them (perhaps the one that is being delt with by the courts first?). It looks like the hoon law incident has been delt with... who knows, the guy might have another court date already set regarding the police officer business??? just my 2c any way I have to jump in my shuttle back to planet no-common-sense, where there are no hoon laws and running down cops in gemini's is our national sport
-
This is a great win for common sense... to get your car taken away for "hoonin", you have to be doing sumfin more than a few km's over the speed limit... and to do that 3 times within 5 years, you have got to be asking for it! This guy should have his car, keys and prison man love virginity taken ASAP.

do you know what width and offset? pics would help too

I got my N1 lights off ebay... maybe try there? its a bit risky cos you cant touchy feel before you buy, but just ask for lots of pics and should be sweet. My bro works at nissan too and I remember asking him about some series2 R33 headlights years back for a mate... twas very expensive then as there weren't a lot of series2's in Australia, but there should be tonnes now... biy more searching and you are sure to find some.

Hi all, I need help finding a specific type of oil catch can... I have a R32 GTR and I have seen many R32's with one between the battery and radiator support (just visible in the below picture). It might be a custom made can, but the ones I have seen all looked the same. Any help would be appreciated or if anyone knows of someone who could fabricate a sweet looking alloy can to fit this area. Thanks Scotty

I am using TORQUE INSURANCE who operate through a company called Lumley Insurance... insured my 93 R32 GTR for $26000 and only paying $1050 per year... I am 27 so I am over the 25 cut off that most insurance companies have but I lost my licence 3 times when I was a lot younger so I think this is a great price.

Living With An R32 Gt-r
GODTHRILA replied to bigkevracer's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I drive mine every day and I would rate them just the same as any V8 owner driving a HSV/FPV... they chew fuel if you drive hard, wide tyres cost $$$, loud exhausts attract attention.... you just have to not only have the money to buy it... but have the money to maintain it. Any high performance car (standard or modified) will require regular maintanace, so look for a good basis (let's face it they are old now and you'll struggle to find a perfect example), look for things before they become problems, and drive it with respect. Easy huh!!!??? Get the GTR, its a car you wont regret owning if you follow the above! -
Why not just take it to a storage place? My work uses a storage area in subiaco with a lockable garage door (easily enough room to fit a car) and I dont thinnk it is all that expensive. We keep 40-50k worth of stock there so a 30k car shouldn;t be an issue??? There is a storage place in Joondalup near Toys R Us, one just near the Hutton St exit on the mitchell fwy... pleanty of these places around.
