Hey guys.. found out finally I smashed the piston rings and put 3 massive scratches into number 5 cyclinder on my r33..just wondering is it worthwhile getting the thing bored out and re-sleeved or just rebuilding the whole lot.. the other cyclinders look fine... also if anyone knows of a good place to get the work done (i've pulled the engine a part already) and an approximate price that would be awesome...

As far as FORD and Holdens go my vote is APS or even DYNOMOTIVE..I know the owners of Dynomotive personally and they know their shit when it comes to Ford's and Holdens (see Tim who works there's EF Falcon XR6T).. APS are good too.. I know for a fact the owner of that buys one of every high perfomance car that comes in order and use as a prototype for mods (within reason of course).. Ive seen a xr6t, a wrx sti, a lancer evo 6 and 7, a dodge viper, couple of holden utes and a few skylines in the owners garage (he owns a massive two storey joint and the first story is just a garage lol) I also know Nizpro do good work they tuned my dads mates xr6t it was like 390kw atw or some crazy shit.. with full exhaust, fmic, bigger injectors, some sort of ecu (forget the name), bigger fuel pump and the whole rear end rebuilt so it had decent traction lol..i remember my old man telling me the car was a family car and had a hi-low boost setting that was passworded on it so when the guys wife drove it she couldnt hoon lol...

My ex-s brother has XFCTOR was on his car way before that dumb show came out..but got offered a few thousand dollars by the shows producers for them he of course said no

why wasnt he travelling at the same speed as the traffic infront of him.??? Probably would have meant he could stop in plenty of time..I hope the guys alright.. but maybe it'll teach him some common sense travelling too close or travelling at a speed which will not enable you to stop in time to avoid an accident is your fault and not matter how he drove to avoid traffic its his fault.. still i hope he is alright.. but it might all remind us not to be in such a hurry all the time..

there is an exception I got in trouble because of it.. kinda cut a guy off to avoid another accident.. was plenty of room to merge infront of him but cause he was travelling faster than I was and failed to brake (was talking on his mobile but I couldnt prove it) he hit me in the ass.. but I was at fault..

Just a note the JCI have gone to monthly payments now also.. I just like JCI as they would cover all my mods where as shannons would not.. it also stated in the fine print of shannons that any car have modifications deaming it unroadworthy e.g bigger wheels, and stuff would not be paid out on..JCI when I called them said knowingly unroadworthy items such as bald tyres faulty brakes etc would not be paid out on however say having an 18" rims on a car that usually has a 16 would be paid out.. to full comp ym r33 gtst with a 3k stereo and another 2k worth of mods is costing me $1067 with rating protection.. Excess is a big costly thing around 4k

funny you mention seven letter vicroads will be introducing them at the end of this year unfotuntely you are not able to prebook plates which is annoyin.. so until then Ill just have to stick with my 6 letter ones I just brought.. f*kEYD.. and yes vicroads allowed me to get them

eh and got the compression test shit here so will do one tomoz for confirmation a head gasket doesnt worry me as much as engine damage.. im going to europe for 2motnhs shortly and my bro is a mechanic so he ca do his work while I'm away

Update: Looks like a gasket, between cylinder 4 and 5...umm water coming out the exhaust, umm cylinders missing.. and when you rev it coolant comes out the radiator cap rather than runs away from it.. if that makes sense..

Definately nothing in cyclinder 5 and we swapped everything between the two cars.. igntion module, loom, coilpack the lot..I pulled the plugs and plug number 5 had a build up of what looked like oil on it (keeping in mind brand new plugs were fitted yesterday) I also noticed when shining a torch through the plug hole a build up of black sludgy gunk on the top of the head (or whatever ya wanna refer to it as) in both cylinder 4 and 5.. the rest were absolutely clean (i could see bare metal)

Alright I think i've discovered the problem.. I replaced the whole ignition system with that of my mates r33 so I knwo it works fine.. I then proceeded to unplug each coilpack lead one at a time.. as expected the idle changed slightly.. however when I got to the 5th cylinder and unplugged in no change.. im guess this means a problem in cylinder 5..and according to the above problems I'm think maybe a bent valve or valve spring etc.. does that sound possible??

okay so if I do a copmpression test that should show the cylinder dead yeas.. I shall get on that now..funnily enough under load it does sound like popping or fating as you call it.. just the car doesnt idle right and basically under load blows a shit load of white smoke out the exhaust which my mechanic says is definately unburnt fuel.. he just gave me a few home tests to do before I hand it to him to have the engine pulled apart.. so yeah..

Its do everything under the sun see my previous post about oil in cooler pipes.. basically misfiring, idling very strangely, and blowing smoke out the back which smells like unburnt fuel..

hey guys just wondering whats the best way to check if my coil packs are faulty on an r33..i remember seeing a how to a while back but can't seem to find it...

Update: Mechanic reckons is runnign on 5 maybe 4 cylinders.. he told me to check plugs (i've replaced them), check the fuel return to the furl tank as in might have been blocked and flooding the engine (which I've done runs fine), then he said ignition module (swapped this with my mates made no difference) next up is coil packs, and if not those maybe a blown gasket between the cylinders.. any other suggestions..
