  1. Sadly SAU Members please take this as a note to be extremely careful if dealing with this member (twinturbzgtt - aka Shane Peter Allen). Received bank transfer in good faith (20 January 2014) for goods never received. Gone to ground. Now in the hands of the police(FWIW -lol) Hope the karma gods return what you deserve.
  2. Sadly it is likely a bit too late for that. Money cleared to his account over 10 days ago. I can only hope he has just been away or similar and will come good. Sadly parts/money that was for my mega build and money isnt so easy to come buy you can just burn it away. I guess for others until proven otherwise treat this SAU member with caution.
  3. Awesome! A heads up would likely have saved me some money. Fair price for what I was chasing, money deposited and now he seems to have gone to ground. Shame as nearly all the trades I have done on SAU have been excellent. Lets hope "Shane" fronts soon and sends out the items he has sold.
  4. Yup - you are not alone there. I hope away at work or similar. Anyone got any info on our man?
  5. What type of harness bar? Any pics? Cheers
  6. $4-6k for a head gasket replacement. Get more quotes.
  7. Ran a base line with original tune first Driving - Not well. Dyno sheet only proved what you could feel from behind the wheel. Lost a lot of mid range - went from a fat convex curve to a hollow curve all through the mid range. I was expecting the sort of numbers you are chasing and ended up well short - and it drives like it. There were some boost control issues with the EBC but a manual T should still hold up. Again it could have been a bad day....? So disappointed I am retiring that setup and spending $$$ on a new engine package and EMS. If this doesn't deliver I give up. This time the tune and set up is being done on an engine dyno for pump and blended fuel. GL
  8. I wish you luck. I have/had similar set up and to say the tune from said was disappointing is an understatement. 6 psi more boost, same max hp and torque and massive loss of mid-range over original tune. Maybe just a bad day. Keen to hear how you go. GL
  9. Aaanndd - details, pics.
  10. Price on 4 off 265x35x18 595 shipped to 6230 WA. Cheers
  11. Dan - R33 GTR was a decision i made a long time ago (prior to the R35 coming out). I could have brought pretty well anything the safe side of 100k back then and looked at R32/33/34 GTR, BMW M3, HSV, FPV, Evo's, even an AMG Merc. A friend took me for a ride in his R33 GTR (+500rwhp) and I was sold on a GTR. I personally like the R33 shape as i think it will age well and it was more roomy than a R32 (I'm a reasonably big guy) and it was a fair bit cheaper than a good R34 at the time, leaving room for mods I knew I would make. Hence R33 GTR it was. My biggest regret with the 33 was declining an opportunity to buy a low km 400R because i had already sunk money into my car and it was already faster than a 400R. Hindsight - damn silly decision. As for a R34 GTT, not my cup of tea. I can appreciate the appeal as for what they are they are far better than the local product even if they a re nearly 10 years older. Bang for buck and a compromise - why not. I am lucky to be in the position of having several cars so I can keep the fun to the GTR and daily duties to something more mundane. Need to put a smile on my face - go home, change cars. GL with the decision.
  12. Not really. Being AWD means you drive them differently to get the best out of them. The GTR being a RWD biased car has to be driven differently to say a Rex or Evo. Ditto for a FT FWD or RWD. Different challenges and driving styles for each and for each car individually for that matter. I have found out the hard way that they have their limits (albit relatively high) and it gets pretty exciting when you fall over the edge at a speed much greater than you would most likley have been in a RWD car. That's the fun of it. Getting the most out of the car you have for the budget you are willing to spend. IMHO a RB26 based GTR is a car that takes a fair bit of work to get the best out of them on the track. They are heavy for a track car, F/R weight is not ideal and they are relatively complex. But we all know it can be achieved and their racing record proves it. A bit of knowhow and quite a few $ can go a long way. The R35 is a car I have very little experience with. All i can say is they go like stink out of the box and for what you get for the $ is outstanding. If someone gave me one I would be a very happy camper. In the meantime i will have to stick with the 33 and see where that can get as a compromise street/occassional track warrior. Hell, I have even fitted cruise to reduce the speeding fine risk. If I was going all out track car I am not sure what I'd play with - lots of choices with lots of pros and cons.
  13. Huh?? Never actually driven one but couldn't think of a more boring car to take to the track. Please! Zehffro: FWIW I have S3 R33 GTR and would not consider it for a daily unless I had easy (wide) parking at work. I am a sook and the thought of car park damage on the soft ali panels and door scrapes are too much for me. The doors are long and need to open wide to get out of non-standard deep buckets, the car is a bitch to see out of in heavy traffic and in my case the car is too low for comfort (legal, but only just) so curbs and ramps in/out of some spots need to be carefully managed or the deep S3 lip takes a beating and they are exxy to replace. But on the upside they are a lot of fun to drive if you can ignore the the things I mentioned but expect attention from Falcadoor wannabes (all the time) and the Po (if you get silly). The other plus is when you can get to the track you will start to understand why they are so well regarded as a great production performance car.
  14. Brad - Got pics? Cheers
  15. Akis Your inbox is full. Interested - any idea of pump flow rate or do you ahve part number so I can chase up spec. Cheers
  16. Have a SS NE1 on my GTR (modified R34 - couldn't source a good one for R33). Twin 60mm from turbos back, twin cats to 80mm (?) to rear muffler. Very quiet compared to my Kaki Full Mega but that was rediculous. Nice note but I suspect it does take a bit of sting out of the tune.
  17. W2A is a good option for a whole lot of reasons but you still need a decent radiator, thermo fan, good quality water pump and a good core. I have installed a W2A system on a turbo diesel patrol and it is miles ahead of the pissy little A2A system in almost every way except complexity. And it is not that cheap by the time you buy decent silicon joiners for the air side and a good pump and radiator for the wet side (recommend a Bosch Cobra pump)and custom fab everything. Whatever you do don't let any of the eBay style merchants convince you that a little oil cooler sized radiator will work efficiently (unless you have a huge storage thank somewhere for additional water to act as a bigger soak). Looked into a similar setup on a GTR and it just didn't stack up over A2A.
  18. FAIL!! As a for sale thread this is dismal
  19. Guys Lots of talk but still no legislation enacted so detectors afaik so still ok to use in WA for now. Laser jammers still not tested in court so use at your own risk. (The legislation that makes radar jammers illegal - telecomunication act doesn't cover laser as it is not a radio device, but obstructing police in their duties may be used but not tested afaik). Had a XTR and Pro78 traded in on a local designed Vengeance. Couldn't/can't rely on any of them on multanova or similar low power radars. One time reasonable notice then the next you had nearly driven over one before they alarmed (ie gone if you were speeding). There is a really interesting unit (stinger) that has great reports but the price is breathtaking. Cheers
