I suggest you go back and calmly read what was posted and remember I am trying to keep it simple. When at fixed rpm (ie fixed volumetric displacement) and regulated intake pressure (12 psi as was used) the volume of charge delivered to the engine is fixed. That charge can come from one, two or 10 turbos on the proviso a single one meets the corrected air flow and pressure ratio required and can be spun up by the exhaust gases to reach 12 psi and same for two/2 or three/3 or 10/10. Just to make sure there was no probable likelihood of one std gtr turbo making 260kw I dragged out the compressor maps and it is indeed extremely unlikely and certainly not at 12psi. So you were right there but no-one was disagreeing on that and that is not what the topic is about. As for larger turbos they do indeed deliver a larger mass flow. But the engine still has to be able to consume the air mass so that needs to be achieved by tuning - timing, fuel, air, boost, temperature, etc. or increased displacement of the engine. So for bigger hp more fuel is needed and by consequence more oxygen is need to combust the fuel. So turbos that will deliver a larger air mass are used (ie bigger). ................................ Argghhh too hard this time of night believe what you will.

Who said anything about one GTR turbo working on its own!!! BillyMako was asking about twin or single setups on a GTR. I have been very carefull to state right turbo, ability to provide load, etc. Physics is physics and what I have stated in the previous posts is correct. A correctly sized (or oversized within reason) single, twin, triple, quadroople or what ever can will deliver the same volume and psi to an engine at the same revs if the charge temp is the same. The volume does not double or triple or whatever by adding turbos. You are regulating the system to fixed volume, regulated (fixed) pressure and temp. Nuff said.
-
Ahh not quite sunshine. try re-reading what I wrote - maybe pushing was a poor choice of word, supplying may be better. BillyMako was asking "So 2 turbo putting out 12psi are pushing twice the amount of air into the engine than one!" I am pretty sure he means the same engine. So.. Note I said assuming the turbos have the capacity to deliver the load ie we have picked close enough the right turbo. I'll try again still keeping it simple (lets not get into overlap etc) but the engine (any engine) has a specific swept volume that the bore and stroke form (change the definition for rotary) ie the engine displacement. For a six cylinder engine divide this by six and you get the displacement per cylinder. This doesn't change no matter what revs or pressure you throw at it (until something goes wrong and you could have infinite volume with a leg out of bed or such). So for any rpm there will be a fixed volume being presented by the engine. ie a cylinder is only filled so many times in a minute so at a fixed rpm this won't change - "required volume" which is fixed. Now when you add pressure you are effectively increasing the amount (mass) of air being delivered to the engine not volume as that is fixed by the engine. And 12 psi is 12 psi (temperature equivalent) irrespective of the volume. So on the same engine at the same revs one turbo, two turbos or ten turbos will still only deliver the same volume of air to the engine at a regulated 12 psi.
-
No! Two turbos pushing the required engine air volume at 12 psi will be the same as a single pushing the same required engine air volume at 12 psi - Temperature being equal and assuming the turbochargers have the capacity to deliver the load. (P1*V1)T1 = (P2*V2)/T2 P = Pressure V = Volume T = Temperature

Adam Thanks for the comprehensive reply. I have been looking at the rapfix II (maybe I will win your promo - that would make it easy) but is there any feedback on legality for the road? Reality is my car is it is not a pure track car and needs to stay road registered (and as close to fully legal as possible). The floor plan on the GTR makes any flat mount difficult but I will compare your pics and see if a modded porca unit will work. Cheers

Guys Thanks for the replies. Bride low max rail may be a good tip. I have been using either standard or RX rails and they have pushed me too high. I think I must prefer a more upright driving position as I am only 6' (shite Jack how do you cope) I have been looking at one of the new Works Bell spacer/tilt units as it may help with the wheel/leg balance. I have been trying to avoid swapping seats for track to road but it is looking like it may be necessary. Thanks so far guys. This forum has been really good to me and I do appreciate it - learning the hard way all the time is too painfull and expensive. Cheers

Guys I am having real trouble finding a seat/rail combination that will fit my car and still leave me with some room for a helmet. Std GTR seats - not enought support need to lay back a long way to get helmet clearance, SR3 Recaros - uncomfortably tight around the thighs, OMP recliners - almost need to lay down to get head clearance (ok with no helmet). Can anyone enlighten me with seat/rail combos that actually fit and give you some head room. Would prefer to stay with some form of rail to allow for/aft adjustment but not sure if its possible. All suggestions/experiences appreciated. Help!!!

One of the strangest requests I've seen but I see where you a coming from. Opening (ie seals) 1100mm wide by 400mm above the lights - the cut down area will make it easier as you pick up more room. Inside 1330mm wide at best by 530mm edge of plastic trim to bulkhead under brace. Lots of luck. Cheers

Guys. Don't panic the LCT has been around for donkey's years. It was intoduced by the Frazer (Lib) Government in 1979. It has recently been at 25% and now is going to 33%. Your R35 GTR @ $150k dealer price will now be around $154,600 not $200k. Dealer price - 25% old LCT = $117,500 base, now add 33% new LCT means $154,600. Not saying I agree with it as the btards rarely raise the threshold. So like personal income tax you effectively get bracket creep. $57k today doesn't buy what it used to. I personally believe I /we pay more than enough income tax, gst, etc to support the fat beaurocrats and welfare system if only it was run a bit more efficiently. But I guess if it shat me off badly enough I could always vote with my feet and live somewhere else.

Vintage of the engine - 32, 33, 34?? Bore? Cams? Cheers

Remove and lose. Possession of one is an offence.

I am in the same boat 66 would be best but at the suit I got has the floating sleeves and stretch back so it makes it more comfortable and easier to wear (a few kg off and it would be even better). Have a look at the OMP suits. They seem to be a bigger fit than the other Italian suits. Nomex, especially the shiny stuff, is very hard to get hold of now. Rumour has it DuPont is only supplying to the military due to high demand and no doubt good returns. Good luck

Gees Tim You must have got a right nazi in your deal. No issues at all with my transaction. No additional taxes, etc. Shipping can be a bit expensive if they use Fedex or similar but good old US Postal Express works fine. Tektrader - try on a local suit if you're not sure (I know its a bit mean spirited) then look OS. The bigger Sparcos have a reasonable amount of room. I am +46" chest and the size 64 Sparco (Top 5) fits well (tad tight around the guts but working on that as it shouldn't be there). A bit long maybe as I am only 5'11" but it is fine in the car (bit extra length/room makes it more comfortable). It really is a deal by deal proposition but if I had stayed local I would have been forced to buy a lesser suit due to the $$.

Let us know how the RS-R goes. Group buy on at some temping prices so if they are acceptable ..... Cheers

If you are looking in the USA have a gander at upr.com under the garage sale race suits. Prices are very good and they will do Paypal which makes it easy as a lot of US companies won't take overseas credit cards. Wire trans is a pita. If you get a euro brand (eg Sparco) they will generally be FIA and SFI approved from the states. As an example I recently bought a Sparco Top 5, 3 Layer suit that is FIA and SFI 3-2A/5 approved. Best bit from UPR it worked out at AUD$680 delivered. Same suit is around $2g in Aus. I was lucky, last suit, big size and aus dollar up on the greenback but that is still a hell of a deal. Happy shopping

Fs Or Eoi Genuine Recaro Sr3 As New
WRRR replied to WRRR's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Anyone remotely interested? -
Guys I have a pair of genuine Recaro SR3 in Black/Cha (as per the label) that do not really fit my needs. These seats are "as new". They were purchased and have only been test fitted to two cars. No tears, no scratches, no burns, no wear - as new. Even the mount points are still fully painted. These cost me over $1200 each (on a good deal) but I am willing to let them go for $1800 for the pair if anyone is interested. I can provide low mount rails to suit R33 at $500 for the pair all brand new as well if wanted. Pic attached for reference only but I can drag the camera out if required. Prefer WA (located in Bunbury) to possibly avoid freight but if anyone wants to cough for freight I am willing to ship. If your interested PM me. And for the low ballers and "I can get them cheaper elsewhere" merchants please don't whore the thread - Trust me if your aren't buying direct from Recaro or a distributor brand new you won't find better.

QUOTE([Michael] @ 29 Jul 2008, 02:30 PM) * if it saves one life, its better than nothing.... QUOTE({bubba] @ 29 Jul 2008, 05:33 PM) * Exactly. Whoohoo Captain Karl and Grant the Man will be so happy to hear that one. Lets ban all cars, trucks, motorbikes and bicycles and we will stop all deaths on the road. Oh sorry lets ban walking at more than a moderate pace as well (heart attacks) and ban lycra on fat people walking in public (just not good taste) and ..... sorry thats just getting silly. How about make the maximum speed limit 25 kph and fit all vehicles with proximity sensors and linked GPS so they will never be allowed within 10m of each other. That way we get to keep cars and not kill people - what a wonderful land we would live in. Come on guys how about a bit of personal responsibility and respect to those people we share the planet with. If we need to start somewhere with cars why don't we try making getting a licence a bit more that a half assed written test in the language of your choice and a practical test that is nothing more the physical basics of keeping your mind on the job long enough to pass a drive around the block. Even driving schools only teach you how to pass the test not how to drive. Ye pays ye gets ye licence. I appreciate your passion and I hate seeing unneccesary deaths on the road but you are starting to sound like idealistic wowsers. A single pronged approach to a complex, multi-causal problem will never work.
-
Cars don't kill people - people do! Its all about attitude and respect and understanding of the consequences of your actions. Have a look at how people behave towards each other, how its all about me, my rights, my rules ... but these types of people don't worry about their impact on others or what the consequences for "my" actions might actually be. This trait is not just in the young - have a look at the road rage, bashings, what are you lookin at attitude and you see a pattern. Imposing rediculous restrictions on P platers won't achieve anything, the idiots will still be idiots until they grow up and realise they are a part of society and have a real impact on everyone around them. Sad thing is some will never grow up and then they teach the same behaviours to their kids and so on. Yup I own a fast car (and have owned a number of them), yup I have driven very fast (in controlled environments) and yup I have been stupid on the road and lived to tell the tale. Thankfully to come away a little wiser and unlikely to be so stupid again. Bubba as for the 100kw NA 4 cylinder argument when was the last time you punted a westfield or such around. 100 kw can go damn fast if you put it in the right chassis. Think about the 250cc Motorbike limit for new licence holders - ever pushed a performace 2 stroke 250 hard. Its not the answer, bandaid maybe but not the answer.
-
And "ATTITUDE". Bans on performance cars or setting a low power to weight ratio for P platers won't save lives. Realistically a P/W will need to be at V6 commonwhore numbers (or similar) or the motor trades will scream the joint down. You can get into plenty of trouble in a commodore, falcon, camry or even old gemini if you want to. On a per capita basis the deaths by vehicle are not getting worse. There are more in actual number because there are a lot more people out there and the media (and police) will high profile it for the easy wins/publicity instead of tackling the real issues behind it all. These things are always tragic and I hope it never happens to people I know and I wished didn't hapen at all. If your behind the wheel just think about the consequences before you act.
