i will never use thread tech again, unreliable is an understatement lol. 3 Bookings and not so much as a call to say 'sorry bot going not make it', there work is good but whats the point if he never shows up. I finally got onto Danny from ProThreads, he used to work for thread tech but got the shits with them screwing customers around, he is awesome. Arrived on time (on weekend too), good prices and good bloke all round. He doesn't advertise, so its hard to find him in yellowpages etc..., but contacts are: ProThreads Danny Dowdle 0402 106 388 Cheers, Matt

+1 for Nissan Micra, I have one as my daily, awesome fun to run around in, chuck a CAI and Exhaust/Extractors on and you double the output lol, should see 70-80kw in something that weighs nothing more than a fart! Picked mine up for just over 3k, fuel efficient, just clicked over 310K's and still going strong! Pic of my micra: http://www.micra.com.au/community/message....messageid=46854

sounds like the same issue with mine, but mine is much worse. Besides the diff being stuffed, I have WAY to much backlash in the diff, but a 2nd hand one, preshimmed ready to put in when i get a chance

Need Supplier For Multi-core Wire / Cable For Looms
33driver replied to stolly's topic in Fabrication
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Thats about the best you get, its really hard to gauge amperage exactly cause its amp limit changes with length, quality of cable etc... The thing with Austech cable is consistency, you know the insulation, strand count and strand thickness will be the same all along the cable. All I can say is fuse it! And fuse it to match the device its going to (Ie, if the device's max draw is 5amps, match it with a 5amp fuse, don't put a 30amp fuse in there hehe) Let me know how you go, AI can be a little hit and miss, but they are always good for hunting a sale, just need to talk to the right people -
In capalaba, moving to Wynnum in a few weeks, will be keen for meet ups once I get my car back on the road

Yeah I know a few, whereabouts?

My 300rwkw Clutch Search - R34
33driver replied to SS8_Gohan's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
If you want a Jap clutch, go Nismo or ORC if you want something local, can't go past Jim Berry clutches, had one in my old Z and would have put one in my skyline if I didn't get such a good deal on the ORC (single plate - 400ps). -
Need Supplier For Multi-core Wire / Cable For Looms
33driver replied to stolly's topic in Fabrication
Hey guys, 2 things, 1) definitely use Austech cable, some of the best stuff out there. 2) They have exclusive contracts with a company called Ashdown-Ingram on automotive cable. Ashdown-Ingram are owned by the repco group. As long as things haven't changed since i was there, Austech, via AI will make any cable runs you want as long as you get enough The cable is branded under 'OEX'. They are a big brand in their own right. AI are auto elec wholesalers around australia. Contacts via http://www.ashdowningram.com.au If you have problems dealing with them let me know and I'll give you direct contacts to the state sales managers. They are generally wholesale/trade only but are known for doing cash sales. P.S. I'm looking at their catalouge now, 19 core (colour-coded), fully tinned automotive/marine cable, not sure of width but looks like automotive 3mm or 4mm. Duncan, I seriously would get in contact with AI, narva cable (which they sell) is WAY more expensive than OEX (even more than hella i think!). -
have a real close look at the coils mate, i went over mine with a magnifying glass twice before i found where one of mine had cracked. After that check spark plug gapping (I run .8 gap but that was as a result of less than good coils).

Hey all, Had my mechanic mate over on sunday doing some work on the car and sussing out what needs doing. The diff is stuffed pretty much stuffed, excessive backlash and when you spin 1 wheel the other one doesn't even move lol. Annoyingly, I wish I could say I broke the diff, but alas, previous owner was unkind to her. So what are my options? I've just bought a house so cash is on the tight side at the moment, so I need to go the cheapest route. That said, I don't want something that is going to break a month later. Can any give me rough costs on: Full diff rebuild (assuming crown and pinion are beyond repair and require replacing). or Swap out say a Kazz center, drop new bearings, pinion and crown in and be done with it What sort of labour is involved? I haven't pulled down a diff before but have no real problem trying with my mechanic if its doable. or Should I just grab a 2nd hand one and repair the other one when I have more time/money? If I grab a 2nd hand one, what am I looking for? (specific specs to a 96' Series 2 Manual? and What can I look for in terms of evidence of abuse?) Cheers guys,I'll start doing the ring around tomorrow. Matt
