  1. I am so upset. 2 Aussie legends gone in one week when so much evil still lives on. RIP Peter and Steve.
  2. Thanks alot all. I was always under the impresssion that these cars where good but began getting a little worried when i start seeing alot of threads about decommisioned ones. I think i will now start to organise the finance needed and start looking around for a clean example. Thankyou for all your input as it has been a big help. In conclusion at GTR lemons? If you dont drive one, then maybe to you they are. For those who do drive them and maintain them correctly. Answer is NO. Just what i was after. EDIT: BTW if someone wants to change the title to answer = no. That would be fine.
  3. Hey all, Thanks for the quick replies. If only all service was this good. I dont mind if some things need a freshen up as that is expected with cars once they hit a certain age. I have never owned anything new and i dont see it happening unless its drastic (that is no more petrol left). I guess these motors might be expensive to rebuild in terms of parts but that shouldnt be too much of a problem. Are parts interchangeable between r32 - r34? As long as they are available it shouldnt matter. The difference in price between a r33 and r32 would no doubt lean you towards the r33 if you take into account a rebuild but i fell in love with the r32 so im sticking with that. In regards to the earlier 89 cars, are these more likely to develop rust then later model 32s? I found that when dealing with holdens, anything prior to 89 came with rust from the factory, but since the vn commy rust hasnt been a problem. Are there any other problem rust areas besides the boot and under the side skirts? WLDCRD, you mentioned that you bought an expensive lemon. First off sorry to hear as i know the feeling.. Judging by your experience, would you say in hindsight you would have been better buying a cheap gtr in good cosmetic condition and fixing the problems then? What is still giving you problems if you dont mind me asking? Lastly the reason i was considering a gts-4 was to do an engine conversion to either rb25 or rb30. Seems there is a bit of mucking about with the sump ive read on here. I think its best i rule this out though as i will regret it later, the gtr has such nice lines and i should just get that. Once again thanks for all your help guys. I was on the edge as to whether get one and you guys pushed me off.. Thanks!
  4. Hey All, First post and im currently converting so go easy on me. First of all il start by saying great site and lots of helpful information. Im currently considering whether to buy a R32 GTR and have been searching the forums since i have joined trying to find out everything that can go wrong with them. In this process i have noticed that there are alot of members that see them as lemons and not the great car i have always thought they were. Alot of the critism seems to come from GTS members but i dont see the GTR guys jumping up to defend the GTR. I have always seen the GTR as a car i would one day like to own, however if i do purchase one, it will have to be a daily driver aswell. I have always been a holden man and hense been relying on v8s, but now my love for the r32 has been rekindled (Damn you Bathurst reruns i watched). Anyways, bassically my question is this: Are GTRs (especially r32s) lemons or can they be used daily without headaches. Are the GTS guys jealous or do they have a point that most spend time on chassis stands then been driven? Thanks. Dan. PS. How does the GTS-4 rate aswell as this might be another option. thanks again.
