WEll I agree with the above mentioned. Just one thing. There have been fires here on the east coast. There is a fair bit of damage. The east is great but the west has some really nice roads. If you go to strahan. It is a real tourist town, so dont expect much to do unless you ahve money. You can go fishing down there though there are some really nice spots. Here are my recommendations for tassie. FIRST = Come and see my fish farm (hehehehe free plug) it is called 41south and is outside of deloraine of mole creek road. (this is the common way that people go to strahan) The next places i mention have free tastings and are all around the western tier area (Ashgrove farm cheese/ Anvers Chocolate/Chudleigh Honey farm) my farm is on the way to the honey farm. When you are on the way west stop outside of rosebery and go and look at the Montizumna falls. They are the highest waterfall in tassie. Nice flat walk to get there. Outside of Strahan there are the Henty dunes. Its about 3km of sand dunes (high ones) that go all the way to the beach. Then there is Strahan. Its nice to look around and have a fish. From strahan to hobart there is not a lot just about 350km of windy roads. (no gravel) there are the odd few trucks though. When in hobart have a look at the mountain. They and be there on a saturday so u can go to salamanca market. Its a big market where u can drink eat and buy things. Its on the docks. There are heaps of things to do in hobart it just depends on how much time you have. When you hit the road again and go north/east Freycinett should be your next stop. It is a national park so u will need a parks pass to get the car in. Go to wineglass bay and the surrounding areas. They are reaaly nice. If it is warm have your bathers at the ready. You can always find a secluded beach to have a dip. To be honest (and this is just my opinion there is not a lot to see from coles bay/freycinett back to launceston) go through the sideling (really cool and twisty road from scottsdale to launceston) In Launceston the Cateract Gorge is a MUST. Free entry, you can go swimming in the pool or the gorge for free. there is the worlds longest single span chairlift and it is just a nice area. Other than that i cant think of any more things that i can highly recommend. I am sure there are other things to do but well this us just my 20 cents worth. I hope that you have a great time here in tassie and that the weather is friendly to you. one word of advise. COME PREPARED FOR ANY TYPE OF WEATHER. it doesnt matter that it is summer we can still ahve snow. although feb - april is pretty good and warmish (depends what your used to) Anyway thats it from me can you tell i tell ppl about tassie a lot

I think that it goes alright, i have only spoken to the owner once, i was pretty pissed and cant remember much, but yeah, if that is what you are after, check it out. I think it lives on West Godderick street in deloraine. (i think that is how u spell the street name. I would ask about service history though coz i have seen it sideways a couple of times

HI all i am wanting to sell an amp i have in may car. I bought it 6 months ago. It has been in the car for 3 months now and there is nothing wrong with it. It is a Tarantula amp made by soundstream. New it costs - $3k (around about) i think that mine still is under warranty and has NEVER beed misshandled. It is one of the chromed series with the big taratula on top of the amp. The amp is a 500/4 4 channel amp if anyone wants to do a search for info on it... it is the last of the chromed sereis. the new sereis are pretty much the same but are not so, in your face with the styling. My reason for selling is that it is way to big for what i want and when i bought it i was right into the car audio thing. I am not so much anymore coz of the fact i have a little one and i need the money for other things. I am very firm on the asking price of $1500.. If you want to negotiate we can start the negotiation price at $1800 and then go down to $1500 I am in tassie and if anyone wants a look or listen then pm me and we arrange something Cheers Ben

Hey all i am in the process of making one of these for my s1 4 door. The only thing where something can differ is dependant on what type or airpod you use. I have an apexi and wog has a hks one. the hks filter sits off a pipe that you can go around where as the apexi bolts straight to the aiflow meter, so its a bit more tricky to get attached

I really like my R33 but i agree with the master here and think that something like this would be awsome.

Well, with reagard to the rego, i payed about... 600-700 (something like that) and the stamp duty was on top of that. (cant remember exactly). With the insurance it depends a lot on what you want the car valued at. Mine is valued at $12k-$13k through shannons and i pay (full comp) $800 something (low eight hundereds) they are really good on the phone. Most of the people are interested in cars, that work there. One thing is, that if the car has not been registered for more than 3 months you will have to supply them with photos of the car from all 4 corners and engine bay and inside front, back and boot. So that they are happy that the car isnt crashed before yiou insure it. Hope that this helps some. If you have any specific questions feel free to give me a pm

WEll i can agree with the comments above. (well some of them). Anyway i vought my car for $7000 its an r33 4door series 1. It was chaep enough. I bought it in melb and it cost me about ......... ($7k +rego+RACT inspection) that was it.... along with the obligatory spirit of tas fee. (cant get around that unless you buy your own boat) . I would just like to agree with the comment that you get what you pay for. I will be the first to admit that even though my car checked out ok on first inspeciton it was still a bit of a lemon. Coz i had some plans it didnt matter so much, however none the less its still a pain in the AR$E. I had a turbo with shaft play/exhaust manifold with 8 out of 12 botls snapped/ buggered o2 sensor/ buggered airflow meter/ and some fueling issues/ oh and my suspension was FU#@ED. i knew this before i bought the car and knew that i was going to change it anyway so it wasnt a big drama. Now after about about hhhhmmmmm $5k+ i have highflowed turbo/manifolr/02/airflow/suspension/exhaust and some other bitz and peices fixed. adding onto that the rego and insurance (shannons I highly recomend) i am at a total of about $15k. Now i want to get a tune or aftermarket ecu or something. Anyway that is not what this topic is about. So my point really (or should i say finally) is that you DO get what you pay for and i also think that... whatever you buy, be it a car from melm or tassie, get it mechanically chekced or at least take it for about a 20-30km test drive so that you can really get a feel for the car.. Thats my 20cents worht (probably more like $5 worht but who cares) Hope you find something u like

Well.... I got a new, (second hand) mirror yesterday and it will go on, on the weekend. Thanks a lot to livicuru from SAU for sourcing me the mirror.. I found out that the kids have been to Ashley a couple of times. (anyone from tassie will know that this is the youth detention center here. My uncle in law works there and he knows the names of the boys. So all i can do is...... NOTHING...... Oh well.. Doesnt matter it is fixed now and if it happens again i can tell you there will be more than some abusive words happening. sequence of events= = = = =

Hi all, Just a quick question... does anyone know how much a electric mirror is for an r33 s1. Yesterday i was at home on the comp and some F@#$Ks came past, (about 15-17year olds) high as kits and thought it might be a good idea to kick/punch my side mirror. My neighbour saw it and pissbolted over here. i went in the car with him, and chased them up the street. when i caught them they were pretty shit scared, rightly so. and then the usual shit happend "i didn't do it", "wasn't me man", "you cant prove anything"... Well that may be true. i didnt see them but i rang the cops anyway and reported them, coz i got their names and numbers, (which are probably fake). So if anyone has a passenger side mirror that is up for sale i am in launceston, tasmania, give me a pm and let me know a price. It has to be silver.(i would possibly consider 2 black ones, passenger and driver) i would prefer one silver one though. Geez shit like this pisses me off. Thanks for the tip. I will keep it in mind. The only problem that i have with those comps is that i have an auto so therefore i cant get a haltech,mircotech,altronic. I can get a wolf and a motec. motec is too expensive but i would love to have one of them. So that is where i am at. I was gonna get it tuned at White racing in devonport, they have done a bit with skylines, but i am always on the lookout for stuff. Yeah i know about the aftermarket ecu... money is the main thing. And i do not drive the car that much at the moment. I can pool to work and drive it on the weekends. Well thank you very much Catkicker, and as u said, we all know what it is like. Not all of us can afford to get a cams license and buy a race car and race in the octagon series or at symmons. Therefore it is hard to have a bit of fun from time to time, and i think (sometimes and then it hurts) that noone buys a performance car for putting around in. Anyway i dont want to russle any fearthers and just really wanted to share my happiness of getting the car back on the road. I understand, and in hindsight agree that i should not have done it with the family in the dar, however i would like to think that i am responisble enough to no do anything to stupid especially with that sort of responisbility in the car. ( conditions were, daytime, dry, straight 2lane hwy, no other cars about.) Ben

thanks wog, Yeah i am using the factory comp for the moment. money is a little tight at the moment..... nothing goes quick other than petrol. I hope to get a V4 wolf and send it to the factory for an upgrade. Then we will see about fixing the flatspot and some fuel issues and some other stuff. I am sure my fuel issues have a lot to do with the larger turbo and the fact the factory ecu cant handle everything its getting. so when i get a new comp o will also get a bosch or walbarogh(???) dont know about spelling, fule pump. and then we will se what happens. I will dyno run it and post the results...... It wil still be a while though

Hi All, YEAH!!!!! the only hurdle that is left for my car is my driveway. It has been sitting at the shop for weeks waiting for my turbo to be fixed. I got my factory series 1 turbo high flowed. It was sent to GCG and gat all new internals, with housings machined. They DIDN'T high flow the wastegate, so therefore i had something i like to call boost sprint. (there was nothing creeping about it) it went....... BBBBRRRRRR 2psi,3psi,5psi,hold,hold,hold,10psi,15psi,25psi plafff, fart spit, fart, (insert swearword here) backoff. (all in about 3 seconds. hhhmmmm. I looked at it with some firends and the actuator arm was moving fully, however coz the wastegate was too small it didnt let the pressure out. I rang GCG and they said, to my ammusement, oh that only happens one in ten so we dont worry about highflowing the wastegate. (let me repeat, "....one in ten....") i dont care what you say, that is a sh!t load. 10%. If it was maybe on in 1000 i could understand but one in ten, come on... So the turbo had to be taken off and i sent it away. They sent it back saying that they had tested it and that there was no prob. it holds 10psi. hhhhhhmmmmm that was weird, anyway maybe nissan (who put the turbo on for me) may have moved something when putting it all together. So it went back on and then the same thing was happening. Bugger, i thought. I rang them up and complained and said that they didnt do it right. (i might just add here that i didnt do any work myself, it was all done by paid ppl. So it went back and they adjusted the actuator arm and now it is great. there is a dead spot that i have between 4500 and 6000, (dont know what will fix that) but then it pulls like a steam train from 6-7k. I have an auto and when it changes gear it seems to hit the rev limiter every gear change (when it is flat to the floor) but I thought that coz its an auto it shouldnt be doing that. It sould be the fuel pump not being able to supply fuly or somehting like that. The sound seems to be coming from the back of the car, but i cant be sure. I know how your missus dirves.... LIKE U.... I am also part of the fuel consumption club. I get 320-340k on a tank of 55-60 litres (i think) And that is driving normally (for a skyline driver) but even when i go to work with the car 60km each way highway, it still isnt much better. I have FMIC, 3 inch from turbo back, highflowed turbo, ALL NEW TURBO SIDE OF THE CAR (manifold, O2, exhaust, Airlow metre, blah blah blah) and still lots of fuel. I have new fuel filter and am thinking about getting a new pump. I dont think that it is the pump though. I wish that we could figure this all out between us all and have a siple fix for everyone that would be nice. But i suppose it is all part and parcel of a performance car eh?? Anyway that was my 20 cents I think that these forums are great though and i would like to pass on my appreciating to everyone that submits answer to any problems on this forum.... THANKS
