The Mitsubishi i is the turbo petrol version of the newly released i-miev, Mitsubishi's electric vehicle. The petrol version features a mid-mounted (behind the rear seats) turbo engine which delivers outstanding fuel economy and extremely low CO2 emissions. However, the petrol version achieves about 6 times the range of the electric version. This car is the top 'G-Spec' model which includes alloy wheels, Smart Key system and HID headlights. Has a genuine 59,000 kms on the Odometer, and is in very good condition, looks almost new! It is a small car, however it has surprisingly comfortable seats and good leg room inside. It is a perfect city car, as it has a small chassis and great safety features too. The car is registered for a full year and will come with a current Victorian RWC. Hi all, Sorry if this is a bit similar to all the parts shop Q's, but I just wanted to know where would be the best and cheapest place in/around Tokyo to get VIP car parts? By that I mean Junction Produce and Garson etc etc products. Would somewhere like Crystal have this type of stuff? Or UpGarage, Super Autobacs? I will have a car, however I think if I am going to go to Chiba, I will just train it as I don't like the idea of driving from Ikebukuro all the way to Chiba. Thanks, Ryan

Forgot to mention also that these engines came with certain forged internals and H beam rods. Pretty tough engine and could handle quite high HP. Could use it for a drag/dyno car maybe. It was previously registered in WA, so it would just need a RWC to get it on the road again. Currently not running, not sure whats wrong with it. Sounds like its about to start, but just won't! Was running a month or two ago, so shouldn't be anything too major. We thought maybe fouled spark plugs or some other ignition type issue? Anyway, just wondering if anyone is interested. Only have old pics, will try get some current ones soon. Will not come with the pictured rims, but could include some other nice Japanese mags if the price is right. If anyone is interested, PM me or msg me on my phone and probably best to come check it out sometime. Pretty rare car, and looks pretty nice with the body kit. Would just need a little tidy up and get it running and it would be a very nice cruiser! Forgot to add also, drivers window is currently out, was going to use it in another Cima, but didn't so just needs to be put back in. Otherwise, could be useful for parts for someone. The engine in this is a VG30det, basically a single (larger) turbo version of 300zx engine. These are generally worth around $2k at Japanese wreckers anyway, so it could be a cheap way to get some nice parts. Also has airbag suspension, and according to previous owner has upgraded air lines, so it should be faster to pump up and down.

Great pics Peter. We missed out on going when I was there recently cos we went out for dinner with a Japanese friend and got drunk instead. I even had a hire car and everything Oh well, next time. That car you forgot...looks like an older Toyota Crown. Like an 89-91 ish model. I could be wrong though.

Heading there soon myself actually Carasky. Didnt get fares quite that cheap tho!! Daikoku is in Yokohama basically...it's a fair way out I believe (like 30-40 mins out of Tokyo proper). Even if you had a fairly big map of Tokyo, it most probably wouldnt get that far down!! Anyway, hope you enjoy your trip, how long are you away for? BeerBaron, I think I've worked out that Tokyo is to the top of that map (?)... up that way. Unless it is kinda around the wrong way?? I compared it to the google map that icandy posted and it definitely looked like "up" to Tokyo. Left looked like it went to Yokohama city. Anyway, not meaning to have a go, I'm just confused as many people seem to be when talking Daikoku. lol Do you have any advice on how to get there from lower suburbs of Tokyo (meguro to be precise). I think it's expressway all the way once you sort of get out of the city, but how do you get onto the expressway, or where does it start? Any tips would be awesome! Cheers

A domokun is one of these: I think it's a show/mascot of NHK television network (or some other Japanese TV network). Have a bit of a cult following...well they did. Maybe not as big anymore. I saw quite a few big Domokun stuffed toys and stuff last time I was in Japan. Maybe theyre a little harder to track down these days?

I am coming to Osaka, will be there for a week (found a good place to stay, so will just daytrip out of Osaka to Hiroshima, Kyoto etc). If you could give me a bit more info on the places you know that would be great as they sound right in my price range. Name, location etc etc. As you say, the food should be reasonable. I'm not expecting Kobe beef or sumthing at an all you can eat price like that, lol. Do you know what the all you can drink price includes?? I know some places have all sorts of stuff like cocktails etc, but we will probably just be drinking beer. Hopefully they have a good beer on tap or in bottles! Thanks for your help guys!!

Besides cars or parts for cars, I reckon I'd bring back a crate of canned coffee. Every time I'm in Japan I can't help myself with that stuff. Usually end up drinking 5 or 6 cans a day. Altho one time I was on a school trip and we went on a bus trip to Kyoto and Nara and I must have had about 10 or 12 cans...Bad Idea...had to piss like every 10 minutes!!

Hey guys, Taking my fourth trip to Japan in June for 2 weeks. I know, I know...it will be hot and humid, but I work at a Uni as a Lab Tech so I can't easily go anywhere during semester. Also, we got some really friggin cheap fares with Deathstar so we thought why the hell not. The dollar-yen is really good at the moment too. Anyway, this time I'm going with my best mate, who hasn't been before. Previous trips I have always had one or both of my parents so this time I want to try a few new/different things like checking out car shit, and going out drinking etc etc. Anywho, we thought we would try one of the All you can eat and all you can drink places as I have never done this before. Preferably Yakiniku, cos I love that stuff, but Shabu Shabu or sumthing else would be cool too. So I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good place in either Tokyo or Osaka that we can try this. Was looking to get out of it for around 4000 yen each or a max of about 5500 yen each. I have seen a few tidbits of info on the Net, but its hard to actually find out where places are, and some of them are a bit above what we would want to spend. On average we're budgeting about 30-40 a day for food each (obviously some will be less, some more). So if you know a really great place with decent prices, let me know please!! Cheers

Thanks Beer Baron, Now I feel at ease! Must've been about them blitzing modded cars or just plain bullshit...can't exactly remember where I read it either... Anyway, will definitely check it out. Will be a Friday or Saturday night too, so it should hopefully be decent. On another note, similar to the OP, I want to check out some workshops and parts stores. Just wondering what the best place is to pick up used bits or hard to find stuff. I know Yahoo is great for this, but I don't have an account and I think it would be very hard to organise to bid on stuff and get it delivered to my hotel or pick it up on a 2 week trip. I'm particularly interested in electronics like Pivot meters and gauges and Defi Gauges and parts for my Y31 Cima. Also, VIP goods like Garson and Junction Produce (these I might buy new...depends on the price and availiability of second hand stuff). Stuff like curtains, dash tables etc. If any of you lads have any ideas on that, they would be greatly appreciated. I'm going with my mate who isn't that much into cars, so will probably only spend around one full day (spread out b/w a few days) looking at car stuff, but will still be good. Cheers guys

Was gonna make a thread bout Daikoku myself...but seems this one is now sorta about it anyway. So...I will be going to Japan in June. Am planning on hiring a car for a few days in Tokyo a) cos I can get one really cheap and b) cos I wanna go to Daikoku! I figured a taxi from Tokyo is gonna be almost as expensive as hiring the car, if not more and then we can use it to check out some other Tokyo workshops and hard to get to areas. Anyway...my Question is this: If we go there, what are the legalities of this?? ie if the cops show up, are we doing anything wrong by being there checking out the cars? I have heard that they sometimes have come and given everyone fines (although maybe this was just for ppl with their modified cars there?) or it could also be total BS. I know its paranoid, but I dont wanna spend my last few nights in Tokyo worrying about how I'm going to pay some random fine!! Oh, and also...can anyone give me an idea of how much it will cost me in tolls to get down there and back (in Yen). Been to Japan a few times but never driven, so if it will cost me heaps in tolls it might not be such a great idea to head down there. Thanks heaps guys, Cheers, Ryan

I'm heading to Japan for my fourth trip in June with my mate who hasn't been before. (and as such may have a few Q's for Rezz or others soon!!) We're staying a week in Osaka at a place called Weekly Mansion Otemae. Costing about 500 for the 2 of us for a studio apartment with 2 single beds. Pretty damn cheap. Pretty sure double mite be availiable, or you could just push the two beds together!! Check them out, just google it. Room has kitchenette, bathroom etc. Small rooms, but thats what you get in Japan! +1 for Miyajima. Its pretty touristy but is definitely worth a visit. In particular I recommend going up the cable car to the top of the mountain. Kyoto is also a must see, and Osaka is a good base for that, Hiroshima and some other good day trips so you should have a good time. Good Luck!!

Slightly off topic sorry, but there is actually a place that does them here in Vic too, and they have plates. Unsure about any RAWS in other states though. Maybe someone down here can buy it and bring it down. I'd love to see more Aristos driving around. Totally hot car. Good Luck with the sale mate

Just wanted a little bit more info from one of the J-Spec guys or Razor on this if I could. Says you need proof that you are returning to Aus. Does this mean that you could only ever do one personal import, as you would have to do it when moving back from Japan? Or otherwise keep moving back and forth b/w the 2 countries? Or can you do one a year for as long as you are there and say that you intend to move back to Aus at some later stage? Obviously living here atm I have an Aussie address and bank accounts etc. Woud those be enough if I keep them to show intent to move back here permanently? The reason I'm asking is that I may move to Japan at some stage, and there are a few cars on my list that I would love to bring back over, so if it was possible to live there for say 3 years and bring 3 over that would be awesome.

Hey all, Selling my 1989 Y31 Cima Is a 3lt V6 turbo...VG30DET, same as 300zx engine but single large turbo. Came stock with some forged internals (H-Beam rods and sumthing else..) Features: Full Impul bodykit Weds Farmas D-Revolt rims 17" Height adjustable airbag suspension, with aftermarket DataSystems controller Pillarless windows. Power windows and mirrors with fold in feature. Full leather interior Electric seats, front and rear Climate Control Small Fridge on Rear parcel shelf ABS Wipers on side mirrors Auto dimming LCD rear view mirror Factory JBL speaker system Kenwood MD/CD unit Vision Immobiliser/Alarm and keyless central PIAA Fogs Greddy/Trust air filter (panel, good filter) Exhaust system (not done by me...think its 3 inch?) Very PIMP car...not many around, and looks SO MUCH better than stock ones. Has pretty much every mod-con you would want and looks very nice and a bit different. Very fast when you need it, however it has not been thrashed by me as she is my pride and joy!! I have smoked one or two SS commodores at lights before tho!! Just had new water pump put in and a minor service. Also timing belt only about 5K ks old. Near new rear tyres (approx 4K ks) and fronts (approx 10K ks). Will be getting wheel balance and changing oil filter (wasn't done yet as I have a nice Greddy one to go in) before passing it on to new owner. Will come with RWC, and she has around 9 months rego (sep 07). Please note that plates will NOT be coming with the car however. Faults: Very bottom of front bar has a few small scrapes...not that noticable, but not absolutely pristine. Missing one door panel of the body kit (think it is passengers door one, I have one in the boot) so only one side has the door panels atm Interior boot release switch is broken, so I just use the key outside...prolly pick up another from wreckers Slight tappet/lifter noise from engine. Very common with this engine, however won't result in any harm. Had it looked at, but mechanics weren't sure how to get rid of it. Thats about it really...basically in perfect condition. Looking for around 10.5k but definitely negotiable. Come along and have a test drive/inspection. I'm in SE suburbs, not far from Knox etc. No probs with cops tho...doesn't look like a hoon car!!!!
