  1. Well, before you buy the car make sure u get it inspected by a peformance mechanic, especially check the engine via compression/leak down tests. Also check the body for rust. 4.5k for a standard rebuild sounds about right. If all goes well, you should be alright. Besides alot of them have already had rebuilds. I'd keep spare money though, because if somethign does break it will be costly, engine and turbos inclusive. But if you decide to get one, you'll never look back.
  2. That's just so wrong. Don't ever say that again please.
  3. Meh. At least 32s don't look like the Nissan equivalent of a Camry. Pfft...track car. LoL.
  4. I thought it was 0.2 secs slower, according to Nissan factory specs. Also don't know about different models, but the base 34 model. Not saying thats 32s are better, R34 GTRs are better in every aspect. But yeah, i thought the 32s had a quicker 1/4 standard.
  5. Personally, I'd get a 32 GTR. It's such a better car than an R33 GTST (performance aspects.) If you spend 5k on a GTR? It will be an absolute weapon and if you managed to purchase a good clean GTR, then you won't have any problems, they are pretty strong in every aspect. Also, with the AWD you will be able to get the most use of your power. Handling? Let's not go there. I'd only keep the GTST, if i was having difficulty selling it. Peace.
  6. Looks awesome Al! Nice work.
  7. Depends. I'd get the one that's in better condition, both body wise and mechanically. Odds are it would be the 94 model though. But it wouldn't be a "few grand" extra. It would be quite expensive compartively. You could probably pick up a 'good' 89/90 model for around 22k. A good 94 model would set you back somewhere in the high 20s to mid 30s.
  8. All GTRs are worthy of the GODZILLA name. Who cares about the technicalities behind the term.
  9. I'd go the GTR. But you'd have to buy one in decent condition, i reckon for around the 22k mark you can pick up a nice stocker, with a good body and good engine. At the end of the day the GTST is also a great car, but if its within your capacity, then there's no point getting a GTST over a GTR.
  10. haha sweet! I would be very happy with 280-300rwkw for a daily driver. Hopefully all goes sweet. Work will be starting 2moro and hopefully will be finished within 2 weeks! The turbos are actually Group A Nismo Turbos.
  11. Again thanks for the info! Brakes, tyres, suspension are still far away. After the rebuild and mods and rims, i wont have money left over for at least a month or two. After that maybe.
  12. Thanks for the informative post mate. Here are the specs on the turbos i purchased. The code is something like 14411-06U-00 R32 Nismo. AR 60-64 5 degree cut rear wheel 360 degree thrust bearing Steel wheels So these are the bigger n1 turbos?
  13. Thanks for the info! Forgot to mention that the car already has a heavy duty clutch of some sort. It was very hard to engage and made some sort of hissing sound when engaged. Do you much how much $$$ i'm looking at for all those mods? Funds are limited after the respray (because i was over gun metal grey, not coz the spray job was crap.) and engine rebuild. I also need a nice set of rims and alarm........so i can't go too overboard.
  14. Hey guys, My 32 GTR is stockish at the moment. As the engine is currently being rebuilt, i decided to upgrade the turbos to Nismo N1 turbos. The engine will be standard, but will have forged pistons instead of standard. I'm just wondering how much kW would be achievable, at what PSI level of boost. Also what supporting mods would be recommended? i.e fuel pump, oil cooler, dump pipes etc. Car already has a complete exhaust system and Apexi air filters. Thanks, Ali.
  15. Heres a pic of mine. Its a crappy one i took off my phone, but you get the idea. (it's a GTR, the badge wasn't glued on then.)
  16. meh. Traction is the main issue. If they were AWD then we WOULD be in trouble. But till that happens (ain't gonna happen ) ......The GTR can never loose.
  17. For that price you should be able to pick up a decent one.....but prices are already on the way up. Assuming you check the engine compression, body for rust, there wouldn't be much. Suspension parts are sometimes worn, but you can get the seller to fix em up for u as part of RWC. Although, i'd keep back up money for an engine rebuild or new turbos, because you never know and don't wanna end up having a GTR off the road for long periods of time. Oh yeah, plus money for full service.
  18. 16.5k with 152k is a bit steep. You can get S2s for around that much, or slightly more. It's all about price. Set a lower price to attract more potential buyers.
  19. I think he means that if a car is properly tuned for 100RON fuel you SHOULD see improvement from the 90RON fuel. I wouldn't use it unless your car is tuned for it. However, people that have tuned their cars for it have had significant gains.
  20. They are great sleepers. Seriously, who expects to get their doors blown off by a Pulsar hatchback. Cost of the car: $16,000 The look on the Holden owners face: Priceless.
  21. Yeah ofcourse if you increase the boost on a GTi-R it will be close to the GTR 1/4 mile. But i thought we were comparing stock.......12.9 vs 13.9 ain't a pretty sight. That's a lot of carlengths. And I'll have to disagree about the track, mildy modded vs mildly modded? Good night Pulsar.
  22. No, no, I'm not doubting the authenticity of the video, or implying that you're making stuff up! I'm just saying its a one-off event, i.e either coz the GTR was battered, the driver was hopeless etc and on the AVERAGE, a GTR would 9 times out of 10, DESTROY the GTi-R. I mean, its a bit silly to base your entire argument on this one video, thinking objectively, I can't see a GTi-R even keeping close on the corners, let alone the straights, based on what I've seen in terms of lap times, past events etc. Peace.
  23. Twice as fast as a GTST and as fast as a GTR? Sure buddy. I may be biased, but I'm not ignorant. I'll finish with a simple sentence. Your information is incorrect.
  24. Probably a one off man. Seriously, gti-rs are good cars, but they won't handle better or keep on the straight with a GTR. I reckon the GTR driver was hopeless That said, I'm pretty sure the gti-rs would kill a 33 (GTST ofcourse) straight line, but on the track it would be close (unless its raining!)
  25. LoL....it's a Holden. Did this come as a suprise to you?
