Why So Hard To Sell A Skyline?
IOWNU replied to Spiderman's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Hmm 22-25k you could get something decent i reckon. More than 26k onwards i'd expect a pretty immaculate 32 in all aspects. Depends on your luck. -
Yup ECR33= RB25 powered R33. HCR33= RB20 powered R33, only in non turbo though. I wouldn't get an HCR33, just tooo slow.

^^^ haha. LoL.....those cars should have mauled you. I don't think they were "racing"

Why So Hard To Sell A Skyline?
IOWNU replied to Spiderman's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Skylines in general can serve as posing cars. I mean, there are people who don't want performance at all, there are a few non turbo models with very nice bodykits, rims, interiors etc. For some reason, Skylines at the moment have more "street cred" than any other car....or as some people describe it, the wank factor. lol Meh. What can you do. -
Nah def. won't be doing it myself. I'll leave it to the mechanic. But i can anticipate him calling me up everday telling me that he needs another few days etc, for this and that. See how it goes.....
-
lol. Thanks for your info about the cooler as well. Just feels like there are so many small things that need to be done.

Hey mate, Here's the thread about how much the engine cost me, importing it etc. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...showtopic=99723

Hey thanks for the very informative post! Looks like theres more work to be done than I anticipated!

Hey guys, Well I've recently purchased an RB26 engine out of an R34 and it is on its way here now from Japan. Was just wondering what's involved in getting it fitted in an R32? I've heard that its a pretty straight forward job, but was just wondering if everything is interchangeable, or would i need to have certain things changed (such as the ECU, various hoses etc) Just wanna organise things well in advance, so that there are no surprise set backs when the engine gets here. Also, while I've created a thread, how would it effect overall performance? I'm assuming it could only be beneficial towards power output... Thanks, Ali.

Man, he's got a GTR. RB26. lol.

Maybe he means less desireable in terms of looks? Most people don't necessarily buy R33s because they think they look better, you'll find most people like the look of R32s and R34s. But when talking about the GTST/GT-T market, its hard to go past the R33. Unlike the R32, its RB25 equiped, more spacious also its almost as good as an R34 and much cheaper. So the most pracitcal/cost efficient choice becomes the R33, hence their popularity. Also compliance for $2200 is cheap. I had my old 33 done for $2500 w/o tyres, about a year ago.....the workshop wouldn't do R34s by any chance Mecha? I'm thinking about importing one soon.... Also $1250? wow. that would be cheap, but i don't think it can be done, 15yo compliance is at least 1000 bux these days. -
Meh. End of the day its a Falcon. Four door family car, with crap handling, that has proven to have heaps of problems. Why bother?

Supply and Demand. I think the prices of R32 GTRs are bound to hold, even go up.. At the moment, the market is flooded with fresh imports, brining the overall value of the car down. Now, as this constant supply stops, you should see the 32 GTR hold its current value, good examples will be worth more. I doubt many people will import R32 GTRs through the RAWS scheme (i think there are workshops in QLD and NSW) bringing them in at the moment, but it is costly. I imported 3 R32 GTRs this year. The first one, cost me about 16k all up. Bad. Needed an engine rebuild in the first week. The second one, cost me about 18k, complied. Good. Very good compression, good body, few minor defects. I've sold that car now. The third one cost me about 20k all up, but i couldn't be happier. Body was immaculate, the engine was excellent. It seems that the KMs are genuine from condition. It is serving as my project car. Just goes to show that you get what you pay for. I bet the majority of people with "cheapish" GTRs are paying the price now! I think most of real potential buyers have come to the realisation (given the number off the road at the moment) that it's worth investing extra money on purchase price, so as to save money in the future. Conclusion, average price to settle at 20-25k, depending on condition. 25-30k for exceptional, or special vehicles. (very very low kms, or 94 V spec editions etc.) Seems to be that way on carsales at the moment as well.......

Im Looking To Upgrade My Car...
IOWNU replied to Freddy Kruger's topic in General Automotive Discussion
R33 GTS-T would be the go. As above, 32 GTR wouldn't be the go for that price, unless by TLC you mean full engine rebuild plus full spray job...... Second choice goes to the WRX. -
Huh? If his s14 rips GT-Ts....then it should absolutely slaughter WRXs rolling start! Right?
-
You'll find that your GT-T doesn't actually produce 208kW out of the factory....... He was probably held down by the weight. A GT-T shouldn't catch an STi for a while (we're not talking Impreza WRX!) I'd imagine in equal circumstances with equal drivers the STi would have done better. At the drags or track, he would have served it to you.
-
You'd be surprised. I've imported a whole stack of cars sometimes they go through without a glitch, within a month you have your car. Other times, there are compliance issues, RWC issues, even hard to book a rego appointment sometimes! You should allow a bit of time for stuff going wrong, especially if you're really relying on the car being ready on a certain date.

Unknown Button Onb My R32...
IOWNU replied to rice_me_up's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
As Mitchy said, it is for an air purifier. I had one in my R32 GTST. I also had the front spoiler...i really didn't notice much difference with it down. -
Exactly. Those times are taken in ideal conditions, everything is taken into account, temperature, humidity, the amount of petrol in the car, even the drivers are highly skilled midgets. So when there's like 0.5 a second between cars out of the factory, a lot comes down to the driver and conditions, AlexCim.

haha so true. I highly doubt that there are many "goodie goodies" out and about. Besides it was in an industrial area...it's not like they raced in a built up area.
-
haha so true! I have one of those Razo shifters....arrgh. Also, i reckon 38, 40 is just too hot. It's too uncomfortable.
-
If you know someone in Japan, you can get one yourself. Avoid paying the middle-man.
-
Go the GTR.. haha good on ya for winning. Just make sure that video doesn't have clear footage of your plates, or face (same applies to your boss/his car.)

Importing An Engine From Japan
IOWNU replied to IOWNU's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
Hey mate, My Uncle lives in Japan so I often get cars etc. Firstly i purchased the engine for about 260,000 YEN FOB. That was an R34 RB26 engine with 68,000 kms on it......bargain if you ask me. First time getting an engine so not sure as to the freight procedure yet...hopefully find out today or tommorow. I'll update this thread when I have further info. Peace. Ali
