  1. haha that's what i meant, see how it goes with the mechanic. I assumed from the start that I might need a full rebuild, but mechanic is a mate and is honeslty trying to save money........as much as I appreciate it, i think i'd rather not risk it.

Now if I were to get an exemption, I'm set. I'm happy, insurance company is happy. Yay! I'm gonna ring Vicroads 2moro for the specifics........*jumps up and down*

  6. Hey guys, Well recently I posted some info about my turbos dying, followed by the engine. Engine was opened up recently, and I took some pics on my Mob, exhaust valves are smashed, hence the 0 compression. Judging from the damage, the mechanic reckons its just the head that is gone, and the bottom MAY or MAY NOT be functional. He's getting the head reconditioned and may choose to "gamble" and put the head back onto the same bottom......for some reason that doesn't sound entirely correct to me. Anyways, this is for the tech gurus on SAU, judging from the pics, is it likely that the bottom end is gone? Or should the head just be replaced on its own. Prior to engine failure there was NO TAPPING bottom end sound, engine just seized, and refused to start. Thanx in advance, Ali. PICS:

  8. LoL....let's hope I don't crash then. Ok then ppl, what's the solution? P Platers aren't going to stop driving cars over the limit, P platers are going to want insurance. Please explain. Also how often do insurance companies refuse to pay out in situations like this? I've never heard of it happening to someone I know before.

  10. 1: If they chased me, I own nothing, and even if I do, i technically don't if you get my jist. 2: Yeah police would rock up.....but we all know how long they take! My had his car writted off from behind, by the time the cops came, everything was sorted. 3: I said, if he were to take the INSURANCE company to court he'd loose. If he were to take me to court, sure, I'd have to pay, as I said, 5 bux a week. LoL...BTW i'm not some pov uni student on the dole.....this is just a hypothetical situation, that most unlikely to occur. And correct me if I'm wrong, but my mate with his 180 crashed in the REAL WORLD, he had insurance on his old mans name, so his "old man" crashed, and he got his payout. Did u just watch the matrix or something? Get over the real world stuff Neo. I may be young, but I know how stuff works. EDIT: Also, I'd give my own lisence details as well, as well as some sort of insurance that I wouldn't pull a runner.
  11. I think the insurance companies are in the wrong, they KNOW the cars are being driven illegally, so they take advantage of this. My accident "plan" is merely a means to claim what is rightfully mine, or what I am mislead to believe that is rightfully mine, i.e insurance. BTW, $5 a week is assuming you have no insurance, if you had insurance, I'm sure you'd be covered.
  12. Hypothetically speaking, lets say myself and you were involved in an accident, lets say i was at fault and I bang up your car pretty bad. Now, after explaining the situation, you could either accept or reject. You have clearly stated that you would reject, so i say fine, here are a my details. Now, the insurance company rips out the clause, insurance is void, you don't get paid, you could go to court, but you'd loose, as there was NO COVER in the first place. Now lets assume I'm a pov uni student........that's 5 bux a week for you, for the next 20 years lol. Most people AREN'T like you. I'd hope so anyway!
  13. hah beat me to it. I would suggest most ppl would be willing to understand. I would say somthing along the lines "You want the car fixed? Yes, then I am so and so, NO? Then i am who i am." Pretty easy choice if you ask me, mate has already had a crash and the person who was involved in the accident was cool, so long as he got his car fixed. So, I would say that you are in the minority, being one who would "dob" me in. See....I am smarter than the insurance company.

As a P plater driver whos owned a number of imports over the legal power to weight ration, I knew of this possibility and in the event that i smack my GTR (hope that day never comes) i'll walk out of the car, tell the driver of the other car that if they want some money, my name is "Bla bla bla" and I am "x" years old etc, and if i were to hit into an object or pole, well that isn't to difficult to get around. Insurance companies are shifty, so you should behave accordingly, to make sure that you get rightfully paid and not cheated on a mere technicality.

  18. Hey eveyone, Well I'm going to get my car resprayed soon, so I was just wondering if there are any websites with different colours that you can use, or if anyone has some pics of nice colours? I'm basically after something that stands out, wouldn't mind those wet look, metallic, or two-tone paints (chameleon) Thanks, Ali

  20. true.......umm i can't remember the part in fast and furious where a guy dies and everyone starts running around in a frenzy, crying. Def. over excited, my guess is that they were a bunch of P Platers who've had their lisence for less than a month. Meh. At least that guy won't be pulling his handbrake anytime soon.
  21. Relating to this issue....did anyone watch 10 late news last night? After the WC v Sydney game. A magistrate relased a video that these idiots took, doing Burnouts etc, before one of the Holden drivers took a corner very fast, pulled the handbrake and went into a tree, killing his best mate. All of a sudden you see all the boys screaming like girls, panicking, with their best mate dead against a tree. The guy got jailtime. Mainly holdens, but there was an R32 GTST as well, although it wasn't doing burnouts, just speeding. I belive it was in some NSW country town.

  23. I've had 3 GTRs since the 15yo rule came into play for the 89 models. q1: First one was immac. 80,000kms, engine purred, turbos were fine, gearbox etc. Perfect. Sold it, coz i got greedy. Second one. Came with rattly bottom end. I only paid half the amount of the car and didn't pay the rest. Fixed it, sold it again, coz i got a decent offer. about 90,000kms Third one, recently landed (1990 model, same thing). Came with blown turbos......installed n1 turbos, then the engine died before they were even full operative. On the plus side, im now getting a full engine rebuild, with n1 turbos should make some good power. 88,000kms q2 2 of the 3 were NOT in the condition specified, i.e blown turbos, engine etc. Both needed work to get up to scratch. q3: However, I have made financial deductions to compensate from the exporter, so have not gone over cost as such. Hence, financially im still on top. q4 The first GTR, kms were def. genuine. Am spewin about selling it. The second seemed to be shady due to the rough interior. Third one, seems genuine, but who knows. q5 Well, trash depends on the auction grade. I reckon most GTRs that were 3 or 3.5 auction grade ended up being the crap ones. Yeah I'm sure there is the odd bargain GTR out there, but finding it is another thing! I suppose at the end of the day, GTR ownership is never going to be cheap and we as enthusiasts have to accept that. Sure, it hurts spending money on fixing a car, but boy do I have a grin from ear to ear when they are up and running. Not long now.....
  24. ahahah....so true. Well the one I had before last didn't blow up, it was an 89 model. I'd get an R33 GTR but don't like the shape that much........can't afford an R34 GTR.....yet.
