cat

How fast should the car be travelling when you turn it back on?
-
Yeah, but you could just say it is probably faulty, which you would simply have to get fixed, rather than not having one altogether and getting screwed. By the time they conduct a proper check, the matter will be long gone.
-
I think the logic there is in terms of numbers, if all street cars were not forced to have cats, there would be a massive increase in pollution, as compared to say, a few race cars.
-
Thought so, very difficult to tell if it is gutted, because it would require them (EPA) to open up the cat, which they can't exactly do when they have you pulled over.
-
But wouldn't they have to call you somewhere (as they cant physically prove that your cat is gutted, unless the open it up) to inspect it and by then, you could put a legit cat on it?
-
How can they find out if you have a gutted cat?

GTST r34 rwd to GT-R 4wd r34 conversion
IOWNU replied to scuzzya's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
CLARIFICATION: In my previous post i meant SOME of the major differences between a GTR and GT-T that is, difference between a GTS-4 and a GTST is the engine (has a front diff, i.e different sump although this is interchangeable with a regular RB20) and the AWD. -
GTST r34 rwd to GT-R 4wd r34 conversion
IOWNU replied to scuzzya's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
It's GT-T R34, i'm not sure about R34s, but the R32s and R33s came out in a GTS-4 (AWD GTST) version. Main difference is ofcourse, the RB26 engine, AWD system, Body shape and materials..... -
Compliance Time
IOWNU replied to madmurf's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
I don't think there is a time limit.....but with these new laws...I have no idea. Worst comes worst, you'd have to comply/register by January 2006 at the earliest (that's when the new importation laws are enforced) don't know how that will effect compliance regulations... One of my mates has an early model 89 model GTR in his garage, still hasn't complied or registered. I know there no exact time frame that is given once the car is in Australia. -
Also: QUOTE: An LS2 in a GTR, would be more suited than an RB26DETT in a GTR this is because, The LS2 is shorter and sits lower in the engine bay (no OHC remember?) therefore IMPROVING the weight distribution of the car. And on top of all of that it only weighs about 5-10 kg's more than the RB (easily made up because there's no intercooler on the LS2). But like I said, because the weight is further back and lower it's actually better. And, unlike the RB it doesn't have that torque hole below 3000rpm before the turbo's boost up. It makes virtually all of it's torque from idle to redline. And let's not even talk about NA vs turbo throttle response. END QUOTE

How do you guys find this statement, I found on another forum, comparing the LS2 and RB26DETT, most people claim that the LS2 is better than an RB26, heres the post: QUOTE: anyway, back to the engines themselves: the RB26DETT and LS2 are internal combusties... and when all is said and done, sorry nissan folk, but the LS2 has more "quote, unquote" - POTENTIAL. It's bigger. It has more cylinders. It is a larger air compressor. When it comes down to it, that's the balls of it buddies. How much air can you push thru that motor. The LS2, after strapping on the induction aids like turbos and superchargers, will push MORE AIR than an RB26DETT. It's BIGGER for goodness sakes! Almost 3 friggin times the displacement! Sure its got a lower RPM range, but thats mainly because its BIGGER! My electric toothbrush revs out to 15,000 rpm.... not because it is a feat of engineering excellence, but because the thing is bloody 1 cm wide! And again, the 25,000hp engine powering an oceanliner is lucky to get 8rpm... because it is the size of a small building. It's all relative. The Nissan Skyline GT-R wins because it is a smart package with an adequate drivetrain - by adequate I mean its strong enough to do the job and it has good aftermarket support. PERIOD. The LS1 and LS2, by itself, when comparing it to the "engine only" RB26DETT, will be superior since its nigh on 6 litres of air-pushing power every 4 strokes. So if you want to win a battle on paper then sure, the LS2 has more potential. But of course that is just stating the obvious. Question: Which air compressor has more potential? Answer: Duh.... umm.... the BIGGER air compressor?! CAPTAIN FRIGGIN OBVIOUS TO THE RESCUE AGAIN! END QUOTE

I'm in the exact same position as you Lang! Although I'm off-loading my RX7 for an sr20 180sx X-Type, hopefully, this week. For me, the 7 was a fun, quick, sidways car. Love the way it looks from the front, hate the back (series 5) Lang is spot on, they drink! Also I have found that they are very high maintenance, so cbs with it anymore. BUT, they have very high modification potential, hence their popularity and I suppose there's something about a rotary engine that draws people towards it, that I just can't put my finger on.

Hmmm, this is a good recall of my Intro to Law unit @ uni..... No, the elected parliament should NOT be the sole makers of law in the Australian legal system. In a very concise nutshell...... There are a number of reasons for this. Firstly, in relation to the seperation of powers. The seperation of powers is necessary to insure the existance of an equal and democratic society, hence, to place 'absolute power' in the hands of politicians (of all people!) would mostly result in laws being passed, against the will of the general public, leading to corruption, misrepresentation, misfeasence of public office etc..... It is necessary for more than one of the executive bodies to be involved in the law-making process, more importantly, the judiciary. The judiciary provide legal insight into problems and their knowledge of the law, should allow them to come to a sound decision in relation to public legal matters. I suppose, in the end, the saying hold true that "absolute power corrupts absolutely" thus to avoid such consequences, it is necessary to observe a general 'spread' in power, in order to maintain a system of law that is both efficient and effective. If you're writing some sort of an essay, I'd elaborate on the aforementioned concepts...... Hope that helps........man I'm so bored, had nothing better to do at 12.15am on a Wednesday night (thursday morning)

FS:R32 GTS4 (awd) Turbo 5sp $11,700 Neg.
IOWNU replied to IOWNU's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
For the car, with compliance, cost is $11,500. Add shipping cost to that.....i have no idea. -
Current price for compliance.
IOWNU replied to Paradizzle's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
To the best of my knowledge yes (That price is including tyres btw.) The guys name is Nandi. But you have to remember that you may incur some additional costs, for example, depending on how 'standard' your car is. If its modified, you need to pay labour to swap for stock parts, register it, then swap em back once the car is registered. -

LoL, I'm not saying he's not entitled to his opinion....I'm just saying it's wrong. Anyway CBS anymore.....so yeah, let it drop.
-
Mainly importers, but due to the massive influx of R32 GTRs the price has dropped significantly......so there would be a fair few private sellers that need money urgently, off-loading their GTRs at a low price. Mind you, expect prices to jump back up considerably by the time the year is out, following the new SEVS rules.
-
So basically, you're saying that an R33 is not disadvantaged in terms of launch, when compared to a WRX........sorry mate but that's a crock.....

If you're willing to come to Melbourne you could pick up a cheap, 89 model for low 20s.
