R33 as a weekend track racer. Any good?
IOWNU replied to CrazyNuts's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
hmmm i reckon the S3 Rx7s are too old, not practical as a daily driver.... -

it must have been a GTR in that case as a GTST would be very similar to a WRX (assuming that it wasn't an STi) Or could have been a modified GTST...... -

Considering that a daily driver is your first preference, I think the R33 is a good choice (GTR or GTST?) I remember reading somewhere that "A GTR is a track car, you can drive on the roads, whereas a GTST is a street car, that you can take to the track." But overall, I can't see y ppl have tried to deter you from purchasing an R33 -
That's real bright LoL Tell him that you want them badly so he puts the price up further. I'm sure you can find another source for em.

Thanx man for the help. I told him to sus out the plugs. How much would a new set of plugs cost?
-
Yep its high frequency popping. Also, i forgot to mention the car tends to stall in neutral or at low revs. Once the car is stalled, its hard to start again....i.e it doesn't start first time....takes a few attempts before it starts.
-
Yeah it is, i just say GTST (AWD) coz a lot of ppl get it confused with the 4 dour GTSTs.....
-
Thanx i've forwarded the information. Also, at high revs it literally sounds like something is 'sparking' kinda like fireworks, followed by smoke coming out the exhaust. IF YOu hammer it in first, it goes alright, just a bit of backfire, but in second, its bad, backfires and hesitates, doesn't go anywhere.

Hey guys, My cousin got a GTST R32 recently from Japan, with a buggered engine. Recently, he bought a second hand engine and put it in the car. Car is a 1990 model R32 GTST (AWD) Manual. The problem: If you drive the car normally, it drives fine. Very smooth, turbo spools well, car accelerates adequately. However, when you accelearte hard, it hesitates, backfires at high revs. ANy1 can help?

They're friggen cops. They deserve that name. I got done by a parking inspector today for parking in my own bloody driveway.....anyways to the matter at hand: 1: A police may record any conversation he is a party to. 2: A civilian may record any conversation they are a party to. 3: You do not have to answer an police questioning, besides your name, details etc. 4: Police cannot search your car unless they are searching for a weapon or radar detector, or have reason to believe that you have a radar detector or weapon. They can use abusive language, that is legal, but cannot assault you (create an imminent sense of danger or harm.) Its handy (particulalry) for us Skyline drivers to carry some sort of recording device, for future reference . Guys remember, that when you get pulled over, it is essential that you remain calm and polite at all times. Make sure you answer as little as possible, query the police officer of his judgement, for example, in this case where he said the car was too low, you should have asked him to measure it accurately as the law permits 10cm clearance and so on. Keep a cool head, think smart and the cop will leave you alone. In terms of speeding and other infringements etc, the cop will first try and gain an admission. "Why were you speeding?" Any sort of answer to that question proves your guilt. The best answer being "I wasn't" or NO REPLY. If you have a moody, abusive cop, first respond politely. If he still continues, that's when you rip out the attitude. So long as you can back yourself up, you're set. Damn I love the Criminal Procedure unit @ Uni. After exams I think I might write up exact details and laws people can refer to in relation to Police Powers in Victoria and post them on this forum......just because most cops are drainers and I hate them. I'd love to see the look on a cops face when you give them the name of the act, section and sub-section that governs the exact act that they are engaging in!

Hey man, I imported mine myself from Japan. My uncle lives in Japan, so time to time I have a few cars coming in.....its really kind of a hobby of mine, since I got my Ls when I was 16, i've had a R33 GTS, R32 GTST, R33 GTST, 180sx and now I have a R32 GTR and RX7. So for me, it was just finding a cheap car in Japan. Ofcourse, I had been in mates skylines etc to get a feel for the car. If i were you I would test drive a few different examples, to see which one your prefer.
-
Sounds alrite. You could probably get 1 cheaper of an importer, there are heaps in Melbourne, I'd say the R33 GTST is just about the most common car imported from japan at the moment. Also, before you buy this thread will end up being extremely useful: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=35129

Spotted a silver stagea, on Taylors Rd, going toward Keilor Downs in Melbourne. Had personalised pl8z, white on black. I won't spell out the exact plates, to respect the owners privacy, but they had the word Nissan abbriviated in it along with something else. Never really been in2 Stageas.........they look nice! Good, practical (dunno about economy though) family car. I'm trying to convince my mum 2 buy 1.......I almost made her buy a chaser but i think stagea is the go!

Maybe could have been a GTS?

NSW BANEDS ALL P PLATERS IN TURBOS JULY 2rd
IOWNU replied to scottman's topic in General Automotive Discussion
From a governments point of view (which I don't support btw) I think these rules would be more effective, because it instantly rules out cars that are considered dangerous. I mean i've been pulled over stacks of times.....the power to weight ratio has never come up (I don't won't to jinx myself.) and I drive a 32 GTR on my Ps. Whereas now in NSW, a turbo car will instantly be prohibited. Although...I still think these new regulations are far-fetched and that Australia is the most over-regulated country in the world.... -
NSW BANEDS ALL P PLATERS IN TURBOS JULY 2rd
IOWNU replied to scottman's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Damn that's harsh. By the sound of things, its game over for NSW P Platers. You might want to find out where the daily telegraph head office is . I hope Mr.Bracks and Co don't follow suit! -
Ofcourse you do.....what sort of Skyline do you drive? LoL
-
I'm going to start coming to track days in the near future, not this sunday though coz i've got exams the following week  I think most people wont pay attention to the driver (no matter how bad he is ;-)) of a Purple GTR, they'd just be looking at the car :drooling:
-
I prefer a R34 GTR, I can't afford that? LoL. No excuses though? Hopefully down the track. Honestly speaking, I could have purchased an R33 GTR but stuck with a late model R32, personal preference. Although I have a soft spot for the midnight purple GTRs, that's my favourite (factory) skyline colour of all. Hmm I wouldn't mind getting into track racing, but only when I'm older and can afford to run and maintain a car on my own, without relying on my dad's money...LoL Anyways this is getting ......go the GTR over the GTT..that should get things back on track.

You should be able to pick up a series 2 for around 18k. Get a series 1 if you want some cash left over for mods. Not sure about the fuel, I just know that the premium stuff from anywhere is pretty good....except for optimax apparently?
-
LoL.....just because you're old (you started it) doesn't make you right. The R32 GTR has quicker 0-100 and 1/4 mile times. It's a fact, don't like it? Bad luck. You can't change that. I'm not sure about track times, I'm not really into track racing. Maybe someone else can help out? Maybe in your opinion the track counts more, I prefer drag times. That really comes down to personal preference. I never said the 32 GTR is better than the 33 GTR, I like both cars, and personally, I think the R32 drives better, it feels more agile, in terms of looks....most people prefer the 32, need I refer to some recent polls? However, I do agree with you on one point, that being, that the R34 GTR owns it.

The R32 GTR is faster than the R33 GTR. :uh-huh:
