yeah it is cheap..... The second best quote i got was for $2800, some1 in cambellfield. I asked Nismo (they're actually called NISMA) in Sunshine, he wanted 4g. I suppose reputation costs as well. But its still better than buying an RB26 of a wrecker, and just swapping the engines over, as you don't know when it will go BANG, and the cheapest one i could find was for 4.5g with only 2 months warranty, where as with the rebuild im getting 12months. The main mechanic there has rebuilt his own R32 and 200sx s14, plus heaps of others. He's got the experience. I'm not sure whether he's built a RB26 though :S I assume he has.

He just said go "normally" i.e no redlining, no boost, no excessive acceleration. ANyways Mineral oils it is. I think i'll go to the Grampians, nice up and down driving there, pretty far away too. Hmm.....that IS a long run in....but obviously acheived gr8 results. I'm a bit confused know though as whether to use mineral oils, or synthetic oils :-S

Look, a time machine! LoLz....how much would it cost to use the dyno? What i also meant to ask is....once the engine is rebuilt, properly, if i pik it up from the workshop and "thrash" it...will it go bang again? As you said some ppl say thrash it nice, i assume no?

Hey guys, I'm getting a rebuild done on my RB26 and just needed some info on the run-in period. (Yes i tried searching!) What are the do's and don'ts during this run in period, and generally how long/how many kms does should it last...my mechanic suggested "normal" driving for at least a month! I'm assuming I will have less power for a while....and the car will feel a lot rougher. Anyways any info would be gr8. Thanx Ali

THanks heaps warren! Prasanna has a GTS4 engine......he wants $1350 for it with 2 months warranty on startup, plus I have to pay my mechanic 500 dollars labour to fit and remove, all up costs me $1850, and i can't be bothered running in the engine as I'm selling......so im very happy. Cheers.

Hey guys....i need some info about rebuilding engines. Issue 1: Recently I spoke to my mechanic about my broken RB20 engine in my R32 GTS4-T. As a GTS4 Rb20 is very hard 2 come by in melb at the moment (front diff, different sump and dont wanna change the sumps either) he suggested a rebuild. He said all up i'm looking at 2 grand. Firstly...how's that price wise? Secondly...he said something about not "thrashing it" for at least a month....and drive it "normally" (as in how my Dad drives @ low revs). Does that sound right? Issue 2: I also spoke to him about my R32 GTR.....same scenario. Engines gone, and he wants $2000 to rebuild it, and again, drive "normally" for at least a month. Any help would be appreciated Thanx. Hi, I need a RB20 engine for a R32 GTS4-T. It's dif. 2 a standard RB20 coz its got a Front Diff in the sump..i.e different sump. In mlebourne. Cheers.

But isn't the RB20 a 4 cylinder also? I just think the RB20 sounds better coz of the way its designed. 'Race Bred'

LoL! Exactly. I don't think that one line was meant to be an attack on Skylines. Besides, the whole media against Skylines things is mainly based on the imports, with shiny rims, bodykits and massive frountmount intercoolers, NOT innocent R31s!!
