  1. I've got a RB20DET Crank Angle Sensor (ie CAS).. Is that what you are after? ps. This is a CAS: And this is a CAS in action - front of engine (bottom of pic)
  2. This is how you can imagine it works - look at the second picture here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polarizer Basically lots of light coming from all directions - CPL cuts it out and only lets light from a certain direction come through. Rotating it changes this direction. (direction might not be the best word here but you get the idea) Back in April 2008 when I bought my first CPL I got it for better colours and cool looking sky's Here are four sample pics I took (None of them have any PP done)
  3. I like how you guys make glare and reflections sound like totally different things
  4. Erm... CPL DOES cut out the reflections.
  5. Agree with Sid - would love to see bigger versions. CPL = Circular Polarising Filter And I can't comment if it would actually make car shots better IMO awesome car shots DO have reflections. Trick is to not have crappy stuff IN the reflections lol
  6. erm... a way of thinking about it is that a circular polariser has two pieces of tinted glass the back is fixed and screwed onto the lens - the other can rotate as you rotate it either cuts out or lets through light coming from different angles (due to the way they are overlapping) Do you have one? (I'm sure there would be a good article explaining it somewhere but dont have to time to find one atm)
  7. Not really one of those people you are asking but yeah CPLs cut lots of reflections! You can just rotate it around and see through the viewfinder how the image changes
  8. Cool shot Sam!
  9. Irfanview is good and free Just open the photo in that and press Ctrl+R (for the resize/resample image dialog) Then type in how many pixels you want the image to be wide e.g. 800 (leaving other settings as default) and press Enter Then Ctrl+S to save
  10. Nice pic mate! me and some work friends are gonna start playing in a comp soon actually! (p.s. might want to make it a little smaller next time before sharing)
  11. As for ISO - yeah I did that once! Took photo's for an hour before I realised I had ISO on 3200 from some testing last time!! As for screen for seeing OOF areas.. yeah you're never going to be able to buy one big enough I'm afraid - only way is to zoom in on the little screen three (or maybe 4) times and then check Yeah I've got one of those - use it for night time shooting but during the day I still find myself using the timer instead
  12. Thanks man I should really clone out the city cat light on the left (the red line)
  13. Ah yeah - I've got a D80 so know what you mean!! Another tip - If you have a tripod (like the reflection shows!) just fix the ISO to 100 or 200 and just do a longer exposure to make up for it. Also try using the timer (I do it all the time) so you're not touching the camera at all when it starts the shot
  14. Week 17 Photo Joel Berkley http://www.flickr.com/photos/zennondamant/4553306993/in/set-72157623563424194/ Took this shot at Archerfield International Speedway. Was hard to shoot in these conditions with the D80, due to bad light and fast moving objects. Shot this with my second hand Sigma 70-200mm 2.8 lens (which I suspect might have a back focussing issue). Was very happy with how it came out all things considered. Exposure: 0.017 sec (1/60) Aperture: f/2.8 Focal Length: 70 mm ISO Speed: 720
  15. Week 16 Photo Brisbane Sunset http://www.flickr.com/photos/zennondamant/4530001154/in/set-72157623563424194/ Sunset behind Brisbane city, taken from Kangaroo Point side of the Brisbane river in Queensland. Photo made up from three photos taken at three exposures Tone Mapped in Photomatix Pro 3.0. Some final adjustments were made using Lightroom 2 and Picasa 3. Exposure: 30 Aperture: f/6.3 Focal Length: 10 mm ISO Speed: 100
  16. Week 15 Photo Curtis Falls http://www.flickr.com/photos/zennondamant/4507767374/in/set-72157623563424194/ Went to Tamborine National Park on Easter Monday as we had a public holiday in Queensland. This is a photo of Curtis Falls in Joalah section as seen from the Curtis Falls track. The creek is called Cedar Creek. Exposure: 0.4 Aperture: f/9.0 Focal Length: 18 mm ISO Speed: 100
  17. Another two from Archerfield
  18. Lepperfish nice shots - first one is my favourite (first one with location of third one would have been perfect )
  19. First one is my favourite. Focus seems a little off.. I'd suggest taking a small LED torch to help camera focus when shooting at night time P.s. Those wheels rock!
  20. Two shots from Archerfield Speedway taken last weekend:
  21. Ah crap you're right! A MALE model - what is the world coming to!
