  3. does ur car have pod and fmic? if it has 1 of these then its ok. a cold air box isnt creally considered a mod unless ur the cops. i got 1 and i went epa with it, they said it was cool. and coz it was a box (enclosed) and my pod was in there with fmic, that was ok too. cops dont know shit, they just after bronie points!! hope that helps
  4. chop mat is strands of fibreglass that is pressed together in no definite pattern. sand only the cracks on the front but also a little around the area of the crack so the fibreglass sticks. with the back just line it up again. the mat goes on top of the crack on the groove u sand. fill the groove with about 3 layers of 200 grade or 2 or 400 grade mat. speak to a fibreglassing joint to see what the stuff looks like. they might even give u some. you'll only need like a 500x500mm square of it. this also goes behind the crack. a surface scuff with scotch brite pad is only needed on the back. so just to clarify, place mat behind and infront of the crack, like it was bread and the crack was butter and ham, (sandwhich). hope this helps
  5. not really hard to fix that damage and prep it to be sprayed. easiest way is to use a sander and firstly sand the areas shown in this picture, use and orbital and basically make a shallow groove where the crack is. then coz the cracks at the front really would be a waste of time to fibreglass them, go to a car paint retailer like paint spot, and buy a 500g tub of car BOG. apply the bog of these sanded areas and a bit extra over the lip area and let it set. sand it back to blend in with bumper and done. if u make a mistake with the bog and sand too much dont stress, add some more on and sand again. to check if the sanding isnt visible, buy a can of white undercoat in a can and apply to the bog. if u cant see it, or can maybe just see it, job done for there. on the other crack under the bar is where i would apply fibreglass. its more of a structural strengthened area that if not repaired well will re-surface. using a polyester resin (available and any fibreglass retailer), apply this to some 200 or 400 weight chop mat (again available from where u get your resin), about 3 layers of mat should do it, place the mat on some plastic and using a scotch brite pad (this part can be done b4 or after u apply the resin), and scuff up the area around the crack. i would also maybe hit it with the orbital again. lay the glass into the crack 1 layer at a time and once the pieces are in wet out the mat. by wetting out, i mean put extra resin on the area. allow to dry and done. no need to do any more repair at the bottom. do note that the bottom repair should be about 50mm around the whole of the crack to stop further cracking. if u have anymore questions let me know or feel free to give a call. 04230089477 cheers daniel
  6. hey im up in sydney occassionally at Boeing-Hawker DeHavilland's facility in Bankstown. Next time i come to syd ill pm u. im usually there for a week or 2 so ill have time to help out if i can.
  7. i have a 3.5" kakimoto cat back. stock cat, front pipe and dump. turbo is running 7psi (used the solenoid grounding mod on it). the silencer sits right back into the exhaust almost invisible as it it a piece of pipe with a welded flat circle so its hard to see it. thanks for the advice guys. think its just easier to put stocky zorst back on, pass the car and then just always run the silencer to stop cops picking on it all the time. just 2 add, this will be my 3rd visit there, first 2 for pod and cooler conflicts.
  8. dngrus - thanks but not what im after sxc_r33 - what does that bar look like? coul you post a picture?
  9. pics of gutter rash man so we can see damage? also are u prepared to post to melb?
  10. ok heres the trick, where are u located? shoot a pm my way and if ur in melb i can give u a hand. i work with this shit all day so know what i am doing. 1. to tell if it fibreglass: to tell if it is, just look at the attached picture. this is what fibreglass should look like and if that isnt enough, when u cut it, you should be able to see strands of fibre that are damaged at the edge. 2. does is matter if its glass or plastic: sure it does, as the 2 differnet materials use 2 different bonding agents to rejoin the halves. if its glass then all you'll need to use is a polyester resin which can be purchased from a company called FGI. its a 2 part resin that you mix apply to both parts and place together to bond, curing is overnight so dont rush it. 3. filling the gap is easy, there is many different products. if its glass speak to the ppl at FGI they can provide you with a filler designed for f/g or if u in melb i can provide you with an aircraft grade body filler. up to you. any q's pm me. also if u pm me questions, attach a pic so i can give you a more detailed response. Daniel
  11. hey mate where u from? if in melb shoot me a pm and ill give u a hand to repair. i work in the aircraft industry, but specialise in repairs of carbon fibre / fibreglass panels. let me know if u need a hand daniel
  12. hey guys just want some opinions on how i can quiten my exhaust without having to change to standard so that it passes the epa test for noise pollution? i've had it tested by 1 of their recommended repairers and it came in at 100dB. i put my modified silenceer in and it went down to 93dB.
