G'Day guys, I am about to get the 100k service on my 1990 R32 GTR done. It is going to be done by Ferntree Gully Nissan (Melb). I am pretty much supplying all parts, they are just doing the labour (mianly bcoz I have no time with work atm). The parts I have currently: -Gates timing belt -Gates radiator hose kit (top and bottom) -Genuine Nissan Water Pump -Genuine Nissan Thermostat -Genuine Nissan Fuel Filter -Genuine Nissan Cam Seals -Genuine Nissan Crank Seals -Idler Pulley -Tensioner assembly -Drive belts -NGK spark plugs -Oil Filter -Motul Turbolight 4100 oil -Castor rod bushes (my current ones need replacing) Basically all the Nissan dealership is doing is putting in all these parts, along with a 100k service checklist and they are only supplying the coolant. Anything that I have missed guys? Trying to get as much done at the same time as I can. Thanks for your help. Cheers, Dan

FAQ: Cheap NSK Idler and Tensioner Bearings location
JonesyGTR replied to benl1981's topic in New South Wales
Does anyone know if the bearings assemblies are the same for the RB26? The RB25 ones? Bearing Industries thought they might be, but were not sure. Just want to confirm before I purchase. Cheers, Dan -
Your problem is going to be different brands of tyres, from my experience. HAve a quick vsual inspection from a distance. See if they look different. Otherwise, measure them up on flat ground. I measured from top of tyre to where is hits the ground, it was a little different. Even if its fairly minimal, that will be your prob. Try front to rear swap. Cheers. Dan

Ok guys, My problem is solved! Here is what was wrong: The front tyres were Dunlop 3000's - 17 inch. The rear were Kumho Ecsta's - also 17 inch. However. the Kumho's are slightly larger. Swapped the fronts to the rears and now works perfectly! Saved $400 for two new tyres! I hope this is useful to others in the future! Cheers, Dan

Thanks for the helpful input guys, this is what I have found so far: With 4WD fuse out the car reads 0 (as you would expect). The tyres are all 17's HOWEVER, they are differing brands with, you guessed it, slightly different diameters. So know I am going to try and get two changed to the same size, or put 4 tyres the same on to test. The smaller ones are at the rear. If I put them to the front, would that help/change the situation? Cheers guys, I keep you updated on progress. Dan

Where abouts does the needle on the ones you have been in sit when you are cruising at highway speeds? Dan

If it is not normal, and I am to assume that there is a fault with something on my car (ie sensor mounted incorrectly) what is the best way to confirm this? Can you help as to where the sensor is and how it should look/be mounted? Or perhaps someone/somewhere that would know? Thanks in advance, Dan

When I am cruising, my torque gauge always reads that there is some split to the front as well. If you accelerate, the amount becomes more. I was under the impression that this was meant to be the case. Can anyone confirm this, or set the record straight? My tyre's are all equal - not differing sizes. Cheers, Dan

Hey guys, I have the same problem as Kribside. I have checked the voltage that is being output, both over 13.5 (TT on and off). Any other possibilities? I ahve checked the battery and connections, all nice and tight and clean. Cheers, Dan

R32 Gearbox/transfer Case Noise
JonesyGTR replied to JonesyGTR's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Yeah my 4WD works fine, no issues at all. The car drives like normal all the time. I am thinking that it may just be low fluid, but not sure. Any ideas? -
Hi everyone, My 32 GTR has a noise that sounds like its from the front diff/transfer case. It almost sounds like its coming out of the air con. When I idle, or move slowly, with no load on engine or gearbox, it makes a 'turning' noise. Once the torque goes up and I am over about 20kph the sound disappears. No other symptoms. Drives fine, even under heavy load. My mechanic is going to check it out, but just after some ideas/tips/pointers. Cheers, Dan

G'Day guys, My R32 GTR is due for its 100k service. I have read up most of the 100k threads in here, but still it doesnt all make sense. For example, people seem to say the water pump needs replacing. While I can see the logic in this, the service departments at 2 Nissan Dealers have told me they don't recommend it, nor have they done it on a R32 100k service before. Can some people please post (places in Melb, located near Tullamarine airport) places that they have had their 100k service done, what was done and what is MEANT to be done at 100k service. A price would also be apprciated. The quotes I have got, although the level of things changed varies, has been between $400 and $950 so far. Thanks guys, Dan

Chris, I have seen you mentioned plenty on here! If you can help me at all - or point me to someone good - it would be much appreciated. Cheers

G'Day guys, I need to get an alarm installed into my 32 GTR. Can you please recommend people/companies that you have had positive dealings with? Also, what options/alarms do you recommend? I was thinking along these lines (let me know what you think i should add etc): 3-point (min) immobiliser Battery backup entry point detection valet switch (for mechanics etc) possibly a keypad (anti carjacking) I see that a lot of people on here recommend certain users to speak to and get numbers/advice etc, but thought it was polite to ask first . . . I am in the North East of Melbourne and would like someone who can give me a letter/receipt stating what alarm options are fitted (for insurance). Lastly guys, what price is fair for the parts i have mentioned, or the parts that i forgot? Cheers, Dan
