To give you an idea on the Jazz, leaving Wollongong, up Mt Ousley, Across Picton, down the Hume to Canberra, and return, takes one take of fuel and averages 6.3L per 100KM ringing its little tit off at around 110KM/H the whole way (Not letting it cruise up the hills and lose speed... Giving it the shuffle back and getting up it) It takes me around 35 - 38 Litres for that trip. Around town (I live in Wollongong CBD, so often drive on the cold fuel map for most of my trips) I see 7 - 7.5L per 100KM, and that's having a fair bit of fun in it (Revving out to 5500RPM each gear basically with a fair bit of throttle) I HAVE had my old Jazz as low as 5.3L /100KM, but that was keeping it sitting on 80KM/H on the freeways etc. When I lived in Shell Cove, I regularly saw 6.0L flat per 100KM because to and from work was all smack on 80KM/H.

+1 to the Honda Jazz.

I'll get Shell to check for you Adam. I'll email everyone by Wednesday with a confirmation of who I've got payments for etc.

BUMPED! The route has been modified slightly from the above, as mentioned above part of it went to dirt. This is still on, let us know if you're coming.

I *might* have an AFM floating around, I'll try get out to my Dad's house and have a look and see if I do still have it. -
Hey Jarrad, I remember getting the form, and noting you, I can't remember if I've confirmed payment, but will be all good. Cee, there are still spots. Eric, I also got your work mates form.

Where is your O2 sensor, and where was the Dyno one? You will get a different reading between reading in the dump Pipe, VS after the Cat

Hi Tim, You should have gotten an email back from me saying it was. I remember seeing your name and payment.

I completely understand people are taking ideas from other areas and re-using them. And it's awesome to see some of the wild ideas people can think of to combo stuff together to make it work. If I had the coin, I'd be continuing with my car to chase the top gun people, but sadly, I don't have the coin, nor the talent to pilot a car that quick (And I don't like handing keys over too quickly ) I do like the freedoom of things, and what people are getting away with, all I mentioned was maybe some people should try some manufacturers backed type things to see if we can break the laws of physics... Imagine if a manufacturer stood behind Tarzan... He'd be even further in front with new stuff being developed specifically developed for racing, of which, we'd likely see in a road car in 10 years time... (New types of boxes diffs etc) I'm not putting down what the teams are doing in terms of building there cars, I'm simply saying they're using a heap of knowledge, and adapting elements from other areas into going fast.

From street car to track car... All you need is the driver to get it there. Serious. There are differences from a standard car at a basic track level through to all out race cars like V8 SuperCars which are built only as a race car.

You thought Charlies went somewhere else? LOL I think I'm going to hell for picking on FapDrew...
-
I'm going to a strip joint... Where I'll be paying $1 to watch Chubbs and FapDrew rub each other out...
-
Because we have some spots left, we will be accepting entries up until Thursday 18th of August via internet banking, and if there are still spots left, we will take cash on the day.
-
There definitely still is a few spots left, although 2 less after today!

I don't think this is an argument about if school zones are good or not. For those who don't know, it's a road that is 3 lanes each way, with no driveways in this section (There are further up the road though) Still, 130 is freaking stupid, it's still 50 over the normal limit.

I think you completely missed the point of my comment. Things LIKE AYC and DSG were developed, to make things quicker... In the old days, we had lil ol' engines that only put out a few HP, through technology they've built better head designs, better valvetrain designs, tried engine designs like the Wankel, new gearboxes, better differentials, etc etc. MOST of this stuff has come from motor sport. This was what my simple comment about letting a few manufacturer backed cars in would help to properly advance new technologys. I think a few people simply didn't comprehend this, and some went purely on the defensive that "because I screwed some aero on and a new engine in the car, I've advanced technology", no I've developed my specific car to be better, using current technology already available. GTR32G: Again, I think you've missed the point. The guys claimed that there MUST be advances in technology PURELY because lap times went quicker. I used an analogy that IF making a car do quicker lap times = advancing technology, then is turning the boost up on a skyline advancing technology?
-
Right, so if I go out, purchase a car, get an F1 aero engineer to make me a car that will glue to the road and produce enough downforce to produce 2+G of turning force, have I developed and advanced anything, or have I used a proven thing from another field and put it into mine? If I can go out, and build a really powerful engine by purchasing items, testing them and then finding a couple of things that should be swapped out for others to say, produce the same top end, but more mid range, have I developed anything or have I taken things other people have developed and bolted it all together and just tested what seems to work best with other products? Just because someone has made a car faster, does not mean they have made advancements in technology, does it? Because if it does, is turning up the boost on a stock skyline an advancement in technology? Because that will make it lap quicker... I also don't understand your comment of Pushrod engine in a skyline. Care to elaborate?

He was done in the area Jarrad said. It's normally an 80 Zone, and seriously, there's NO houses around, and you will NEVER see a kid on that road during school time. Just plenty of moron drivers. Most people do 60 - 70KM/H through that school zone of a morning. I used to use that road every day during school times, I used to laugh at the amount of people who sped through it, as once a week there would be an unmarked HWP parked near one of the park entries booking people. Although, half the time he didn't care about those doing 60/70... More the idiots who do warp speed.

I thought you had a hair drier... Oh wait...

No, I got bored standing on pit wall last time. From everything I've seen though, none of the teams are advancing technology, just utilising what's already out. All of the teams have pretty much been "Buy X,Y,Z, test setup, swap Y for G, test setup" rinse repeat until the cars are making the best power. Now, I'm pretty sure that building things this way means you're basically testing what products work best in a given combination. Would you not agree? Then if you really want to, you get an aero guy in to design stuff for your specific "box" to make it stick to the road. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but haven't people being sticking wings and crazy aero on all sorts of vehicles for many many years? When we're talking advancements, we're talking proper R&D, development of different types of engine, new types of gearbox etc. Have any of these teams attempted to make things like AYC, DSG boxes etc. Or are other companies making it in other areas of motor sport/competition?

I reckon you should do 9s Chris and go quicker then Clappa AND Ryan...
