  1. Didn't have the puller with me tonight to rip the harmonic balancer off. It'll be off tomorrow, but it appears they all still line up as they did when we put it on... Something is SOOO bloody weird! Hoping when I get the balancer off it's a few teeth out or something simple... But I bet it all lines up perfect...
  2. Dood... I still don't know what's wrong with my car...
  3. So, the two cam gears are actually in time with each other... They sit on their timing marks whilst the harmonic balancer says 10 degrees BTDC. Will be pulling the harmonic off tomorrow once I pick up the puller and checking it on the actual bottom gear... But things are seeming strange... :S
  4. Guys! This is a cheap day! I paid $200 for my hot laps! And goddamn! Go in that R32, tell Uncy Dunc to wind some boost into it and ZOMG!!!
  5. Unfortunately, at this point in time, I didn't get the choice to put an idler on. I'd already drilled and tapped the block for the tension to be in the upper region, when I went to put the idler on in the spare lower spot, I realised this location was not machined. I attempted for a few good hours to make up "washers" to make it sit flat, but found after a while, there was no chance I'd get it right. Hence, now running two tensioners, one in factory spot, one in the spot advised by the DOHC guide. I do have standard gears on at the moment, going to throw one of the adjustable gears on either today or tomorrow and re do everything again. Does anyone know how I can check if the timing marks on the harmonic balancer are still correct?
  6. Versus taking it to court, maximum penalty imposed, licence CANCELLED (Not just suspended)... I know where I'd be going...
  7. It appears to be all good Duncan, but yes, quite right with timing... Just more then a few degrees... ROFL
  8. Hey All, Just threw another RB30 block into my car after destroying the last one, everythign is being used exactly the same, same sensors etc as before. Problem I now have though, after putting timing belt on (Tensioners are in the "stock" spot, and also where everyone says to put the second one (Drill and tap) as the "spare" spot wasnt machined flat... Anyway, timing is SAVAGELY retarded... Like, way more then a single tooth... As in, I need to throw 50 degrees at it from the ECU + advance it on the CAS, and I'm only getting 12 degrees of timing... We've redone the timing belt, it was all "fine" (Well, inlet was half a tooth retarded, exhaust half a tooth advanced...) I checked the keyway on the CAS... That was all fine... BTW, the only way this car would "start" is with the timing as I said above, but it would only do so at full throttle as the cold start tune is so shit... But when it did, the exhaust got quite hot, quite quickly...
  9. Own a Skyline -> *Tick* A member of SAU -> *Tick* Should be fine mate.
  10. NOOOOOOOOOOO!!! I'll come weld solid struts in the car foryou Lizzeh... It might not be ideal, but you'll get out there!!! R33 gear doesn't fit at all?
  11. If timing skipped a tooth, all cylinders would drop down equally. Get him to do a dry and wet test, then post results.
  12. Sell to me super cheap then... Need a car for some spares... Is low comp from head or pistons?
  13. Strange question... Have you earthed the radiator? Not just through the mounts either... Full earth cable... PS... It was never really that hot...
  14. If Stu wants a timer, and what not... Lemme know Stu... Duncan, need to have a chatsie with you and Brad one day soon... Re setting car up properly for a certain race category...
  15. Paid and IN!!! Now to get car going...
  16. Replace motor yourself, much cheaper... Just replace with a good "stock" motor...
  17. I think when I went for a run in it, with Duncan pushing it, we were seeing water temps of around 120 degrees... Or maybe that was oil temps... But temp came up... But seemingly the loud pedal just went down further... LOL
  18. Oh man... That makes me giggle as if I were in the car all over again! And I love how you can see more out the back window in the reflection of my helmet then you can out the front!
  19. I'll be checking tomorrow for this day off work...
  20. Neil, sounds like you're barely even revving that thing out except for one of the higher gears on the straight... How hard are you actually revving it, and what does it rev to?
  21. Please please please tell me it was the second last session that you did the 47 second one in!
  22. Go back to physics... Nuff said. If you have one car at 4500RPM at the same time of second car at 9000RPM, making the same power, in identical styled cars (Well hey, we are attempting to compare what Skyline A and Skyline B did, so changing gearbox is just something you can't do in this comparo) then the car turning at 4500RPM is CLEARLY going to leave the other car for dead... It's making double the torque. Double the acceleration (Remember, comparing one skyline to another, you need to be keeping the gears etc the same). But you were close on the highest average, but it's actually the highest average TORQUE that will be the winner. HP wins bragging rights at the pub. Torque wins races... (Torque at the wheels BTW... )
  23. I know there was quite a few hairy moments, and a couple of offs... Then the "beaching"... "I'm beached as bru!"
  24. Which epic fail of Cass'? There were many... I have photos of quite a few of Cass' epic Turn one entries... Just had a quick check then of one of them with Cass entering the infield slightly, water everywhere!
  25. I think the rescue helicopter flying in put a bigger dampener on the day for everyone compared to the actual rain! Not a bad day... Considering I could only spectate... LOL
