Your low readings initially, are due to a poor dyno operator. Your high reading was run in the correct mode. Shoot_6 Your low readings were run in Shoot_4 YES, it DOES make a HUGE difference. Personally, put it down the quarter If it REALLY has 170RWKW, you should net a flat 14. Also, if you made 5 dyno runs, and some purging, I'd say you're going to make a massive amount of 2 drag runs before running out... 5 pulls in 4th, would be a bit more then having to go through the 4 gears down the quarter, enough that you could just do it twice. On the street, this isn't going to be useful to you if you plan to have a "toy" with some cars, as you'll get two good hits, and be all out if you're running it. OR You'll run someone on the track, just beat them, and all of a sudden, they're all over you on the road. Also only useful for drag racing really. Also, I'd be fairly shitted off with that torque curve being so rough... What're they doing with fuelling and timing?

Hitting The Track This Weekend For The First Time
MBS206 replied to mr_rbman's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Go out there, and take a few slow laps to learn the track. Basically, use the first session to suss the track out, don't try and break the lap record, you'll just end in the kitty litter. So don't go flat out, nice and easy first session. Come back in, think over what you know of the track now. Go out. Rip it up. Each time you come in, think over what you've learnt about the corners. -
Cubes, honestly, I can't tell you what's in there at the moment The clutch was in the car when I bought it. My motor and gearbox is coming out not this thursday, but the one after, so I'll get some photos up then. I used to have the brand of clutch and flywheel, but I forgot them.
-
Might wanna get that checked...Every tech article I've read claims 3PSi. I'll pull my boost controller out tomorrow and run it up and see what it hits... I need to do this anyway, as I need to go back to waste gate pressure before destroying th eengine.
-
So, who's up for a boost... Just one car on the list... We do it in 24 hours... We get in, we get out, every car on the list... By the time they know what happened, the cars'll be gone... /gone in 60 seconds
-
I don't. Waste gate is only a 3PSi spring. Your waste gate may be different. Seriously, on the standard setup, turbo = boosted by 2800RPM, to 3PSi steady, at 4500RPM, it cuts upto 7PSi, how do you explain that?
-
So, I'm bumping this up, as the last part I'm chasing down at the moment, is a wastegate. I'm looking to make around 340RWKW at about 24PSi, and also have the ability to drop down to around 18PSi (Around 290RWKW if my calcs work out, they're only rough) So, I'm attempting to calc it all out, but I'm getting confused at the boost correction part... So let's apply it to your car; 340 rwkw = 544 bhp 480 bhp = 49.5 lbs of airflow = 49.5 mm wastegate After that, I get lost... Note, that above calcs might well be wrong!
-
On an R33 you can cut back to 3PSi as this is actuator pressure. The standard setup though, has a bleed solenoid to bleed to 7PSi. An EBC can allow you to do this by turning the EBC off and on as wanted. Basically, use the revs, but don't boost. Once you hit boost, it just chucks fuel in to richen it right up.

I'll be on two wheels soon... And I don't mean from kerb hopping the skyline either...

Clutch Pedal Bracket Pic
MBS206 replied to Merilious's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Why didn't you just weld the old one back on? It's all I did. -
NO! The air going backwards CAN'T spin the turbo backwards due to the design of the compressor. The air going backwards applies ZERO force on spinning them backwards. No BOV DOES NOT force blades to go "backwards" What boost controller are you running?
-
Sounds like fuel pump
-
If the speedo is gone, the ECU may be attempting to force itself to idle while you're driving, hence, the idle valve is closing right up and stalling. If you unplug your AAC does the car stall?
-
My button clutch feels lighter then my mates old stocker clutch. Yet, I still tore the bracket off the top of the fire wall... Be aware, the button does more then just put strain on your drive line. It'll chew tyres, it makes parking a bitch, bumper to bumper traffic WILL send you insane, and basically no one else will be able to drive it. It also makes quick take offs at the lights ALOT harder without frying up a set of tyres. I have a button in my R33 with a 4.8KG flywheel... The button clutch is coming out hopefully when new motor goes in, and I'll be headed for an organic.

Rb30 Twin Cam Turbo Engine
MBS206 replied to mild25/30's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
PM sent Highly interested. First dibs if possible! Edit: I was the one who just gave you the call too. Matt -
Find the last time this topic came up in this section... There was a VERY good technical discussion with alot of math involved... Eug was a main contributor with it.
-
How many people here have sent there cars to a workshop to have the RB25/30 built and installed, and where they Sydney/Wollongong shops... My car needs a rebuild put in, just missed out on the rips motor which someone page earlier bought due to being stuffed around for a few days extra then I expected. So, now I need to find a workshop, who can do me a build, at a reasonable price and put it in. I don't exactly have the time to do it myself, although, I will install it myself if need be. Just want a shop to build it and tune it for me, as I don't have time to build the engine.
-
Normal polish And why put WD40 on it! It's a f**king lubricant!
-
Adriano sounds on the money. Retarded timing = combustion isn't complete when exhaust valve is opening, allowing the turbo to spool
-
Do a skid... And if he's tuning it, on that fuel, it won't detonate... That's the whole point of doing it. But, without a retune, there's zero advantage of putting in 98 fuel either... Hence why it's a placebo when you throw 98 in your excel.
-
What plugs came out, and what plugs went in?
-
How'd you check?
-
I'd say Yes, And no to keeping the AFM. Look at things like sound, nothing beats straight off the side of the motor. Look at extra piping. That's a restriction, minor, but still a restriction. Then you've got 6 filters vs 1 filter. Basically, you have to look at how much you're prepared to spend. I know of only one ECU (Although, I bet there are more) that do a map crossed with a tps tune for multi throttle bodies. And the ecu I know of, is at pretty cheap price too. But, then you'll need a full tune. And then, what gains will you get from the 6 throttles + full tune? Might as well pull the the head at the same time, port it, cams in, etc. But then, big expense, not a "huge" gain. Are you planning on going turbo later on?
