  1. I just got a feeling that some people weren't too happy. LOL.I've since learnt, 2nd gear in the coon is a no go for sliding as I don't have a clutch, takes too much to get it loose in second reliably, and one it does go, it goes in a big way!!! But ask Brett. I munted a set of tyres at the end of the day...
  2. Oh I thought you meant the one at the start of the day when Eric asked me to test his timer... LOLI didn't even know I nailed any cones at the end of the day. Couldn't see shit!
  3. Thanks for the info guys, I guess I'm going back to looking at the two 4WDs I feel the most comfortable with from the Beginning, Patrol or Cruiser.
  4. Yeah, I don't think someone was happy with me... And not because I didn't go back. Hence leaving quickly But I've done many a J-Turn... LOL
  5. The point of hitting cones is so you can practice J-Turns to go and fix them!
  6. Josh, I'd trust Tristan if he knows of one up there...
  7. I'm just curious because it happened just down the road from my place (If I'd gone out 5 minutes earlier to my mums I'd have actually seen it happen), and I saw the aftermath. The picture posted really doesn't do justice how badly bent that car was.
  8. When I came through, there was just a UC sitting behind the GTR with his lights flashing and an ambo behind it.There were a couple of people standing around looking at the car and talking (Copper included), didn't look like any arrests being made or anything. I'd hazard a guess the R1 came down to pick someone up, or something similar.
  9. And the head is probably "sealed" on. Can take a light tap to remove it sometimes after the above screws are undone. Edit: Just remembered, there are also locators on the head to stop it being able to slide sideways. It can help to bolt the exhaust manifold on and use it as a handle to pull the head up.
  10. You need to check out my place, epic sized house, 3 car garage, and even a decent sized rear yard! (Which annoys me a bit... It takes time to mow )
  11. Yeah, it's rare to see them driving around, I'm just a little bit observant of what people have in their driveways/garages as I drive past. I'm very curious like that. LOLThe place I used to live in had a house very close to us that had from memory two hoists in it, on top of them were two old school Pontiacs. LOL
  12. So I've been researching 4WDs more and more. I'm trying to stay sub 10K, maybe pushing 15K. I want a 4WD I can sleep in the back of (Fold seats flat etc.) while still managing 5 seats, hence things like hilux etc are kind of out. Must be actual 4WD capable, not a softroader. Capable of towing 3T or more. Prefer Diesel. (I don't want something that will guzzle the juice too badly) Now, I've been browsing around at 80 series cruisers, and patrols, but I've been told to look at the Discovery (3.5T/4T towing capacity dependent on model from what I've read) and are meant to be good off road, and only slightly less torque than what the 80 series NA diesel makes. Not sure what else to look at in this range... Looking at Disco 2.5 either 4 or 5 Cylinder Turbo Diesels, but so far I've read no review in this thread on the Discovery except for one person with a petrol one that drinks alot. Any one else have any experience with them?
  13. As Promised: Barely even a skid mark... Jarrad: I'm living in Shell Cove now (Again), up in my tiny little area we have 2x GTRs (Black, and a White one), I think it's 3 GTS-t (Excluding my two!), and I think it's 2x 180SX... And I'm in a very small little area up near Killelea. You just rarely see them. Judging by how the road goes, and the how he went in to the fence etc, I think he's come down the hill (Where the white ute is coming down) and hit the throttle as he's turned left, around shes come and just kept sliding. This section of road grip goes from awesome to bullshit low in the blink of an eye, there is a quarry road up near the top of the hill, and the B-Doubles consistently cover this road in rocks, and dust. It does get VERY slippery, although, this bottom corner isn't that bad unless you're REALLY up it. (Unlike the corner up the top of that hill)
  14. I doubt it, car was sent back towards the road by another structural fence by the looksof it.He's kinda lucky to be where he was, if he went through the first fence he hit he'd be a long long way down a gulley and most likely wouldn't have walked away unharmed. I'll get a shot in about an hour when I head home. Josh, do you know the shell cove exit off the freeway after Albion park (the brand new one) If you do, as you're going south, take that exit and go left towards shell cove. The next roundabout is the one he crashed at. He was headed towards te freeway, and is about 50 meters out of the roundabout.
  15. I actually saw this accident in person. Not occur but the outcome of it. Car is munted, and I wouldn't be surprised if the sump has a dent in it. If you see where he hit, he was about 2 car widths even further off the road. From what I can piece together he's come down the hill tithe roundabout, turned left, opened the throttle, stepped it WAYYY to far an it's shot him off the road, he munted another fence BADLY which has helped aim him straight up that concrete. I shit you not, less then 50 meters behind that car is a roundabout that slows most of "the street racers" down to at least 50KMH.
  16. Insurers have been known to recover payouts they've made after finding things written on websites, such as the above. I've heard of one insurer having had paid out an accident that had occured on a racetrack, they were told it happened on the road. Owner bragged of "beating the system" he was quickly taken to court, and all money recovered.
  17. Or build to production car specs and go race?Oh wait, then we could just go join the production car guys... There are plenty or series' around to go run in, get a few mates together who have skylines and go run in superTT at MRA, then you race against others, but you can make it your own little personal battle with just the skylines.
  18. Buy a new tow car.
  19. Legalaid specifies you are within your right to NOT give a statement, and there are very limited circumstances you must answer police questions. (one such time is at the scene of a motor vehicle accident) It also specifies before answering any questions or making a statement you should seek legal aid. Secondly if a police officer threatens you to make a statement, said statement is null and void. A statement must be made voluntarily.
  20. As in e was a witness and doesn't want to make a statement? Well within his rights to not make a formal statement. If he won't give information up he can be done for hindering a police investigation. But if he's told them info they wrote it in their lil notebook, all sweet.
  21. I won't be there. I'll be welding the front of the car together.
  22. The last VW van I drove could barely pull it's own weight up the snowy mountains. Wouldn't buy one. There are probably more powerful versions available, but not my cuppa.
  23. It's detecting the bonnet isn't shut. Open your bonnet, locate the switch on the radiator support, sticky tape it down.
  24. If these are "every day" cars and not just hacks, Id send it to a panel beater. Very rarely does a panel bend without bending another. The metal is soft, and stretches easily. Getting it back into proper position requires some special tools and a bit of know how. I just straightened the front of an R33 I bought. It's road worthy but not 100% perfect in terms of looks if you know where you're looking as it still has ripples from stretched metal.
