Hey guys. I have read up on how much boost a R33 stock RB25 turbo can handle. As I have one. I had my car tuned at 13psi making a generious 291 rwhp. I have a AEM Electronic boost controller. So I run it on 12 psi seeing as I gather that 14+ the turbo is likely to fail. So I was driving my car this morning at 9am. I let it idle warm to 70 deg C and then took it for a drive. Air was super cold from yesterdays rain. When I was boosting the car was reading 15 and 16 psi a few times and then as I continued to drive for 10 minutes it would level out at 12psi again. So I am wondering if my turbo surges or spikes to 15-18psi every so often on cold mornings or nights, up hills or in high gear. Will the turbo explode soon? Cos I don't want to feed my turbo some compressor wheel peices. Thanks in advance Berny

I would say definitely paint the stock rims with the $3 paint cans from bunnings if want. Don't pay big $$$ to get it powder coated. Then u might aswell get bigger better rims. If u are concerned about ur car looking good with painted stockies. If the car is neat, has a good paint job and has a kit, the painted stock wheels will look awesome. But if ur car is too stock, and a lil piggy, painting the wheels will make it look boonga. The R34'spull of the painted rim look cos they are modern. If ur car is a R32 then painted stockies will look like 14" hub caps spec steel wheels with very high profile tyres. YUCK My 2c

Is the turbo just not running out of puff at high rpm cos its a tiny turbo? Good for mid range

Get a Bosch 044 and get it installed properly. Then it will be an intake pump And will run more HP than 040

back fire is not enough air or spark = too much unburnt fuel. check spark plugs. Intercooler piping would also cause that. Like an air leak after the AFM. Check vaccum line to ecu. That was my problem last week

Is the turbo ceramic or steel wheels?

Did you put the fuel filter in the right direction?

Immobiliser?

With my R32 with a RB25DET and R33 gearbox, I had to install a nissan navara one to get the speedo to work to pass the pits. Its 20km/h out though. Which is annoying.

Just buy an aftermarket one. Or a stock one from ebay for cheap. Best way

Go to Mettams Mufflers, Pretty sure they do turbo exhaust systems. They have been cheapest and best I have dealt with

Stock is good. As long as u have a bigge fuel pump. I had a malpassi on my R31 with RB30ET @ 10 psi boost. Caused the car to ping, beware of non genuine malpassi's. Copys are common

Yeh, If it says 98 over here in WA or over there in Qld, its the same. The fuel from BP or Vortex 98 or whatever from shell comes from the same company. Shell in Singapore IIRC . Just gets sold at different outlets.

Don't paint chromies, it would be too hard get them back to original condition. You can powder coat or spray can them any other colour than chrome. So yeh, leave ém and get another set for painting

Well if u have a RB25DET and u want to drift, u would probably want good response and some power. If u get a 2530 or 2530 and make 300rwhp with a very linear power delivery. So a HKS 2535 or a GCG 2560R

You know u can take off the intake pipe to the turbo and look for broken fins, bulk oil, or loads of shaft play back and forth, up and down. Its not hard to inspect. But do that after u have checked the intercooler piping silicone hose joiners

ECU would be best. Get most out of it. Fuel pumo will help. So get a PFC ecu 2nd hand. Maybe a nismo sticker for extra 50 hp
