Ben's asked me to ask a few questions, Suggested to ben to buy some new plugs,, fixed the starting problem.. im having trouble finding the lag time for Nismo 555cc.. i think its 0.73 but i need correct numbers.. or is it 0.71 anyhow.. the car is not registering more than 10% or so inj duty.. im thinking that because its map based sensors and not Maf based .. there is no base map for this version of the power fc.. which would mean its not sure how to " GO" because its not been programed to covert the map signals into something useabble.. is this correct?? realistically does it need a tune before it should be test drivable.. or should the engine be capable of atleast moving up and down the driveway without flunking out.. the car wont start again.. im assuming we have roasted the plugs again. too much fuel could the Sard fuel pressure reg be up too high?? any help would be greatly appreciated..   2. N1 are garrett i believe? correct me if im wrong.. but my mate and i just pulled of some n1 turbos of his gtr engine that made 300kws at 18psi on.. and they had garrett on them aswell

Just to share my experence i have had a misfire problem since the day i bought the car. started of bog stock, 10psi stnd everything it was running PRF5A11 so heat range 5 - 1.1mm gap (misfired all over the place) worst feeling ever. Changed to iridium BCPR6EIX-11 was good for few weeks, the along cam the exhuast and fmic this raised boost to around 11psi.. and the misfire came back changed fuel pump to a bosch 023 largest internal bosch pump u cant get. almost 300lph still misfire.. didnt chnage a thing. Finally changed to some BPRC6ES (0.8mm gap with V grouve) ran 14.7psi (with new turbo ect) and No misfire so the gap helped. i have actually done the high temp silicon trick to the coil packs.. worked a tad better.. deffintly the spark plugs that did the job. however still awaiting a retune. so possible will all be running nice because 16psi+ shows slight misfire again. Im going to get some splitfires.. but untill i save 600 bucks. im just going to run around with 24buck plugs. so i dont feel like im hitting a revlimiter from 2,000rpm to 7000rpm LOL My 2cents Adz

Can i suggest to maybe delete the Spark plug thread discussion page. and perhaps setup a similar page to the dyno result page for example: Engine: RB20DET Coil Pack: Stock Plugs: BPR6RES-8 (Heat range 6 Gapped to -8) Boost: 14.7 (1 Bar) Mods: T3/T4, 3" turbo back, Pod, Power FC Previous plugs: PRA5A11 , BCPR6EIX-11 Problem: Both set of previous plugs were gapped at 1.1 and causing misfiring. Solution: New plugs at .8 gapped stopped all misfire. Just a suggestion. Then people can find someone with similar mods, and attempt to try the same set of plugs. i know i have read alsmot every spark plug thread to gain knowledge and there always ends up with two or more people arguing. my problem was fixed by reading numerious posts by cubes suggesting the current plug im about to install. Having said that. daniel you right. it is a cheaper fix to a bigger problem. But for now. why not let it be known to everyone that perhaps the coilpacks are about to pack it in and to start saving. It would be better for someone to be able to run around without misfiring and have smooth idle/ and no misfiring while maybe we all saved to buy some replacement coil packs. Just an observation. dont wanna pick sides. just stating my personal opinion. Thnx, Adz
  7. Interesting.. my turbo also surges.. and i have a Gizzmo ebc, However my car was also surging before i had the ebc. But i would be interested to see weather the gizzmo is causeing some problems or not.. Was your car surging before the EBC, did u do another modifcation at the same time? and also. when u mean sruging do u mean. it starts building boost, then all the suddens the car jolts rapidly and the boost needle bounces up and down until u back off?

Hey, i checked out the " rb20det parts list" on this forum.. they have a number.. but not who friggin makes the belt?? i tried ringing supercheap and repco, they dont ahve anything in the computers for rb20det, however they said they head 2 diffrent kinds of power steering belts for rb25det, and not sure what would best suit. Does someone know the code? for an RB20DET power steering belt.? Cheers
  9. Had a microtech on pervious car, Was nice not having to worry about AFM's and stuff.. Pro's - No AFM, Easy Install even if u have to wire it yourself, nice password locking fature " with hand controller" Con's - Cops can detect a microtech as soon as they look under the bonnet and see you got no AFM.. so best keep it there, Hard to fine tune, not so cool on the old fuel tank Emange, sounds pretty good. does alot for what they cost. Pro's still run your factory ecu, so im assuming you can hot swap it pretty quick (pull out the emange - for emmissons tests) Con's not really a FULL aftermarket ecu a few things missings on tuning side of things. However seems like the enxt logical step. Standard ECU remap (for RB20) pretty decent value can tune them just as much as the power fc so i ahve been told by chris at mercury Pro's keep the factory ecu. cops would Never know your running diffrent from factory emmisso\in without probing it. Cheper, Con's not to many people can do the remap, only those with Dr Drift software i believe On that note ( he ahs been flown around aus to tune people cars. Power FC.. FTW Honestly.. Just pay the extra Pro's Full aftermarket ECU Fully Progrmable, Cons, $$$$ + RARE!!! MY 2 cents.. grit your teeth like i did and pay the 1300 for what its worth i just paid $1500 for a 2nd hand power fc and hand controller for my RB20DET Cheers Adz Ohh and i Totaly agree.. your ECU is only as good as your Tuner..
  10. sounds pretty much spot on.. slight loss of power due to auto, only 5psi, and catback .. if so thats not a bad power figure. pretty much slightly more than stock. considering your only modification is a cat abckl.. which might be good for an extra 5-10 kws. Anyone care to correct me if im wrong.. If in doubt have a look at the RB25 Dyno thread to compare to others. Adz
  11. Hey guys a few questions Currently im about to have my car tuned. 1) will the standard Rb20det have enough " power " whatever it is that maxes them out.. to flow and be mapped for 300 RWHP? I suppose it would come down to also the tuner aswell? this would be on a power FC with supporting mods and obviosuly a larger turbo. 2) What is the absolute MAX that people have amnaged to push out of a RB20DET AFM 3) what is the max umm Mv (millivolt???) reading that the rb20 can see 4) currently the turbo surges, under laod, people say could be the mass amount of air it runs low down.. it over loads the enigne.. so how can i see if im maxing out the afm udner load.. whats the highest it can read before its maxed i guess is what im asking. .so i can refer to the power fc hand controller whilse its under load. i know Z32 would be ideal.. but dont wanna have to shell out another 300 bucks if i dont need to to get to 300hp at the rears.   12. i dont understand why u need an GTR resistor pack on an RB20 for these injectors to run? does the rb20 not have its own ecu and resistor pack settings? i dont like the idea of having to buy not only 500 worth of injectors but 200 resistor pack as well.. so does this then mean the only other option is finding rb20det spec injectors? so that ther gtr resistor pack does not have to be used.?   14. why do u need a resistor pack?? if there aftermarket injectors whats the deal? im running a power FC.. does that help?
  15. Hey guys, might be buying some nismo injectors of a mate. he has them in his R32 GTR Rb26dett. He is looking to upgrade to some 700cc and i want to upgrade my stockers.. seeing as how people use the GTR 444cc injectors from a gtr engine into a rb20det..; will these nismo one fit straight in?   17. As the topic says. im after a set of 6 injectors, either GTR 444cc + thew resistor pack or something like nismo 550cc or anything over say 450cc that will fit a rb20det. will buy 2nd hand. let me know what u got.. and how much u want for them. Regards, Adam
  18. im rather curious to see some of the engines imputs. i would like to see injector duty ect. to make sure im not doing any damage to my car in the mean time.. as it is not a stock engine. And point taken.. but Also i would like to know.. because sooner or later im going to drive it to the mechanics on the power fc. and would rather not like to be on my mates tune on the way there..

Really don't mean to hijack this thread just out of curiosity. im currently buying an power fc for my rb20 from a mate who has it obviously tuned for his setup. am i able, when i take possession of the power fc, reset it and install it on my car and run it on a factory just like my standard ecu until i can afford a tune? if so does this same above process work?   20. i got a Bosch 023. mounted it myself.. took a few attempts to get it as close to the bottom of the tank with out it touching. and never had any dramas with 1/4 surging. would recommend the bosch over the walbro for piece of mind. purely and simply plus there not that much more. picked mine up for 219 delivered
  21. i had one of them before i got a full 3" mandrel bent turbo to cat pipe. They are alright.. they are still only 2.5 inch though.. but the split pump help a lil i felt a little more low down response.. and a tad more flow up top. but they retail at 99 bucks.. best u save another 100 and u can buy a full 3" dump and front pipe to your cat for like 225 posted.. well worth it.. u will see more for your money that way, My 2cents
