Brake Pads Users Ratings Guide
Simonster replied to Snowman's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I've used RB74 with comp 2 rears. Very good pad, little dust and no noise what-so-ever. You guys complaining of noise, do you/have you machined the discs?? Very good street, ok track pad, pedal goes pretty long and this is the result after 2 tracks days with no street driving in between As you can see the front left pad wore down and through the backing plate, and wore away the front rotor...which was bought new with the pads. No i couldn't tell while on the track Rotors will now need replacing. Changing pads to TH10's -
Sweet then Would you mind PM'ing me the pics of them? Thanks
-
I think you'll need to clarify which manifolds you're getting. it seems to me that you are the only guy using twins, the others are using singles. I'm not sure if Kyle does them for twins? Not being a prick, just trying to point it out

Shimmed Lsd Centre, Nismo Damping Adjustable Rear Shocks And Springs
Simonster replied to jezzerrr's topic in Classifieds
Hi Jeremy What ration is the diff? -
Did you check out SPAL fans from PWR? I use one in mine, much thinnner and massive CFM increase over the davies craig

Thanks for the replies guys, Suspension stuff certainly is interesting and frustrating to learn, but that's what makes it exciting. Gary said in a pm to me some time ago, that the front tyres were "seeing" a spring rate of around 5.7kg which was ok for the tyres i was using. For those that want to know, the S13 has a 0.9 to 1 movement and leverage ratio. I was more concerned with getting the anti roll bars correct. Cheers
-
As always, Gary, very informative and educational, sory to jack the post but to consolidate my understanding of the above, would i be correct in say that i have too little anti roll bar in the attached photo as i am picking up the inside front tyre at turn one @QR?? If that is true, then my current front 28mm anti roll bar on the softest of 3 settings and rear 21mm on hardest of 2 need to go up in size? Or do i have a roll centre problem keeping in mind the spring rates are 7kg/mm front and 4kg rears? Cheers Simon http://s51.photobucket.com/albums/f377/jun...nt=IMG_0889.jpg

2010 Nissan Silvia Preview
Simonster replied to craig V8 taffe's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Silvia is dead. Nissan engineer that designed the drivetrain for the new GTR said it won't be happening. This is from the lastest Wheels magazine -
Yes Geof, you and i know that training is the answer, but exactly what training is the government providing? Nothing I wouldn't mind doing a training/test course everytime i renew my license, to make sure i'm up to speed with new rules etc. if it takes a day who gives a shit. At least then we would have a go at some basic driver training. What would it involve? That would need to be sorted out but i think a good starting point is; dry braking in a straight line to stop before a set point wet braking in a straight line to stop before a set point dry braking avoiding an obstacle wet braking avoiding an obstacle dry, two direction changes avoiding obstacle wet, two direction changes avoiding an obstacle dry constant radius circle- slowly build up speed so can no longer maintain radius wet constant radius circle parallel park hill start and my absolute favourite, learning to count! Yes count people, it seems there are a number that cant count to 2 seconds- you know a good MINIMUM time to travel behind the car in front of you to gives a reasonable buffer. This costs nothing and is my pet peeve, i just laugh at cars sitting maybe 2 car-lengths behind the car in front. I have pretty good hand eye co-ordination and reaction time, but i wouldn't have a hope in hell in normal circumstances be able to avoid hitting the car in front if for some reason they decided to brake suddenly.....feel better now. I'm sure other people would welcome the opportunity to add to what they think would be good techniques to practice. At the end of the day, you owe it t yourself and other people on the road to be safe, capable drivers. I'll leave you with this thought, the Air Force spends around 15 months teaching people to fly, i am involved with this. At the culmination of this lengthy and difficult training, the final check we do is ask ourselves-and this is subjective; would you be happy sending your wife and kids in a aeroplane flown by this individual? I know i certainly wouldn't put my wife and kids in a car picked at random on the roads, because i have no idea what skills or training they might have. At least with a standard course like something outlined above, you would know that they have had at least some training before being let loose on our roads. Flame away

Hey- i resemble that remark John!!

This was done quite some time ago now, i know the guy that did it in Perth, made high `460rwhp on < 10psi. not bad for a stock engine and a "blower"

Interesting, my 25DE head has Tomei poncams for a RB25

200sx S15 Bilstein, Whiteline, Eibach & Noltec Suspension
Simonster replied to Sydneykid's topic in Group Buys
Thanks Matt or Gary, Here is what Gary said to me back in March this year; "So Gary, what changes would need to be made for the extra weight of the RB25 in the S13?? Cheers Simon Thanks for the wrap Simon. For the S13 with RB25 I would go for the Track Kit, but I will specify some slightly different spring and damper rates. Nothing major, just a little tweak......" Sorry couple of short questions, I am after the track kit 1. How much neg camber can be dialed in with the track kit? I currently have-3.2 its not enough, I need around -4.0 on the front? 2. Gary recommended a minor change to the damper and spring settings for my heavier RB25, is this still required with the track kit? 3. What size stabiliser bars are these- i have whiteline on my car already, the front is a version that fits around the RB25sump. 4. You seem to have listed rear camber kit twice on the "track kit" is this a typo? 5. i currently have tune agent adjustable castor rods front and on the rear, toe, thrust and camber pieces- would you suggest i keep these or ditch them and use your complete kit? Kind regards Simon -
Hey cubes, what is ct.com??

Simonster replied to Sydneykid's topic in Group Buys
Hi Gary/Matt What's the latest on the S13 track kit, was it finished, I've been through the thread and there is no info? Kind regards Simon -
No probs, it's been trial and error with me, no one else to ask, pretty happy with mine but have run out of neg camber adjustment on front. Will be fitting SK's track kit on a few months, after a milk my current set-up for all it's worth. I'm sure we can discuss it over a few beers

Are 285's Too Wide?
Simonster replied to 180-go's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
SK may well have it finished the kit, as I've been in the USA for the last 3 months, i haven't had a decent look, if he has, sweet, ill get it when i come home in 2 weeks! The 215 do ok on the track, i just don't have enough neg camber, need to change the lower control arm mount for more neg camber. good luck with it. -
Are 285's Too Wide?
Simonster replied to 180-go's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I have a 180, currently run 215 front 235 rear- although i also have a heavier RB25 up front as well. I run a dunlop semi slick and it needs more grip at the front- I've run out of adjustment with camber -3.2 front and anti roll bar. I would suggest at least a 235 front if you can fit it and maybe 255 rear I am waiting for Sydneykid to compete the S13 track kit. I have his full road kit on my R32, it's just brilliant I run -1.5 camber on the rear and its just not enough at QR- could go up to -2.0 rear would like to dial in 4.0 on front but out of adjustment. Hope that helps? -
Take your gloating elsewhere, no one likes you anyway
-
Common Lowndsey, can't come 2nd twice in a row!?
-
Sweet So when can we expect you out at the sprints at QR then mark??? I need some support, I'm the only 180 out there, got some stiff opposition from 2 Evo9's....hey Michael, I'm not in your league yet, so don't flame and that bloody pink toyota well.... Hey I'm still runing semi slicks too, cant play with th e big boys.......yet
