Rb26/30 Build, Yet Another One... ;)
Simonster replied to Simonster's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Bought a Trust cooler but it would not fit as i still run the return pipework from the BOV's. If that wasn't there it wouldn't have been an issue. SO i bought an A.R.E. cooler which is now sitting nicely in place. Tuned the car on Tuesday. Result wasn't as expected, i suspect i've gone too aggressive with the cam timing as power is falling over by 5500rpm and won't accept much timing. Mountains of torque though which is really nice 18psi by 3700rpm. So will adjust the timing and see what happens. -
Very nice looking version!

Actually the aircon fan isn't always on. Its off when i first get into the car, but on arriving at my destination, its running when i pop the bonnet - strange one... Can someone point out where the water temp sensor is, i can't make it out from the workshop manual?

Dunlop Direzza 03G Hard Or Medium?
Simonster replied to ike's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
The sidewalls are very stiff compared to a road tyre, so no issue. I really swerve from side to side on the out lap to generate some heat, i did the same thing each time and my pressures are always spot on at the end of a run. I suspect suzuka would be similar as far as camber goes but if you're in a GTR you may need a bit more on the front, but the temp will tell you. Also if you can't get it to turn toe the rear out at least 1mm each side this will help it point and get to the apex if you have done everything else and she's still understeering. This way you can keep some sensible camber on the front which will help with braking. -3.5 on the front -2 on the rear. but that's what i need to run to get and even temp on the tyre face for that track. It will be different at different tracks Hope it goes well!! -
Ok, so my climate control works with no issues. I've performed the aircon diagnostic, it's good, only get 23, water temp sensor. I have the workshop manual but for the life of me i can' t see it in my engine bay. What is it for, does it have anything to do with engine cooling or something else. So here's the deal- my aircon is always on. Yep, even when i turn it off and nothing is displayed on the climate control, its on, if air blowing thru the vents, i can feel the very cold air. In the engine bay, the compressor clutch is engaged and the aircon cooling fan is on- how the fcuk has that happened Ive recently refitted my engine, so is it possible to "hardwire" compressor on with just the power wire, i thought it only had one power wire to it and all it did was switch the compressor on? Any help is appreciated, as i'm out of idea's.

I am surprised car companies give them any cars at all considering how much the tend to bag them. But in the end it's entertainment, not necessarily a car review -
Dampening Adjustment On Hks Hipermax

How, the adjustment is on the bottom of the tube, so you need to get access to the bottom of the shock. -
Dunlop Direzza 03G Hard Or Medium?
Simonster replied to ike's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Hi Mike, I use the 03G hard on the sprint track at Queensland raceway. I also drive on the to and from the track (about 40km) I do this around 5-6 times a year however sessions are much shorter around 6 minutes with laps under the 60second mark. The tyres last me all year. Pressure, the 3G's like 30-32psi hot so start with whatever you need for them to come up to this. I suspect 30 minutes of racing you'll need to start them pretty soft but id only be guessing but 22 might be a good start. I have different starting pressure for each tyre to suit QR, the lowest is 23 and highest is 28. So that should give you some idea. Start with 22 and come in after say 5 laps as they should be stabilised by then ad make sure you have a temp probe or gun and change the camber accordingly. Hope that helps? -

Rb26/30 Build, Yet Another One... ;)
Simonster replied to Simonster's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Yep, that's what i thought too, i got the guys to drop the pipes regardless, but no rags, i suspect it's just gummed up over time with oil from the recirc. Anyway, new cooler on the way -
If you go 30 then you'll most likely need a clutch to handle the extra torque of the mighty 3litre I highly recommend NPC's 800nm item, i have it in my3 litre and it's as light at factory- not bull

Core found thanks guys!!

Rb26/30 Build, Yet Another One... ;)
Simonster replied to Simonster's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
After numerous delay for various reasons, i have the car back in my posession......but its not had it's final tune We tried to but my standard intercooler just not cutting the mustard. She was losing 6psi across the core @ 18 so inlet manifold was only seeing 12. This just wasn't good enough. So i've bought Femno's Trust cooler and in a few weeks time she'll back for her final tune. That said 300hp on 6psi is pretty nice, surprisingly very smooth and just gobs of torque. It's up ~30 percent on what it had previously and 20 more hp i think a combination of new ecu and the things Mick did to the crank. I'll post some pics up tomorrow when i can see the car in the daylight, but had to change the inlet filters from Apexi to HKS mushrooms as I no longer need AFM's & the CDI is mounted next to the water bottle. The guys made me up a reeeeeeeeeeally nice oil/air separator which apparently from the time Josh spent making it is worth about $800 he he. Anyway, it's sooooo nice to drive her again and i need to reacquaint myself with everything. -
Trust Gtr Intercooler

Thanks Tom, Reason i'm looking is my stock core is losing 6psi across it's core at 18psi. Which model is it from 32, 33, or 34? Was pretty confident of the stock core doing what i wanted but now i'm not. I think it's a bit gummed up or something similar If i went a stocker it would have to be a 34 if it fits, i'll have to check that out. thanks for the offer!

Mat, Is this a direct fit or does it need pipe changes? Thanks -
As title, Chasing a direct fit cooler for my 32GTR, ARC, Trust, ARE don't mind. Thanks

Ive recently seen something that has turned my knowledge of cams on its head. I saw a 90hp gain at a specific rpm on a 2.6GTR with -5's. It was a really course adjustment- the limit of what the cam timing would allow. I didn't believe it, the tuner couldn't either, but there it is. It was around the 90km/h in 4th gear, adjusting the inlet only, ex was set on zero still.
