Is A Stagea Okay For A Commuter Car?
iamhe77 replied to Maximilian's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
True. They should have some stock S1 or S2's. Don't know about M35's, haven't been out there in quite some time. -

You can try Southern Special Vehicles (SSV). They have an Blue M35 there. It is a VERY basic RS, with a Gialla Body kit.... or should I say Gheyala body kit. We were out there on Saturday and they also have a black S2... which definitely IS NOT stock. So I guess if you want to test drive a stock M35 and a modded C34, SSV can be found at the Corner of Princes Highway and Huntingdale Road Oakleigh (03) 9543 3722 http://www.southernspecialvehicles.com.au/...cle-search.html I have had nothing but a positive experience dealing with Northshore Prestige... Have bought 2 cars through them now (both M35's). Ben and Tony especially go the "extra mile". They STILL answer any questions I might have, even to the point of mailing down a G35 workshop manual on 2 CD's or sending down some D2R Xenon bulbs. No hassle at all Their stock, from what I have seen/experienced is of high quality and sending the cars (or goods) down to Melbourne is no prob at all. But if you don't need the car immediately, maybe try one of the importers on this forum, or Prestige Motorsport or, again, Northshore. You can specify exactly what you want and they will do what they can to find it & bring it in. Just be prepared for a wait! -

Is A Stagea Okay For A Commuter Car?
iamhe77 replied to Maximilian's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Yep. Turbo now has steel wheels. STILL don't know what was used for the internals... Nor do the boys at RE! Looks like it is to stay a mystery. Fuel economy? Not much change. Cruising is much improved ~12km/L @ 110kph Accelerating would be worse of course. My average fuel consumption over the last 20,000km's has been 9.2km/L (just came down last night, not cruising at all, just little run-arounds through hills & estates ). Makes power much more easily as the car can breathe (was like breathing through a straw before) so I can be more gentle on the accelerator. Boost is unchanged @ 3200 (0.8bar), but I also now get up to 1bar @ ~3600 (maybe more, my gauge maxes at 1bar). Dyno? Dunno yet. Haven't really had the time to get it done. Special mention goes to the Kakimoto front pipe. This is what made the most difference from my stocker. I also have a direct comparison with my mates M35 as he also has a Fujitsubo Legalis R exhaust but with a different (stock maybe) front pipe. His is a little quieter than mine, but mine has a much deeper growl and sounds much better throughout the range (and I HATE excessively loud exhausts). -

Since I have the oldest M35 here with the most "experience" on its ODO I will tell you what has gone wrong. Bought 80,000km April '07. Currently over 145,000km's In chronological order; Issue #1 Left wheel bearing assembly. Replaced in 10 days & installed for $211 (as quoted by Ferntree Gully Nissan) Issue #2 Turbo. I was unaware that the compliance exhaust was left on which was very restrictive (5 Cats + dump pre-cat), caused excess back pressure which, over the course of the first 14mths, wore down and eventually destroyed the ceramic wheel of the turbo. It is a unique turbo (of course), but there are alot of places that can HiFlow it. No need to buy another turbo. Issue #3 Radiator. Dropped coolant like I sliced a major artery. Wouldn't put that down to age as Jetwreck's had a similar moment with his radiator. Bring on the Mishimoto! These are all the problems I have had thus far, not bad I think for a car that gets boosted quite a bit and is the family's daily (I always chauffeur). -

He has been warned. Yep, ARC replacement You may be able to make it out in the pic.... hmmm, starting to think that I should claim a commission for that negotiation! -

Makes me glad I am getting 9.3km/L (City-ish driving) Glad to hear you are finally getting "normal" economy! My first road trip was from Melbourne to Warnambool via the Great Ocean Road. We came back along the highway, filled up at the same servo. 703km - 67L. Not bad for a "fun run". Don't know of any C34's that can do that. That exhaust is the HKS Demoda. For the money, you could get Nismo, Fujitsubo (pic of mine in my sig) or a full Kakimoto (dump back - deleted Cat) So why would you bother with the smaller HKS? I do like the Aero kit, but there are other which look much nicer IMO. Or you could just lower a normal kit, this is my mates car. Stock bodywork with Nismo suspension & 5mm spacers on 18x8's. Looks quite aggressive in the flesh (in the metal??) -
The CVT IS an expensive 'box to have fixed and it uses VERY expensive fluid created for it. It was not on any locally delivered cars, and there are very few people who know how to fix them. The M35 5-speed tiptronic is very similar to the 350z Touring transmission. When I took mine in to Nissan, they had no trouble servicing it, "just like a 350z or Xtrail or Patrol" the service guy said. The transmission has a delay when using the tiptronic, but is smooth and seems to be well built. When Andy says "service free", he is referring to the fact that Nissan have made it to require servicing NO servicing (as I was informed when I got mine back from Nissan). It is a "sealed" unit and does not have (or require) a filter... Do you have another Nissan Dealership you can go to? I drive about 50mins and past 5 other Nissan Dealerships to take it to one who enjoys/wants to work on it and is prepared to bring parts in for me. Any dealership can perform a service on it, it is just whether they want to.

Haha, not to pick, but the resale of a S1 or S2 is hardly great either! What are we looking at? 15k for a pristine, low km, fully optioned S2 from a dealership? The only Stagea's that will have reasonable resale of the 260RS's or possibly the Axis M35's. Not as poor resale as their Skyline equivalent though Heh, you have to convince people? Everyone I have shown has loved mine without any "convincing". Maybe the "tough sell" is just in the mind of the dealerships, therefore the potential buyer picks up on these "negative vibes" and steers clear.
-
Why would you convince her out of an M35? More luxurious, more power, good economy, more room (both legs & luggage), more comfortable. Sounds like the only reason is the fear of the unknown. People having trouble sourcing brakes for an S2? No probs with M35, 350z touring is a direct swap, or you can even direct fit the 350z/V35 Brembo's if you wish No trouble souring parts for now... Just give a decent Nissan dealership a call (you will pay for it though, as with any car). Orphan Engine? Sorta, but there may be hope coming in June; http://www.caradvice.com.au/24237/2009-nis...maxima-at-mims/ There are a couple of other threads covering the C34/M35 comparisons though... Give them a quick read.

2009 Infiniti G37 Convertible
iamhe77 replied to FlyingEL's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
So, what makes them "not Skylines"? No RB? That was hardly the original engine. No Turbo? When you can get as much or more power from a N/A that has MUCH better fuel economy and is a smoother engine, who cares? Not built in 90's Japan? Catch up! "You're livin' in the past maaaan" Doesn't have a cheap interior? Nope, quite the classy interior in the V35 actually. Doesn't get pulled over by every second cop? Nope. Doesn't make people say "Oh Sick car" but instead people stare and just say "niiice" You sound like a fanboy that bought a 33 just to say to your mates that you have an imported turbo Skyline. -
Spotted Silver (or was it grey) R34 V-spec II in Narre East around 7 last night.

Or, you could do as many of my friends do & have the can/bottle 1/3-filled with water and ash and butt into that. If it is a bottle, you can even put the lid on to stop the stench! Wow!! What a revelation!!! Enjoying your filthy (IMO) habit and only impacting minimally on the environment. btw, a bottle with multiple butts floating in brownish water has to be one of the least appealing things to look at and will most certainly help you quit (or just gross out your passengers). Also, why is it that when smokers come to my house (non-smoking) and have to have a ciggie outside (which I allow on my block), do they drop their butts on my lawn. I have a f**king bin. What? Too much effort to walk to it? Don't bother lighting up then! I DO NOT need to see either of my dogs playing with or chewing on a bloody cigarette butt

Lame.... and illegal, or is that just here in Vic? Remember all those stupid <-STOP-> brake/indicator signals that were outlawed because "the wording is a distraction to other drivers".
-
Couldn't do that... I guess it leaves a nasty smell in car (lowers re-sale)

That s*it makes me sick. Deport for sure, for any person that does crap like this. Born here? Fine, straight to jail. Zero tolerance. Here is a question for you though, if someone had jumped in and destroyed these arseholes, what are the chances he/she would get off without jail time? I think, probably no chance. Definitely one reason we moved... Rumour has it that there will be anywhere from 1,000 to 3,000 Sudanese brought in to Pakenham. I know that most are not like this, and yes, I actually do have Sudanese friends, but I also have a couple of cop friends that have some very poor experiences to tell.

That's why I carry a note pad & pen in the car. Couldn't count how many rego's & car description I have written down and submitted to EPA. No stereo types either, luxury car drivers, elderly drivers, P platers, Soccer Mums... I don't care who they are! DO NOT DUMP YOUR CIGARETTE WASTE OUT OF YOUR CAR Which reminds me, I have to report a P plater who threw his lit but out the passenger window and into the langwarrin flora and fauna reserve off Warrandyte Rd last night. Unbelievable!!

AR-x rims do look much nicer, but I was referring to the width stated in your original post... Tyres to suite would cost a fortune!! -
