Don't know what it is like now, but the last time I used Mobil Synergy 8000, the old R31 seized and the entire fuel system needed to be replaced (including pump) and was directly attributed to poor fuel. I used to fill up exclusively with 8000, but that was about 6 years ago. No way that is going in my NM35. I usually fill up on either V-Power or Ultimate and I have found that the car gets better mileage on the BP (~650kms before the light comes on, compared to ~620kms with V-Power). Oh, and my brother used to work at Safeway Petrol and gave me some real horror stories about their fuel... So I don't really use Caltex either.

BRILLIANT!!! Now I will be more inclined to use the tiptronic as I could not stand the illogical original setup. Cheers.

6No, my transmission was not running badly. It did have smooth changes and changed the same as it seems yours does while in "D". It is just that with the service and whatever is in that satchel, the transmission in that much smoother and quicker to change. I have not really played around with the tiptronic though. If you are happy with how your trans is shifting, then why are you looking at changing the fluids? Nissan actually don't change transmission fluids anymore as part of normal servicing. Like I said though, they are putting this satchel in all new automatic vehicles to increase performance on reliability. I do know that it manufactured in the US and Nissan have purchased exclusive rights to it. I do not care if it is a satchel of bull sperm. It has improved a transmission that had nothing wrong with it in the first place. The reason I got it serviced was because it was dropping power momentarily when cruising & I wanted to rule out the trans. Glad to be of help.

Try getting a full trans service at a "reputable" Nissan dealership & request that the "New Car Satchel" be put in. You will know if they have used it as you will get quicker shifts. They are not supposed to use it on cars that are out of warranty. Good luck! Synchro is not a 50-50 split. When I use synchro (not often), it immediately shows ~30-40Nm on the gauge... whether I am cruising or standing still. Try accelerating from standstill with your front tires on tarmac & the rears on gravel, that will instantly let you know if your gauge is working correctly. -
M35: 2.5l Turbo Or 3.5l N/a? Pros & Cons

May I suggest contacting Muz on these forums? I am pretty damn sure that if it can be complied, his would be the first. -
Hi Brendan, I use Motul Chrono 300v oil. I ONLY use synthetic oil and have tried a few - Valvoline, Amsoil, Castrol Edge, Mobil 1 (Supersynth), Motul 8100, Penrite Syn, Royal Purple... I use the 300v because the car runs much smoother than the others (all have been 40 weight - except maybe the Syn), the engine seems livelier and just runs much better. I normally use the Motul engine clean every 20,000kms, but last time I used Amsoil's one. From personal experience alone I would recommend the 300v or the Royal Purple. Also from personal experience I would pass on the 8100, Syn and Edge. The 8100 in particular left a lot of crap behind I change oil every 10,000kms. It really is not necessary to change any more frequently than that if you use a fully synthetic oil. I usually use the Pitworks oil filter (same as the Xtrail filter) but at my last change I decided to try the Amsoil filter. It is a much larger unit and uses Nanomolecular strands to filter instead of paper (they also do a Nano air filter which I will try soon). To be honest, I have not noticed a difference. I have had Nissan perform a full service on my transmission, so the fluid they use with the addition of some kind of "satchel" (which Nissan are putting in all Auto boxes for all new cars... No I don't know what is in it). I don't know if it was the service, but the gears are much better, smoother whilst driving and much quicker changes Hope that helps.

The LS1 is a much better idea to the 13b. You will need that torque... but if you think that you will be getting more power out of a supercharged LS1 (~430kw at the fly) than a worked RB26, I would beg to differ.

Ultimately that is what I want to do with my M35, except with twins & liquid LPG conversion.... May take some time though....

The last Major service I had there included a transmission service (which is $250). I don't let them change the oil or filter as I only use a fully synthetic oil, but they did everything else including a "factory reset" of the electrics. Set me back $525 - that's $275 for all other fluids & filters and $250 for the transmission. Not too bad I thought. They also gave it a complimentary full interior vac and wipe down of the dash. Nice.

That's why I said Ferntree Gully. They have no problem dealing with imports, and actually enjoy working on something a bit different. Craig (service guy) said that when my car was dropped driven in, it was "tools down, lets have a look at this thing" as it was the only one in VIC at the time and 1 or only 2 in Australia. It only took 10 days for a wheel bearing assembly to be ordered, landed & installed. Only cost ~$400 all up. .... look at it this way, if they can repair/service etc an NM35 Stagea without a concern, they can deal with any Nissan

Tough call... In order; 1) Fuji/Kakimoto exhaust combo - niiice sound & very nice increase in power (looks good too ) 2) Nismo LMX5 rims - work beautifully with the sky blue, huge grip increase over stockies (Kenda types) 3) Opening up airbox - doesn't run out of breath now.... at all.... ever 4) Hi Flow Turbo (T3 core) - only logs in at number 4 because I have not installed the Emanage Ultimate (next - can't wait!) or a boost controller.

Excellent stuff mate. Very nice finish on that paint. Smooth Enjoy! (Yeah, like you won't) -
Depends what you need done. I am by no means a mechanic either, but I do change the fluids & filters (you know, the basics) If it is general stuff, I would take a trip to Ferntree Gully Nissan (new car service ONLY). I take my M35 there (~40 min drive from Pakenham). Craig in particular is one to talk to. They are pretty quick if a part need to be shipped over as well Unfortunately I cannot offer anyone in the Frankston/Mornington area (I work in Mt. Eliza and was raised in F'ston). I tried Mornington Nissan, but would DEFINATELY NOT RECOMMEND THEM. When I got my car back it had mysteriously travelled 35km's and the economy on the screen had dropped from 8.9km/L to 8.5km/L (not much but when you consider that it hadn't been reset for 40,000km's...), anyway I don't like a mechanic (or manager) taking my car out for a thrashing. Don't get me started on Frankston Nissan... Hell, Berwick Nissan said that they would treat it like it was a Falcon AND charge me $97 per hour! None of the guys I have spoken to in the workshops around that area have instilled enough confidence in me to warrant handing over the keys to my baby. Sorry Bud. RE Customs or Ferntree Gully Nissan for mods/serious stuff, my garage for minor services.

If you want to drive out to it, I think that the Korumburra - Warragul Rd is pretty good, especially heading North but is safer going south & eases you in. I used to have to deliver stuff periodically for Reece from Pakenham to Leongatha & ALWAY took this road. It has some tight blind turns with shear drops and no Emergency lane (watch out for those bumps on the outside, they will bounce you 1/2m towards the rail), sweeping high speed bends, inclines, declines, almost-hairpins, mostly 80-100kph limit... Just try to keep it above 60kph Oh, and if you catch it with some light mist, be very careful - those 50m+ vertical drops with only a pissy little guard rail on the side of your lane to stop your car (yeah, right) would put an end to your driving days I would think...
-
Not so magical if I have to climb into the back to get access to the back I meant maybe from the drivers seat... oh well.
-
Damn! And here I was thinking that there was a magical button I had yet to find.... oh well.

The only intake difference is that I have taken the little clip on panel off the front of the airbox. The exhaust is the Fuji Legalis with a Kakimoto front pipe. Fuel economy is about the same. Boost is the same as stock ie. 0.8 bar @ 3200rpm, but it rises to 1 bar (or higher - my gauge doesn't show higher than 1bar) at ~3800rpm and stays there to redline I say that fuel economy is about the same because I don't generally have my foot planted to the floor. I do average just over 74kph on my drive to work according to the car's computer...... if I stick to the limits. Lean it out? I don't think so. Cold start in the morning has a stronger smell than with the stock exhaust. As an aside, the car only has issues with the turbo if the exhaust is creating too much back pressure. Compliance axhausts can be deadly...

The button is under the Nissan emblem on the boot. No key lock. How else have you been opening the boot if not with the button?
